Vanessa's point of view
"Guys!" I said as I ran inside. "Arzaylea!" I said happily and she hummed, looking at me. "Guess what!"
"You had a good first day?"
"Out of this world." I said and fell back on to the couch. "Oh my god, it was amazing." I said and Luke laughed.
"I seem to be asking this a lot, but what's got you so happy?" He asked asked he set his car keys down. "Make friends?"
"Yes, her name is Miranda, but that's not what made me all happy." I said and sat up. "So in choir, we're doing a bunch of songs from my favorite artists and the teacher said that if I keep up the good work, I can solo in a concert that's a month away."
"That's great!" Arzaylea said and smiled. "Isn't that amazing Luke?" She asked and he nodded.
"Just don't blow your voice out like I did." He said and laughed. "What songs?" He asked and I took the packet out, handing it to him.
"Drag Me Down, This Is Gospel, Centuries, Stressed Out, and Bohemian Rasphody." He read and I nodded. "Are you sure that Queen is appropriate for school?"
"The teacher said we were doing it so it must be." I told him and he nodded. "They're some of my favorite songs."
"Sounds like Ashton's Spotify playlist to me." Arzaylea said and Luke laughed. "It's true isn't it?"
"Yeah." Luke said and nodded as I closed my eyes. "Good songs. Here you go." He said and I took the packet back.
"We should go to the concert," Arzaylea said and I looked at them. Luke looked at her with an expression I couldn't read and she nodded. "We'll see if we could go. How about you go do your homework or something?"
"I didn't get any since I was new but okay, I can go do something." I said and took my stuff, going upstairs to my room.
I set my bag down and then sat on my bed, grabbing my laptop out from under it. I grabbed my black headphones and then plugged it into my laptop.
I went to an audio app I downloaded and then took a few songs that I thought would mix. Ayo by Chris Brown and Money by 5 Seconds of Summer.
I started layering, fixing the audio, the beats, the lyrics, everything. Money was the one you could hear the lyrics too, and partially the instrumental. I took the beat from ayo in the background playing, and the only part you could really hear was 'I need you', 'ayo', and the chorus about once in the middle of the song.
It took me maybe an hour to perfect it, and when I finished, I felt extremely proud of myself. I took my headphones off after listening to it a few times and then I saved it to the laptop, closing it after.
I went downstairs to show Luke and Arzaylea, but stopped when I heard my name. "We can't risk getting caught at the concert though, it's a highschool, full of teenage girls, we can't just bring security there."
"Vanessa is really excited about it Luke, come on. Pick up one or two guards and let's just go. I know you're not fond of the idea but you have to." She said and I frowned my eyebrows.
What wasn't he fond of?
"You're right. God, this is so much harder than I thought it'd be." Luke said and I went back upstairs.
I sat down on my bed and then sighed, putting my headphones on, deciding to just make more remixes and mashups.
-
By the time Luke came up to tell me it was dinner, I had made about six mashups, all of which had the band's songs in it. "What did you do up here all day?" He asked as I went downstairs.
"I made mashups and remixes." I said and he nodded. "I sent them to Michael because he wanted to hear them."
"They're actually coming over for dinner, so I'll just ask him for them." He said and I smiled as I nodded.
"If Calum asks, I totally didn't block out his bass in a few of them." I said and Luke laughed as he held as finger up to his lips.
I sat down on the couch and then stretched my arms, yawning softly as I lifted my glasses to rub my eyes, which didn't have make-up on them or around them. I moved my bangs out of my face and then I closed my eyes, feeling a bit tired.
"Don't go to sleep." Arzaylea said and the couch dipped in beside me. "No sleeping, we're gonna watch movies and eat soon." She told me and I felt her head on my side.
I put my arm over her shoulders and she laughed as I opened my eyes. "Your butt just vibrated." She said and I reached for my phone.
"It's probably Miranda." I said and she nodded as I checked it. I read the text and then I replied to it with a few laughing emojis and 'You're half a smurf now'.
The doorbell rang and Luke said he'd get it. "Yeah, you get it Luke. Get it. Get that door." I said and Arzaylea laughed loudly with him. "Luke gets it."
"Where's Vanessa, I have a task for her!" Michael yelled and I told him I was in the living room. "Make a mash-up of the song All Signs Point To Lauderdale and She looks So Perfect." He told me and I nodded.
"I will... and you can help me." I said and he cheered. "Never thought I'd see the day where I could collaborate with Michael Clifford on something. Dreams do come true." I said and he laughed.
"I'm hungry." Calum said and Ashton agreed, immediately going into the kitchen. I chuckled and Arzaylea got up, helping me since my legs were asleep.
"Want me to make you a plate?" Arzaylea asked me and I nodded, adding a 'please'. "Pick a movie, I'll go make it.'
I sat back down and then grabbed the remote, looking through the movies that were on. I played a random movie that was funny and had good reviews and then paused it so the others didn't have to rewind it.
I pulled my phone out and texted Miranda back, telling her I was gonna eat dinner so I might not reply as soon as she'd like. She said that it was fine and I stretched a bit, pulling my tank-top down since it rode up too much.
Ashton was the first to come into the living room, and he sat on the opposite side of the couch so he could put his plate on the armrest. "So, I told Bryana about you." He told me and I nodded.
"And..."
"She wants to meet you," he told me as I fixed my glasses. "She said that because not only was your dad famous, but she wants to know who 'Larzaylea' adopted." He told me and I laughed.
"Sounds like a disease name, not going to lie." I said and he nodded as I chuckled. "When does she want to meet?"
"Saturday." He said and I nodded. "So, keep that in mind when you wake up at noon. We may or may not barge in and drag you with us."
"Sounds like kidnapping..." I trailed off and he laughed. "I'll go. I'm being kidnapped by Ashton Irwin and Bryana Holly," I hummed as I rested my cheek on my knees since they were pulled up to my chest. "Fun."
"I'll tell her that you agreed." He told me and I nodded. Someone tapped my head and I hummed. "Food." Ashton said and I sat up.
"Here you go." Arzaylea said and I thanked her as I grabbed my bowl of pasta. "Mum's recipe, hope you like it." She told me and I nodded as she went back into the kitchen.
"How was school?" Ashton asked and I smiled. "Go good?" He asked and I nodded.
"Very." I said. "I made a new friend, I'm a Soprano on choir, I might to get solo in choir at a concert, I also have an extremely hot spanish teacher that will play guitar while the we work." I said and he nodded.
"Why didn't I get to go to school here in America, that sounds fun!" He said and I nodded.
"It is." I said and soon, everyone was leaving the kitchen to sit down around the couch and coffee table.
"Ready?" Luke asked and I nodded, handed him the remote as I forked some of the pasta into my mouth.
He played the movie and I moved a bit, making Calum glance at me since he was beside me. Arzaylea took a chair to herself and Luke ate by the coffee table with Michael.
We must have looked like a giant family, and the mere thought of it sent tingles in my stomach.
