Katelyn's point of view

"Hi Jacob." I said and smiled to myself. "How have things been? How's the guys? Your work? Kaleb? Your family?"

"Hi Kate." He said and chuckled. "Everything is fine. I'm getting paid a little extra each hour since I'm coming in earlier and Kaleb just won a basketball game."

"That's great." I said and hummed. "How's Luke and Ashton?" I asked him.

"Ashton is fine. Bryana left but he's spending time with his family. As for Luke, he's still a wreck. I swear to god I can hear him crying when I pass by the house." He told me and I sighed.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." He said and chuckled. "Off of this sad topic. How's school over there? How Calum and Michael? How are you?"

"I'm fine, a bit homesick but fine." I said and laid down on my back. "School is fine. The two are fine. Everything is fine."

"Not great? Not terrible?"

"A few bad things happened but I don't want to get into detail. It makes me uncomfortable." I said and he agreed, telling me I didn't have to tell him if I didn't want to.

"I miss you." He said and I sighed. "It's weird without you here. I got used to you calling before work and during my break. I also got used to driving you around places."

"I miss you too but at least you can buy yourself something nice with the money you save." I said and laughed. "I'd call you a lot but I don't want to bring up your phone bill. You know this call probably costs a fortune due to is being on different continents."

"I'd pay any price just to keep in touch." He said and I smiled a bit, a small giggle escaping my lips. "Anyways, how did you, Calum, and Michael spend Halloween?" He asked since it passed a week ago or so.

"We didn't do much we sat around and ate candy. We even jammed out a bit on the drums, bass, and guitar, it was cool. I learned like five of their songs and I also learned Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. It's the only song I know."

"That's amazing love." He said and chuckled. "That also sounds like a lot of fun, considering the fact Michael's an amazing guitarist. It probably drowned out the sound of your drumming."

"Hey." I whined and he laughed. "I'm a... decent drummer. Don't bash." I said and we laughed. "How did you spend it?"

"Took my little sister out trick or treating. She was the pink power ranger and she made me be the red one." He said and I smiled.

"How cute is that." I said and laughed. "You should have sent me pictures. You in a Power Rangers would have made my whole entire year." I said and he chuckled.

"I'll post them on instagram or something." He said and I nodded. "Anyways, so you're on break right now? Right?"

"Yeah, I have next week off for Thanksgiving." I said since it was Saturday. "Why? Thinking of dropping by?" I joked.

"I wish." He said and I chuckled. "I just need to find a way to miss a week of school during testing week and gain about two hundred dollars."

"I think we should stick to Skype, social media, and occasional phone calls for now." I said and he agreed with a chuckle.

"I dyed my hair recently." He told me and I gasped. "It's like a weird black and purple color. If you ask Michael about those colors, he'll know how I did it. It's like the same as his."

"I'll ask later on. He's talking shit about me with Calum." I said and he laughed. "I can hear you talking shit Clifford! You too Hood!"

"I just said you're doing well at school!" Michael yelled back and I laughed. I rolled my eyes and I could hear Jacob laugh aswell.

"You're an idiot love." He said and I nodded. "What am I going to do with you?" He asked as I sat up.

"Nothing really since you're in Australia and I'm in California." I teasing and he chuckled. "The most you can do is lecture me."

"We'll see, maybe I can do something." He said and I rolled my eyes as I laughed. "I know people."

"Yeah, so do I." I said sassily. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"California had changed you. We need to get you back to Sydney ASAP." He told me and I giggled a bit. "Get your ass back here."

"Oh, so you just want my ass over there? Not the rest of me?" I teased. "Nice Jacob. I feel so great about myself now."

"You know I love the rest of you." He laughed out. "You know what I mean. Don't make me sound like a dick."

"But you are." I pouted and sat up on my bed, leaning my back against the wall. "You are what you eat."

"That made no sense babe, you suck not eat, but I'll laugh just because I haven't heard from you in like two weeks." He said as he laughed.

"Suck sucky." I said and he laughed harder. If I was there with him, he would have pushed me away from him while shaking his head.

"God, I hate you sometimes." He said and I rolled my eyes. "I love you but I hate you sometimes."

"You just hate how much you love me booboo." I said and I could just imagine him rolling his eyes at me.

"That's probably not the case but whatever floats your boat booboo." He said and I chuckled, not catching how he said probably.

"Hey Katelyn, Calum's leaving on an hour." Michael said and I jumped up. "Is that Jacob on the phone?" He asked and I nodded. "Let me talk to him."

I handed him the phone and then ran downstairs. I saw Calum standing by the wall with his phone in his hand and I jumped on his back.

"Hey Luke, I'll call you back." Calum said and I furrowed my eyebrows together. Lately Calum and Michael have been calling Luke and it confuses me.

I thought they didn't like him?

"Yeah, got it. I love you too bro. Yeah, see you." Calum said and then hung up. "Hey Katelyn." He said and I set my chin on his shoulder as he kept me up.

"You're leaving?" I asked and he nodded. "Why? I just got on break." I said and pouted.

"I have to go be with my family too love." He said and I nodded. "Not everyone gets to be with their parents all the time."

"Yeah, I see." I said because I forgot they were in a band. I forgot they don't get to see their families often.

"You'll see me again soon, it's inevitable. You guys are coming down for Christmas." He said and I nodded. "You'll survive."

"I guess." I said and kissed his cheek. "I'll miss you because Christmas is still weeks away. Weeks are long too."

"I'll miss you too love."

"Stay safe okay? Planes are scary and I don't want you do die in that thing. It may not seem like it but you're very important to me and millions of other girls." I said and he nodded.

"I'll be fine, and I know." He said and nodded. "Everyone loves me."

"Because you're hot." I said and shrugged. "Kidding, you're a wonderful person."

"But I'm hot too right?" He asked me. "I'm a good person and I'm attractive at the same time?"

"Yes Calum." I said and he nodded. "The person must be blind if they think you're unattractive and a bad person."

"What did I just walk in on?" Michael asked and I looked at him. "Jacob had to go, his mum needed him to do the dishes. He told me to tell you that he loves you and will see you soon."

"Aww, I love that dork too." I said and chuckled. "Be safe Calum okay?" I said as he set me down.

"Of course. I'll see you soon Mikey." Calum said and rhe two shared a hug. "You're not getting these clothes back either." He said and Michael laughed.

"That's fine. I'll see you soon dude." He said and Calum nodded. "Go catch your plane." He told him.

"Got it. Bye Katelyn, bye Michael." He said and then left. I chuckled and Michael picked me up.

"Does my little Katelyn want to help me cook dinner?" Michael asked and I looked at him. "I have hamburger meat, spaghetti noodles, canned spaghetti sauce, and sausage."

"Let's do it." I said and nodded. He set me me down and we went to the kitchen. We washed out hands and then he opened the fridge.

"We need the meat, about a quarter of the sauage, and then you need to grab salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic salt." He told me and I grabbed what he needed.

"Did you know, salt is made out of sodium and chloride, two highly reactive and poisonous elements." I said as I grabbed the salt.

"No, and I did not want to know nor did I need to know. That is one of the many useless facts school teaches you." He said as he grabbed the chopping board.

He chopped up some of the sausage and I pulled out a saucepan and a large bot. "Boil the noodles." He told me and I nodded as I filled the pot with water.

"Did you know-"

"I probably did not know and I probably don't want to know." He told me and I laughed. "What? You gonna tell me that bot isn't stainless steel?"

"No, if you brought a charged something towards the water, it will bend away from it." I said and he looked at me as I filled the pot with hot water.

"I didn't need to know that."

"Well you do now." I said and nodded as I set the pot on ths stove. I turned the burner on and put a pinch of salt in it and then looked at Michael.

"Do you want to-"

"No more useless science facts please." He said and looked at me. "Please."

"I was going to ask if you wanted me to play music off of my phone as we cook. I wasn't going to give you another fun fact." I told him and he nodded.

"Go for it. Play some music, but no Shawn Mendes and stuff like that. I don't like that stuff." He said and I nodded.

"I know what you'll like." I said as I nodded, a sly smile on my lips as I grabbed my phone. A laugh escaped my lips as I played a song and I heard him drop the knife.

"Oh god." He said and looked at me. I laughed and danced around, my phone in my hand. "Turn that off. That's terrible."

"How do I turn it off? I can't remember." I teased and he chased me around as I kept the song playing on my phone.

"I hate that song. Turn it off!"

"Last night what a blur, woke up lying next to her," I yelled the lyrics as I jumped over the coffee table. "Last night made a mess, doesn't get better than this!"

"How did you get that? Come on, turn it off!" He whined and I stopped as is looked at him. "I know we put it out on YouTube but why would you download such a terrible song?"

"Who's that girl from last night anyway?" I imitated as the line came on and he glared at me. "Damn, she's so amazing."

"Kate-"

"Last night, what a blur, woke up lying next to her!" I yelled as I dodged him. He laughed, despite his irritated facade, and I laughed aswell.

"You suck!"

"And you swallow!"
