I was sitting in my hospital bed, playing Uno with Taylor, Ashley, and Kate, who were visiting me, when the doctor walked in. She talked to Barrett privately for a few minutes. Barrett came back, a sad look on her face. "Bella?" She said, "we need to talk."

"What is it?" I asked, getting nervous.

"Your arm isn't healing the way that the doctors had hoped. You're going to have to get a surgery." She told me.

"A surgery?" I asked, trying not to freak out, "when?!"

"This afternoon." She said.

"What?!" I exclaimed.

She patted my shoulder. "I know it's a lot, but you're brave. You can do this." I continued playing Uno to try to take my mind of it but I was so distracted that I kept loosing. A few hours later, the doctor came in. 

"Bella Greene?" She called, "It's time for your IV." I winced at my last name and started to freak out as she led me into her office. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and squeezed Barrett's hand. I felt a sharp pinch in my hand. I opened my eyes. 

"You did it!" Barrett said, hugging me carefully, so not to hurt me. It was time for the surgery. I lay down in the hospital bed, and they started giving me anesthesia. 

"I can't fall asleep!" I yelled, "I- I just can't!" The nurse looked over at me.

"Don't worry," Barrett said, "I'll handle this." She turned to me. "It's ok. I know that you're scared, but that's what bravery is. Doing something even if you're scared." I nodded. She rubbed my head and started singing. 

"Cheap, fake, easy to break. That's how I used to be." My eyes started to get heavy.

"Now I'm awake, I'll tell you what I see. Plastic don't shine , glitter don't shine, rhinestones don't shine the way you do." I felt myself relax. 

"You are so real. You are so rare. I see you there. I see you...." I closed my eyes.

"I see stars, so many stars tonigh-" 😴 zzz
