Vanessa's point of view
"Young love, close the chapter," I sang as I unpacked my bags. "There's no ever after, fell fast, ended faster yeah," I continued, folding away my clothes in a nearby dresser.
"Cause you walked out and left me stranded, nothing left but picture frames," I sang, holding a picture came of me and my real parents. "And I keep on asking myself..."
"How'd we drift so far away, from where we left off yesterday? I'm lonely like a castaway," I sang loudly, setting the frame on the dresser by the lamp.
I continued to unpack, coming across another memory of my parents. I grabbed the locket, opening up the compass. "Eyes closed, all I see is good times disappearing, and I'm trying to hold on," I hummed, smiling at my parents from when they were pregnant with me to the last day I saw them.
Soon, someone came jumping in the room, singing the lyrics loudly. I laughed and then closed the locket, setting down on the bed as I turned around.
"You stopped singing, this is awkward." Arzaylea said and I smiled. "What's up?" She asked and I shook my head.
"Nothing, just caught up in unpacking."
"Need up? Luke's being lazy." She said and I chuckled. "He just plopped down on the couch with a beer." She informed me as she pulled clothes out of my bag.
"But-But Luke is a small child, he doesn't drink beer." I said and pouted as I took my long sleeves, hanging them up. "Liz wouldn't approve."
"Liz wouldn't approve of half the things he does." She told me and I nodded. "Where do you want your shirts?" She asked and I pointed to the large dresser inside of the closet.
She nodded and opened it, setting the folded shirts inside. "Jeans too?" She asked and I nodded.
"The boys are coming over for dinner, I hope you don't mind." She told me and I shook my head. "They're recording tomorrow, so we have a day to ourselves. How about we do a little online shopping?"
"Um sure," I said, although I didn't like the idea of them spending money on me already. They already forcefully bought me food, I don't need them immediately buying me clothes too. "That sounds fun."
"Is that it?" She asked as I grabbed my converse out of the bag, putting them in the bottom of my closet. I nodded and she hummed. "Maybe we'll do shopping tonight and tomorrow."
I laughed and she took the suitcase, telling me she'll put it in Luke's bedroom for me. I nodded and then took my make-up, carefully arranging it by the vanity mirror. I sat down on the stool, putting a different kind of cosmetic in each of the small drawers.
I took the locket and hung it off of the top of the mirror, the way it's sculpted allowing me to do it. I left it opened, the two pictures for show.
I set my Ipod down and then grabbed whatever was left on the bed, chokers, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings, etc. and then put them away neatly in the drawers aswell. I made a mental note to label them so I don't forget, and then wrote a physical one as well because I forget easily.
"Let's go bother Luke." Arzaylea spoke and I nodded as I stood up. I followed her downstairs and she cleared her throat.
She began to sing lyrics to songs I don't know and I just watched as Luke watched her, more amused than bothered. "Hi." I said and he looked at me.
"Hi love."
Arzaylea turned the television off and then crossed her arms. "You watch TV day." She pouted and he laughed as he drank some of his beer.
"Okay, what should I do then?" He asked and rose an eyebrow at her. She shrugged and I sat down on the couch. "Did you do just come in here and decide to bother me?"
"Her idea." I said and he looked at Arzaylea. "She said to do it." I said and she gasped.
"I thought we were a team!"
"When it comes to Luke Hemmings, there are no teams. Bye." I said and stood up, walking around randomly in the house.
I heard them laugh and I blushed, asking myself if I really just said that in front of them. There was a knock on the door and I decided to answer it because why not?
I unlocked it and then looked at the three guys who stood there. "Hey L-You are not Luke." Michael Clifford spoke and I gulped.
"Obviously," I said and Calum chuckled. "I'm hotter than he is." I said and then let them in.
"Yeah," Calum said, trailing the word off. "Is Luke and Arz here?" He asked and I nodded.
"Hemmings, who is the little girl!" Michael yelled and I frowned a bit as he ran away, not even bothering to aways me who I was. He went straight to Luke.
I locked the door and Ashton smiled at me. "He didn't mean to hurt your feelings love, it's just hard to trust people, girls especially, when you're in a band lime us." He told me.
"I guess." I said and played with the bottom of my dress. "Arzaylea?" I asked and she looked at me, nodding a bit.
"Yes?"
"Do you have shorts I can borrow?" I asked shyly and she nodded. "I only have denim ones..."
"Yeah, go ahead." She said and I thanked her. I went to her room and then grabbed a pair of her basketball shorts. I put them on after taking the dress off, leaving me in a sports bra and the maroon shorts.
I went to my room, throwing on a random black shirt. I put my boots beside my converse in the closet and then made a small pile of dirty clothes by the closet.
I went downstairs and then sat down on the couch awkwardly. "I'm sorry for bring rude, I wasn't excepting a minor to open the door." Michael said and I nodded.
"I'm not sure what you mean by that but okay. Apology accepted." I told him and he nodded.
"So, they adopted you?" He asked and I nodded. "If it's not too much of a hassle um, what happened to your real parents?" He questioned.
"They died. We went to a uh family reunion and on the way back we were arguing, like we always had, and were hit by a large truck head on, right? Um, they were in the front so they died on impact, but I didn't. I got out with stitches and stuff." I said and he winced.
"Where did you get stitches?" Calum asked and I lifted some of my hair. I showed them the scarred area, a thin line in the back of my head and he hissed. "Ouch."
"I got some on my back too but um, I'd rather not, you know." I said and he nodded as I put my hair down. "Yeah, I don't talk about it much. It bothers me, but I'm kind of numb on the subject, so that's why I'm not in tears."
"I shouldn't have asked." Michael said and smiled, sneaking a small glare at Luke. "And you made her carry all those bags upstairs didn't you?"
"I didn't know!" He said and held his hands up. "It's wasn't in her files. All it said was car accident and somewhat minor injuries." He told them and I chuckled.
"It's fine." I said and Ashton wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "I'm not that little, I can do things on my own."
"Still."
"You're a little survivor," Ashton said and I looked down at my legs. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. Do you have anything of your parents?"
"She has a few pictures, a locket, her mother's jewelry, and all of their like money and stuff. When she's sixteen, she's going to be a baller." Arzaylea said and I nodded.
"I was an only child, they said I'd get all their belongings. I'm not too excited about it. Money and objects won't magically bring them back." I said and they smiled sadly at me.
"You have us, and we're not going to be dying of a car accident anytime soon." Luke said and I laughed as he hugged me. I thanked him and he kissed my cheek. "When you're sixteen we'll let you do something about the inheritance, as for now, you're too young."
"One year." I said and Calum rose an eyebrow at me. "I'm fifteen." I told him and he nodded.
"You look seventeen to me." He said and I shrugged.
"What can you do?" I said and he shrugged himself. "Good news, I can get a fake I.D." I said and leaned back as I stretched.
"No you won't." Arzaylea said and I looked at her. "No one will be getting a fake I.D."
"Fine." I huffed and pulled my shirt down, seeing my stomach buldge out over the waistband of the shorts. "Tummy." I said and drummed on it.
"Tummy." Ashton said and drummed on his own stomach. I laughed and the stopped, realizing that was really weird of me.
Luke handed his beer to Michael and I yawned a bit. "Are you tired love?" Luke asked and I shrugged.
"Kind of." I told him and he nodded. "I don't want to sleep though."
"Do you want to play some footie?" Calum asked and I blinked a few times. "Soccer?"
"Oh, no thanks. I hurt my ankle the last time I did. I think you can still see the bruise." I said and flipped my foot over, showing them my semi-purple ankle.
He nodded and I leaned my head on Ashton as I closed my eyes. "Don't fall asleep on me." He whined and I laughed.
"I wasn't, but now I am." I said and cuddled up to the back of the couch, my head rested on Ashton's arm.
"Go up to your room." Arzaylea said and I groaned. "Vanessa, you can't just fall asleep on people."
"You can."
"You shouldn't." She corrected herself and I huffed. "Go on. We'll wake you up for dinner, promise."
"Okay." I said and stood up. "Night guys. See you when I wake up." I said and waved.
"Night Vanessa." Michael said and Luke gave me a smile. I ran upstairs and then went to my room, closing the door.
I laid down on the bed and then yawned, feeling extremely tired after today. I looked at the picture and smiled smally.
"Night mom, night dad." I said and then closed my eyes, my own fingers threaded in my hair and my other arm slung over a long pillow to cuddle into.
