Chapter 8
Right before we left the fair, Barrett said, "I have one more surprise."
"What is it?" I asked, excitedly. She pulled something out of her pocket. They were Dear Evan Hanson tickets! I gasped and hugged her. "Thank you so much!" She laughed.
"No problem."
We got ready for the show. I put on a red dress the Barrett got me with black ballet flats. She did a french braid for me. We went out to a pasta restaurant where she signed some autographs for fans. Then, it was time for the show. We took our seats and the lights dimmed. I squealed, and she reminded me to be quiet.
"Oops, sorry." I whispered
"It's ok." She whispered back, "It's your first time."
The show was amazing. We both cried all through the second act. I got especially emotional during "Good For You", a song about how Evan's mother is always there for him. Barrett squeezed my shoulder and said, "It's ok. I'm here." I guess she is kind of like a mother to me. Though, no one can replace my real mother, she was always there.
After the show, we didn't leave. I was confused. "What's going on?" I asked.
"There are some people I'd like you to meet," she replied with a smile. We walked backstage. OMG. STANDING IN FRONT OF ME WERE BEN PLATT, MIKE FAIST, AND LAURA DREYFUSS! There was a girl, a few years older than me, hiding behind Laura.
"Hi," I said sheepishly, "I'm Bella."
"I'm Mike of Faist."
"I'm Ben."
"I'm Laura."
"What's your name?" I asked the girl behind Laura.
"Sadie." She said, still behind Laura.
"Cool," I said, "I'm Bella."
"Hi." She replied, looking nervous. She whispered something to Laura and Laura nodded.
"We should probably get going," Laura said, "It's getting late. Maybe we can hang out tomorrow?"
"Sounds good," Barrett told her.
