If I Say The Wrong Thing-
Pippa's POV:
"Do you think she's OK?"
"How's you find her, Christina?"
"Do you know her name?"
I heard lots of whispers, and I opened my eyes. I saw light, and I shut my eyes again.
I felt someone take my hand. "It's OK, sweetie," said a woman's voice, warm and kind.
"You're in safe hands."
I slowly opened my eyes again and saw a bunch of people. My jaw slammed shut, and I whimpered in fear.
But then, I saw her. The lady I saw before I fainted. She smiled warmly.
"I'm Christina. Are you OK?"
I nodded. "I'm scared."
Christina blinked. "I'm sorry. What was that?"
I signed again. "I'm scared."
One of the women, a blonde lady, paid attention to my hands.
"She's using sign language. She must be mute."
"I'm scared. Terrified. Help."
"She's scared," a man said.
I nodded. Christina looked at me.
"What's your name, honey?"
I took Christina's arm and spelled slowly. "P. I. P. P. A."
"Pippa? Your name is Pippa?"
I nodded and smiled. A man took my hand.
"Nice to meet you, Pippa. I'm Jordan."
I nodded again. These people were nice.
I noticed I was in a hospital. "What happened?"
I signed it really quickly, so another lady left and found a translator.
"Sign that again, little one," she said, and I sighed.
"Can someone tell me what happened?"
"She's confused. What happened?"
Christina looked at me. "You fainted in my arms, and me and Jodie-"
She gestured to the blonde woman. "We called an ambulance and sent you here."
I nodded again. It made sense.
"I'm sorry for bothering you. I was just running."
Christina blinked. "From what, Pippa?"
I hesitated. "A house fire. My dad was helping and he told me to run. So I did."
The nice lady translated the sentences, and a black woman gasped.
"That's terrible. No wonder you were exhausted."
Christina took my hand. "It's gonna be OK, Pippa. I'm gonna take care of you, OK?"
I nodded slowly. I didn't want anything to happen to Christina, she seemed really nice.
"Can we leave now?"
Christina waited for the translation, and she gave me a hug. "Sure, Pip. Come on."
I hopped out of the hospital bed and walked with her. I looked at the others.
"You guys look familiar.."
Christina nodded. "We may be the cast of Heather the Musical. Have you heard of it?"
I nodded excitedly. "You guys are awesome!"
Christina gave me a smile. "That's sweet, Pippa. Come on, we'll take you to the theater."
