Chapter Two

Sophia's point of view

I sat in the car, Michael in the driver's seat and Calum taking the passenger seat. My fingers tapped on my leg to the beat of the song playing and I stared out of the window as building, pedestrians, and cars passed by.

"What should we go shopping for first? Clothes? Shoes? Room decorations?" Calum asked me as he turned around. "We brought a lot of money so it doesn't matter about the price."

"I um don't know." I said honestly. "Whatever we pass by first I guess?" I said questionably and he nodded, telling Michael to pull up into the mall that was on the next exit.

"What's this song called?" I asked and Calum told me it was one of their own songs. "You have your own songs on your playlist?" I asked with a chuckle and he nodded.

"Yep, and it's called 'Kiss Me Kiss Me'." He told me. I nodded, actually listening to it because I quite liked it. It was catchy and the beat just pulled you in.

"I like the beat," I said and he smiled. "And that instrumental was amazing too." He thanked me and then looked at Michael.

"I feel accomplished knowing the girl we adopted likes our music." Michael said and I laughed. "Anyways, we're here, come on kids." He said and Calum just rolled his eyes. I could see it from the rear view mirror.

"You're older by like a year, shut up Michael." Calum said as I got out of the car. I pulled my jeans up and then followed the two to the entrance of the mall.

"Your hair is going to get us noticed Michael." Calum said and I laughed. Michael shot back that his tattoos were going to get them noticed and I rolled my eyes.

"You're idiots." I said and they agreed. "I have my snapback, you can borrow it." I told him and took the maroon hat off. Michael took it and then put it on, hiding his hair a bit.

"I don't wanna put my flannel on though. It's just for the look." Calum whined and Michael gave him a look. "Fine. Fine." He grumbled and put the red long sleeved on.

"There, now come on. We need to get little miss Sophia some things." Michael said and I grimaced at the nickname. My name is Sophia, not 'little miss Sophia' or 'cutie', just Sophia.

"Come on, let's start at Forever 21 and just walk down the stores." Michael told me and I nodded. I followed him into the store and we went straight to the jeans. "Wait, you don't wear those short shirts do you? The ones that show your stomach a bit?"

"Sometimes." I said and looked down at the shirt I had on. "See?" I asked and he looked at the shirt I was wearing. It was a crop top and it had the batman symbol on it.

"Okay." He said and nodded. "Um pick out the things you like and get them in your size I guess." He told me and I nodded as I looked around.

I didn't really know what I wanted, so I just looked around for things I would wear in here. I grabbed a pair of maroon skinny jeans and my first instinct was to check the price tag. These jeans costed over thirty dollars... no thank you.

"You know," I jumped at the voice and turned around. "You don't have to worry about the price. We have credit cards with thousands in them. It's okay." He told me but I was still unsure. He grabbed the jeans and then handed them to me. "You seem like you'd fit in th is size, go on, try them on. If you like them, we can buy them."

I nodded and went to the dressing room. I looked at the jeans and then quickly stripped the jeans I had on off to try them on, surprised he grabbed ones that fit me perfectly. Once I finished, I looked in the mirror. I did like them actually...

I stepped out of the bathroom and then called Calum's name out. "Do you want them? Do they fit right?" He asked me and I nodded. "I'll go pick out some other jeans you may like, go change out of those." I nodded and then stepped back inside of the cubicle to change back.

I stepped out once I finished and then looked for a really tall, really tanned, dark haired boy. As I was looking for him, I had accidently bumped into a girl. "I'm so sorry." I told her and she looked at me.

Wow... she had such pretty eyes. They were so bright and so blue. It was as if her eyes sucked out all of the color in the sky.

"It's fine." She told me and I smiled. "I love your shirt." She told me and then showed me she had a similar one on. "Batman for life, am I right?"

"Yeah." I said and she smiled. "You're here by yourself?" I asked as I noticed no one around in the store and she nodded, asking me the same. "No um I'm here with my dads."

"You have two dads?" I nodded and she smiled. "That's cute." I thanked her questionably because well, I guess it's cute. "What are you looking for anyways?" She asked me.

"My dads." I answered and she laughed. She told me she'd help me find them and I thanked her. She told me it was fine and then we walked around, looking for the two.

"Do you have a phone?" I nodded and pulled out the phone the guys had bought me. After dinner they helped me set it up and everything. She told me to put her number in it and I did, going to my contacts and typing in the number she gave me.

"Sophia. There you are." I heard Calum's voice. "You'd think being tall would let you find people more quickly because you can see over stuff." He told me and I laughed.

"Come on, we still need to buy you some shirts and stuff." He told me and I looked at the girl I didn't even know the name off.

"Call me sometime. We could go to the mall again and look around." She told me and I nodded. "I'll see you around." I nodded again and she walked away.

"You make friends quickly." Calum told me and I laughed. "Now, I have an armful of jeans I think you'd like and should try on." He told me and I nodded.

"Let's go to the dressing room then." I said as he handed me the jeans. There was seven of them, and they all looked so nice. "Where's Michael?" I asked and he shrugged, telling me he probably got distracted and went to some food shop.

-

"Michael, Calum, we've been in over ten stores, made over two trips back to the car to put our bags away, and have walked over a mile, can we stop now?" I asked the two, my arms heavy with bags from this store called 'Hot Topic'.

"Yeah Calum? Can we stop now? Maybe we can pick up some Panda Exress and actually go to buy things for her room. She probably has more clothes than all of us combined by now." Michael said and Calum nodded.

"Yeah, let's go put these in the car and we can go get something to eat. Also, we can stop by a store to pick up some things for your room. Simple things like frames and lamps and stuff." I nodded and we made our way to the car for the fifth time now.

We put them in the trunk of the car and I got in, buckling my seat belt. "What song do you want to listen to Sophia?" Calum asked me as Michael started the car.

"Do you have Little Mix's new song 'Black Magic'?" I asked and he told me he could just play it off of Spotify. I nodded and then soon the song began playing. I smiled and hummed along because this was one of my favorite songs at the moment.

"It's amazing how you can go from listening to Green Day to this." Michael told me and I agreed. "It's not bad though. It's really catchy." He said and I nodded.

"It is." Calum agreed aswell. "There is this song from them I really, really like but I can't remember the name of it." I began to list off their songs and he laughed. "'Move', there we go. I really like that one."

He played it and Michael rolled his eyes at him. "You're a chick Calum."

"No. I just appreciate good a good song with amazing vocals and a catchy beat." He said and I smiled. "Besides, you know it's catchy Mikey. Come on, you know you want to sing along."

"No I don't."

"Yes you did."

"No-"

"Yes-"

"I do-"

"I know you do."

"Oh look, Panda Express. Let's go get some." Michael said and pulled into a parking space. I laughed and then unbuckled my seat belt as he turned off the car.

I got out of the car and followed them into the building. We stood in line and I saw girls taking pictures of us. I tried to ignore them because maybe they were fans and didn't want our attention, but to merely update others on where they boys were. However, they soon came up to us and asked for pictures and about me.

"This is Sophia." Calum said after the photos and I smiled. "We love you guys and all, and I hate being rude, but we're kind of trying to spend time together before we're too busy." He said and they nodded, saying they understood.

The girls sat down and we went up to the counter. They let me order first, which I didn't get too much, and then they ordered. Michael handed her some money and then we took a seat at the tables provided after they handed us our plates, well, styrofoam boxes.

"Ashton and Luke asked us to pick them up some food." Michael said and then looked at the counter. "How about after we get your stuff, we go pick them up some pizza or something. I'm not about to wait in line again."

"Sounds good." Calum said and I agreed. I ate my food quietly as they talked about their upcoming interviews and award shows, briefly mentioning I had to join them.

I nodded, already knowing I'd have to go with them. However, I didn't think I'd have to actually appear on the interview. "We have to introduce you to the fanbase and to everyone."

"And-And I have to speak? On live television? In front of possibly millions?" They nodded as if it wasn't a big deal and I ran a hand through my hair, tugging slightly.

Soon, we all finished our food and went back to the car. I buckled up and then Calum handed me his phone, telling me to play a song since he was growing tired of listening to the songs he knew and liked.

I played the song 'Beautiful Liar' by Beyonce and Shakira. I handed the phone back to Calum and then listened to the song. I could see him smiling as Michael gave him this look.

"Shut up Michael." He'd say. "Don't bring it up." He'd tell him. "I'll kill you of you speak of it." He told him.

"I bet Sophia is just dying to know what's going on, aren't you?" I nodded and Calum just covered his face. "So, I'm going to tell you the story."

"Don't do i-"

"Me and Calum used to be friends when we were younger and he used to be really into songs like this. Keep in mind, we were probably like fifteen, sixteen." Michael explained and I nodded.

"Stop i-"

"Well, I went to his house one day and he was listening to this song, the music video playing on his television." He told me, looking at me through the rear view mirror.

"Don-"

"And-And when I walked into his room," Michael said and looked at Calum while laughing. "When I was went into his room, he was dancing to this song. I don't mean like hopping and break dancing and all that."

"Mich-"

"Calum here was shirtless, and was dancing like those belly dancers. You know the ones who shake their hips a lot and show off their stomach?" I nodded and looked at Calum, who was all red and smiling so hard I thought his cheeks would cramp.

"Shut up Michael." He said as he laughed, probably remembering that day. "Don't bring it up. That was a terrible day in my life." He told him and I laughed.

"The store is on this next exit Michael, turn over to the left lane." Calum told Michael and he nodded, turned on the blinkers to signal he was going to be switching lanes. It seems this topic on Calum being a belly dancer has been dropped now.

"How do you want to decorate your room?" Michael asked me and I shrugged. "You don't know?"

"I'm just going to hang up some pictures, that's all I was planning on doing." I said honestly. "I don't know. Maybe you could help me?" I asked and they nodded.

"Of course we can." Michael told me. "If you don't like what we pick out, feel free to tell us okay? It won't hurt our feelings or anything." He added.

"Of course."

-

"We're home!" Michael yelled and I stumbled into the gouse, my arms full of bags of clothes. "And we bought you two some hamburgers! We were gonna get pizza but we didn't have space."

I went up to my room and dumped all of the bags on the floor. I went back downstairs and to the car, grabbing more bags because there was so many.

"Let me help you." Someone said and I jumped. "Sorry sweetie," I turned around and saw Ashton. He took the bags from me plus some more from the house and then went back into the house.

I grabbed a bunch of bags myself and then made my way back to my room. I set them on the bed and Michael was in thetr, putting a few bags down. "You start putting all of this away, we'll get the last of them." I nodded and opened the bags, taking all of the jackets, long sleeves, and things such as out.

I hung them up in my closet and then opened my dresser. I began to fold my jeans and tuck them away. I had this little thing where everything had to be organized and so by the time I finished, you could easily pick out whatever you needed.

I grabbed my shirts and I heard my bed creak. "Let me help," I heard Calum say and I looked at him. "And lets play some music. Everything is better with music."

I nodded and pulled my phone out, playing and random song off of my playlist that I created before we went shopping. The song 'I Kissed A Girl' by Katy Perry played and I hummed along as I put my clothes away.

Calum began to sing along and I smiled, a chuckle escaping my lips. "Where do you want your shorts?" He asked me and I bent down. I opened a bottom drawer and told him to fold them and put them in there.

He nodded and began to help me put them away. I grabbed the bag full of my undergarments, which was really awkward shopping for might I add, and then put them in the nightstand beside my bed.

"Here's the stuff for your bathroom." Michael said and walked in, handing me a few bags. I thanked him and he nodded.

I went to go put them away and I almost cringed at how much was in there. I didn't like how they bought me so much stuff. I felt guilty that they had bought me so much clothes and bathroom things.

"Oh my god you listen to songs like this?" Calum shrieked as a really dirty sing came on. "This song is literally all about sex." He told me and I laughed.

"It's not that bad." I told him and he rolled his eyes. "Besides, it's just a song. The beat is catchy, I like it. It's not like I'd actually do this." I told him and he noddded, agreeing with me.

"Don't let Ashton know you listen to this. He'll freak the fuck out." He said and I laughed. "Cause I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it," he sang along to Rihanna and I laughed.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whilst excite m-"

"Calum! What in the world are you letting her listen to? This is like about hardcore stuff. Turn your playlist off." I heard someone say and wow Ashton, of course. You just had to show up.

"Fine." Calum said, taking blame and he switched the song. I told him to leave it on this one because I liked it and he nodded.

I hummed along as we put the stuff away and then I took a seat on my bed. "How about we wait to decorate? You seem tired." Calum told me and I nodded. "Don't sleep yet though, you haven't eaten dinner."

"Come downstairs with me, we can chill and watch some movies." I nodded and then told him I'd be downstairs after I finished changing. He nodded and told me he'd look for a movie.

I closed the door and then went to my dresser. I grabbed a pair of leggings and then a random white tank-top. I changed into it and threw my clothes into a basket in the corner of the room. The dirty laundry basket.

I pulled my hair into a messy side braid and then put my shoes in the closet against the wall. When I finished, I went downstairs after turning the music off and then sat beside Calum. "Furious 7 or Pitch Perfect 2?" He asked me.

"Whichever one is funnier." He nodded and told me we were watching Pitch Perfect 2.
