Chapter Three

Katelyn's point of view

"Katelyn, it's time for school." I heard Luke say and I forced my eyes to open. "Come on, get up." He told me.

"I'm up. I'm up." I muttered and yawned as I turned to lay on my back. "I'm up." I said again and he chuckled.

"Go get dressed. I'll make you a quick bowl of cereal." He told me and I nodded. He left the room and I got out of bed with a yawn and a stretch of my arms.

I went to my bathroom and then I brushed my hair. I put it in a ponytail and then put a Navy blue bow in my hair. I washed my face and then I went to my closet after drying it.

I grabbed my navy blue uniform and stripped down so I could put it on. It fit perfectly, besides for the shirt around the boob area. I huffed and then just threw the blue cardigan over it, butting up the three buttons.

I slipped on some black flats after putting those terrible knee socks on and then I grabbed my backpack. I put my phone in my bra and then made my way downstairs.

"Don't you look adorable." Luke told me and I rolled my eyes as I chuckled. I sat down by a bowl of cereal and he eyed me. "Maybe we should buy you a shirt that's a size bigger." He told me.

"Sounds like a good idea." I told him and he chuckled, telling me he'll buy some while I'm at school. "Thanks for breakfast Luke." I said as I began eating.

"You're welcome sweetheart." He said and leaned back in his chair. "Excited for your first day of school?" He asked me.

"Kind of." I said and he nodded. "I want to be excited because maybe it will be fun and go perfectly. However, it could also go terribly bad and that makes me nervous." I told him.

"Don't worry. It's a great school, one of the best in Australia." He told me and my eyes widened. Australia was a large continent...

"That probably means academic wise Luke. The people could be complete assholes but still be smart." I said and he nodded.

"That's true, but I doubt that's the case." He told me and I ate my cereal quietly. "Hurry up okay? We have to leave soon."

"Okay."

-

"Bye." I waved and he smiled at me before driving off. I looked at the large school and then at the kids walking into it, and I just felt so small.

I didn't know anyone as I walked into the building and I didn't know where any of my classes were. I was lost, mentally and physically.

"Watch where you're going." Some boy said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked around and furrowed my eyebrows. When did I get on the floor?

I looked up and saw a boy with bright blue hair. He wore a pair of tight black jeans and a white button up with the stupid school blazer over it. A blue tie hung loosely around his neck and small black gauges were in his ears.

"I-I'm sorry." I said and he just looked at me. "I'm uh new here and was lost in my thoughts. I'm sorry." I said and he chuckled.

"Chill, I'm not mad, just irritated." He said as he held a hand out for me to take. I slowly took it and he actually helped me up rather than trick me. "What's your name?"

"Katelyn." I said and he nodded. "What's you're name?" I asked him, just noticing that he had the prettiest hazel eyes and a hole on the right side of his lip.

"Jacob." He answered and I nodded. I fixed my skirt and he took the schedule out of my cardigan's pocket. "Let's see what your classes are." He told me as he unfolded it.

I should feel a bit violated and upset that he just reached into my pocket and grabbed it, but I'm not. I didn't really care actually. I was just glad someone is talking to me.

"Science eh?" He said and I nodded. "Same. We have science, music, english, lunch, and gym together." He told me and I nodded. "Follow me."

I nodded as fixed my backpack and walked beside him. People stared at us, but I was thinking it's because Jacob wasn't dressed in the proper school attire.

"You're not wearing uniform." I pointed out to him and he grimaced. "Why not?"

"I don't want to." He said and I nodded. "Why would I want to look like everyone else? Fuck, I'd rather die than be caught dressed like one of those preppy ass kids." He told me.

"How old are you?" I asked him out of nowhere and he looked at me. "I don't know, I'm curious."

"Sixteen." He told me and smiled. "I got held back a year because I was absent so much and wasn't getting the grades I needed. Then I have an early birthday so yeah." He told me and I nodded.

"Why?"

"None of your business." He told me and I nodded again. "Anyways, this is our class and our teacher is a glitter obsessed lunatic who needs everything perfect."

"Oh, okay." I told him and we stood outside of the class. "Where do I sit? I don't want to take someone's seat." I told him shyly.

"There's a spot in the back by me." He said as he ran a hand through his hair. "I don't play nicely with the other kids so I sat alone for awhile. You can sit there though." He said and I nodded.

"Okay." I told him and a bell was ringing. "Is it time to go inside?" I asked and he nodded. He opened the door and let me walk in before he did.

"Who are you?" The teacher asked me. "Oh, oh yeah you're the new student. Come here." He said and I walked towards him. "Introduce yourself."

"Uh, my name is Katelyn and I'm happy to be here?" I said, unsure of what I should say. I looked at the teacher and he nodded.

"Good enough, even though you're lying, no one is happy to be up at seven am. Go sit down so I can get started on my lesson." He said and I walked towards the back.

I sat beside Jacob and he opened his notebook. Instead of taking notes however, he just began doodling in it with his colorful pens.

"Today we will be continuing on our density projects." The teacher said and I sighed. "Jacob, now you have a partner."

Jacob rolled his eyes and looked at me. I gave him a small smile and then began copying down whatever was on the board from yesterday.

-

"This way to music class." Jacob told me as he caught me in the hallways. "It's just right there. That's what the 'H' stands for, hallway." He said and I nodded.

We walked into the music room and the lady looked at me. "You must be Katelyn, I'm so glad to have you in my class. Is there any instrument you can play?"

"No." I said and she nodded as she looked around. "I'm terrible at music. I love listening to it, but I can't play it." I told her and she nodded.

"How about you do precussion, it's the last instrument. Just bang the cymbals together when I say. Does that sound good?" She asked me and I nodded.

I took them from her hands and stood where she told me to. I smiled at them and clashed them together, laughing to myself as I startled some kids. "Sorry." I said but I honestly wasn't sorry at all.

"You're gonna have fun banging things together huh?" Jacob asked me and I looked at him. He was standing by some large drum and he had a huge stick with a ball on the end.

"Yes." I answered and clashed them together again. "I love this." I told him and laughed as he made me keep them still.

"Keep quiet while the teacher talks. She will, no joke, kick you out if her classroom." He said and I nodded. I chuckled lightly and then he banged on his drum.

"Jacob, keep that silent or you will be out of here." The teacher said and he just smirked as he banged on the drum again.

He made a beat and I watched him. I kept my cymbals to my sides but I really just wanted to clash them together again. I fought the urge however, but Jacob kept banging on the drum.

"Jacob! Out!" The teacher demanded and he laughed. "This is no laughing matter young man. Put the drumstick down and leave." She said.

"Okay." Jacob said and dropped the drumstick. "See you later." He said to me and winked.

I blushed and he left the class. "Now, to begin with today's lesson on timing. When I point to you, play your instrument." The teacher said and I sighed.

This was gonna be a long year.

-

"Hey." I said as I saw Jacob sitting at a lunch table. He looked at me and then gave me a nod before closing his journal and putting it in his bag. "What's up?"

"Making plans to dye my hair again and go out to buy some more skinny jeans." He told me and I nodded.

"What color are you getting?" I asked him and he shrugged. "I think that red would look nice. Bright colors seem like they'd look better." I told him.

"I was thinking about black." He told me and I nodded as he played with the food on his tray. "I like the color black. Matches everything else in this world." He told me nonchantly.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked him, not even bothering with the lunch on my tray. "Care to explain?"

"Everyone... they just try too hard to follow all the trends. They keep pretending to be someone they're not and when all those colors mix, they just... they're black." He said and I nodded as I tilted my head to the side a bit.

"Deep." I told him and he shrugged, brushing it off. "Do you like following the trends?" I asked him and he looked at be briefly, looking down right after.

"No." He said with a chuckle to make it seem less intense. "No I don't follow trends. It's not my thing... never was never will be." He told me and I nodded. "You?"

"I don't even keep up with them." I said and he nodded. "It's not really my thing honestly. I'm not a trend setter or follower." I told him and he nodded.

"Understandable." He said and I nodded. It went quiet between us and I looked at him.

"Um, what did you do when you got kicked out of music?" I asked him and he laughed ad he leaned back. He seemed to be more comfortable with the subject.

"I chilled in the bathroom a bit texting a friend and then I was sent to the principal's office. It's not the first time I've gotten in trouble like that and it most certainly will not be the last." He told me, giving me a smile.

"I don't doubt it." I said and he nodded. "I've never actually gotten in trouble. I want to do things that cause trouble, but I also don't want to get in trouble because then everyone will be upset." I explained.

"Sometimes, the best thing to do is to just not give a single fuck." He told me and smiled at me. "You just have to do what you want sometimes."

"Yeah, but I'm fine the way I am." I said and smiled smally.

"Whatever you say love."
