Abi/Kevin - Press Week

Abi's POV

I woke up to my husband on the phone, I smiled a bit, pushing myself up. I gently kissed his neck, happily. He ran his hand down through my bedhead.

"Baby, shh, shh, it's my cousin." He requested, and kept running his hands down my hair.

"You have a girl over?" I heard a guys muffled voice on his phone.

"Mmhm, my wife, you have to come visit, New York's a beautiful place." As he said that, I nuzzled back into bed, Kevin holding me. "Maria?" He asked, and I looked up, seeing him upset, "oh God..." he sighed, "yeah, yeah, I'll be there." He said.

"Kev? What happened?" I asked, concerned.

"Shh," he bent down and kissed my head, "no, she has a busy week ahead of her, um, okay, okay." He said into the phone, "mmkay, I'll see you Tuesday, Angel. Adios." He hung up, and set his phone down.

"What... what happened?" I asked.

"My aunt died." He sighed, "we need to talk."

"Okay." I whispered, sitting up in bed.

"I need to go to the funeral." He admitted, "it's this Tuesday."

"Oh." I sighed, Bonnie and Clyde opened on Friday, and it was our press week. (T: NOOOOOO)

"Don't worry, Bunny, I'll be back by Friday, I wouldn't miss that for the world." He gently rubbed my arm, "I just, I'll probably be gone from Sunday to Wednesday or Thursday."

"Okay." I smiled a little, "I'm really sorry about your aunt."

"It's okay, Love, I don't know my extended family that well. My dad had to move here for work, and was engaged to my mom, so, we're the only branch of the family who emigrated."

"Oh." I sighed. "I mean, I don't even know if I have any biological aunts or uncles." I shrugged.

"Luis and Luz? Your tío y tía. I know them." He smiled. (T: Oh kevin, you adorable, clueless human)

"Not... not biological." I bit my lip.

"Oh... I'm sorry sweetie, it slipped my mind." He kissed the very top of my head. "Now, before her first interview, I shall make my bride bacon." He announced scooping me up, and walking into the kitchen.

•••

"Okay, uh, just, call me when you land, okay?" I asked. I was standing at the gate with Kevin, holding his carry on suitcase.

"Of course." He smiled, taking the bag from me.

"And stay safe." I added, "I'm not losing you." I sighed slipping my arms around his neck.

"Don't worry, I'll be just fine. Now, make sure you eat and drink a lot, take your meds Bunny, I can't stress that enough. Have fun, it's press week, I will watch all of your interviews at my hotel I promise."

"Mmkay, I... I'll see you Thursday." I kissed him, sadly.

"Okay," he sighed, pulling away, "I love you, sweetheart, have a great week." He gently rubbed my arms, and then turned around to go onto the plane.

I stuck around until they closed boarding. At that point I sighed, and left the airport. I had a week full of interviews and such, all leading up to the opening night of my first Broadway show.

•••

"So, Abigail Miranda is finally making her Broadway debut." The lady interviewing me said, excitedly.

"Finally?" I asked, laughing a bit. "I'm right out of college, I wouldn't say finally."

"Well, I would say a lot of people have been expecting this." She shrugged.

"Why?" I asked, a little confused.

"Um, this may clear it up." She turned back to a screen behind her, and I saw a video of me dancing to My Shot in an old Hamilton rehearsal, with the ensemble. "Your father posted this when you were... fifteen or sixteen, captioning it 'she's right at home'."

"Oh." I giggled a little. "I guess, I mean, I loved that."

"Who wouldn't?" She replied smiling, "I feel you've made a lot of improvement since you were a teenager, because we found this Bonnie and Clyde rehearsal video." She pointed back to the screen, and I smiled, seeing a video of me singing 'too late to turn back now' from Bonnie and Clyde.

"I mean... I did go to college, hopefully I improved." I laughed a bit.

"True, true, now your co-star, Josh, he's phenomenal from what we've heard, but you're definitely the bigger name, I mean, of the two of you."

"Yeah, well, I mean, I was sorta well known because of my dad, not anything I did, but Josh is ten times the actor I am, he's just, amazing."

"Now, about your dad, how does he feel about you following in his footsteps? Is mom upset you're not following in hers?"

"Obviously my dad is thrilled, he's been at tons of our off-Broadway shows, and every one of our previews. Quite honestly, he's the show's biggest fan." I laughed a bit, "he bought one of our t-shirts, like, the one with me and Josh on it. He wore it out to dinner with some of the cast, oh it was hysterical." I continued laughing a little, "my mom on the other hand, I mean, she's a genius, I don't think she ever thought I would follow in her footsteps. I've always been more of a theatre kid." (T: abi, you and I have a lot in common)

•••

After my first interview, I turned my phone back on and saw several texts from my husband.

Kevie:
Just landed!

Kevie:
You're probably in your interview, hope it's going well

Kevie:
I forgot how beautiful it is here, baby. The first week you get off, we're vacationing here.

Kevie:
Pero todos aquí están hablando español y no estoy accostumbrado a esto.... por favor ayuda me...

My Abigail:
I'm sorry sweetheart. You don't have to use Spanish with me...

Kevie:
Yay! You're out of your interview, how did it go?

My Abigail:
Really well, actually. How's your family?

Kevie:
Awkward? We haven't spoken in years... I... I don't know.
(T: Hey same Kevin!)

My Abigail:
I get it, I'm sorry.

Kevie:
We're at dinner right now, I haven't had coquito in forever, I am living.

My Abigail:
Drown your awkward sorrow in coquito, Love

Kevie:
I am... I'm on my third.

Kevie:
Hope you don't mind, it has rum...

My Abigail:
Not at all, if you're drunk you don't have to make small talk.

I was sitting in bed watching my interview on Broadway.com. I bit my lip awkwardly, as I heard my laugh.

"I mean... I've fallen asleep in the bathtub on the stage before, like, I'm always tired!" Interview Abi said, and I hid my face in my hands. Did I black out? I don't remember saying any of this? Was discussing where I napped during rehearsal really something I wanted to share? I ended up turning my laptop off, and setting it on the ground by the bed.

@KevinMAlvarez - Watching @AbigailLAM on Broadway.com is the next best thing to actually being with her right now. 1 day down, 4 to go.

I smiled a bit, slipping down into the blankets.

@AbigailLAM - @KevinMAlvarez love you. I miss you. See you Thursday.

@KevinMAlvarez - @AbigailLAM Thursday's so far away tho. I love you too.

I hugged Kevin's pillow, which was in a worn Looney Toons pillowcase. I smiled a little, it smelled like him. I eventually drifted off to sleep, alone.

•••

Monday afternoon, I was at a restaurant, waiting for someone who wrote for Playbill.

"Miss? Would you like something to drink?" A waiter asked me.

"Huh? Oh, um, Diet Coke?" I requested.

"Of course." He smiled, jotted it down, and went back to the kitchen.

"Abigail Miranda?" A younger lady came up to me.

"Yes?"

"I'm Margaret Leonard, I'm with Playbill." She shook my hand.

"Oh yeah!" I smiled, "sit down!"

"Awesome, um, is it cool if I record this?" She asked, holding a tape recorder.

"Yeah, of course, hopefully I don't ramble like I did with Broadway.com." I groaned a bit.

"Well, don't worry, people like it when you ramble, it shows you're human." She reassured me, pulling a notepad out as well. (T: I thought her two legs, a brain, and physical makeup made her a human)

We talked for a few minutes, on my thoughts about Bonnie and Clydes relationship, my favorite shows growing up, and college.

"Mmkay, so, we just got photos from your and Josh's official photoshoot." She spread five or six photos out, and I blushed a little. "I must say, these are a little more sexy than we're used to from Lin-Manuel Miranda's little girl." (T: lol oops)

"Um, yeah, I guess, I mean, I..." I laughed a little, "I think the nightgown and the gun in the garter was a little more risqué than my dad would have liked."

"I mean you looked great." She smiled, reassuring me.

"Thanks, I mean, it's the character, and I'm close enough with Josh, I mean..." I trailed off.

"Yeah, about Josh, how long have you known him?"

"Um... I... I think we met when I was fifteen?"

"Woah! Really?" She asked, surprised.

"Mmhm, we were childhood friends! We actually met when we my high school went to see Hamilton." I shrugged.

"That's so cute." She smiled.

"Yeah, we sat together! We hit it off, and he actually joined the project after I did, I didn't know he was coming onboard, but I guess, the chemistry worked."

"Well it certainly looks fantastic, so...." she smiled at me, and I exhaled deeply.

•••

The interview ended shortly after that, and the week went on. My phone was flooded with pictures of Puerto Rico, and Kevins awkward texts, trying to escape socialization with his extended family.

Finally it was Wednesday night, I was in bed, texting my husband.

Kevie:
I thought I was going to be in a hotel... this is really awkward.

My Abigail
Sweetheart, they're trying to be hospitable

Kevie:
Yes, I get that, but I'm in a twin bed... in my cousins room, he's also in a twin bed, baby I'm not used to sleeping alone, I usually have you to talk to. And... I don't know... I miss you.

My Abigail:
Talk to your cousin! I'm sure he's missed you.

Kevie:
Mmkay, but I can't tell him how much I love him. I can't play with his hair, I can't kiss his head lightly, I can't call him Bunny, and his shampoo doesn't smell like a tropical island, so that's a no go.

My Abigail:
Baby... I didn't say you have to marry him. I just meant, talk! Talk about your life or something.
(T: Oh my lord, the honesty)

Kevie:
I'll try tomorrow, he's telling me to get off my phone. The light apparently is far too bright. I'll call you tomorrow. Love you

My Abigail:
I love you too.

After that, I rolled over onto Kevin's side, and fell asleep.

•••

Kevin's POV

"Okay, so, I'm home a day early." I said into my phone camera, I was videoing, because I wanted to get A's reaction when I woke her up. It was pretty late, and she had no idea I was getting home today. "Please note how impeccably clean our home is when I'm gone." I sighed, walking into the bedroom. I smiled a little, seeing my wife, curled up hugging my pillow tightly. "Bunny? Sweetie? Wake up, I'm home." I smiled, lightly shaking her shoulder.

"Hi Kev," she murmured, her eyes still closed. "I'm sorry I couldn't wait up." She moved a bit in bed, falling flat on her back, on her side.

"It's fine, Love." I chuckled a little, realizing she was still mostly asleep. I decided not to wake her. Still videoing, I climbed into bed, and pulled her warm body back over to me.

"Goodnight Kevie." She mumbled, nuzzling her head into my chest.

"Night Abigail." I sighed, running my fingers through her soft hair.

•••

The next morning, I woke up before her. I resolved that this time I'd get the cute reaction I was hoping for. I grabbed my phone and started videoing, smiling into the camera.

"Mmkay, so it's morning now, and she's asleep. Um, she's definitely in my t-shirt." I laughed a little, and gently moved her to see which one it was. "Okay, um, this is my high school AP chemistry t-shirt." I laughed more. "It says 'varsity chemistry' and has all of our last names on the back, see, here's Alvarez." I pointed to the first name on the back of the shirt.

"Cereal, lettuce, cheese." Abigail murmured.

"What, babe?" I asked, slightly amused.

"Chips, milk, apple juice." She continued.

"This is our grocery list." I realized, thinking out loud.

"Paprika!" She yelled a little, and I laughed. (T: She's not excited at all)

"Okay Love, I'll pick up paprika today, don't worry." I gently ran my hand down her hair.

"We need paprika." She whined again.

"Shh, it's okay." I chuckled lightly. I smiled a bit as I felt her gently kiss me.

"Hi Kevie." She whispered, "Kevie!" She shouted a little, pulling herself on top of me, "sweetheart you're home, you're home!" She giggled lightly, kissing my face. I smiled still videoing.

"Yeah, I'm home, babe." I laughed, kissing her. "I got home last night."

"Awe, baby you're back, I love you sweetest." She giggled more. (T: Abi, you're adorable)

"I love you too." I sighed, rubbing her back, and turned the video off, setting my phone down. "You have your Fallon interview today, right?"

"Mmhm." She sighed, getting off of me.

"Awe, sweetie, you're nervous?" I asked, sitting up in bed.

"It's Jimmy Fallon." She countered.

"Who your father has invited over for dinner on several occasions." I pointed out.

"I was nervous then too." She pointed out, "he tried to ask me about school at the dinner table, and I kinda just moved my steak around with my fork and said 'it's fine'. Baby, I was really shy."

"Well, I'll come. I'll be right offstage, you can look at me for reassurance that you are being the most adorable, sweet, and likable celebrity ever to be on the show." I smiled at her, and started to gently kiss her jaw, pulling her onto my lap.

"Celebrity?" She asked, almost ignoring my light kisses on her neck.

"Mmhm, now shh, it's been four days, I need this." I pulled her even closer to me, holding the small of her back, pressing my kisses even further down the back of her neck.

"Mmkay." She giggled, and I flipped her onto the bed, climbing on top of my wife.

•••

Abi's POV

"Uh, um, hi." I awkwardly tapped Jimmy Fallon's shoulder, once on set. Kevin standing behind me, lightly swinging my arm.

"Yes? Oh! Sweetheart!" He grinned a bit, and hugged me.

"Hi!" I giggled. "It's been so long."

"I know, awe, this little one's all grown up." He sighed. "I take it this is-"

"Oh! My husband, um, this is Kevin Alvarez, my husband." I pushed Kevin in front of me a bit.

"Nice to meet you." Jimmy smiled, and Kevin shook his hand, then looked back at me nervously. I smiled a little, and patted my husbands shoulder.

"So, um, you've been through hair and makeup, um, obviously, because you look great." He smiled, pulling away from the awkward encounter with my dork of a spouse.

"Yes." I nodded, "and thank you."

"So, um, do you want a tour, or..." he trailed off.

"No, no, we're fine." I smiled.

"Alright, well, um, Kevin, it's great to meet you, really, you landed a lovely, lovely lady here." He set his hand on my shoulder.

"Oh I know." Kevin smiled at me, then leaned over, pecking my cheek.

"So, what do you do for a living?" Jimmy asked my slightly flushed and vacillatory husband.

"Uh, oh, um, I'm, I'm a surgeon." He nodded, once he was sure his answer was both satisfactory and accurate.

"Interesting, what field?"

"Um, Cardio, Cardi- Car..."

"Cardiology." I smiled, answering for him.

"Abigail, I'm okay, I can answer myself." I heard him whisper to me.

"Obviously you can't, Love." I sighed, rubbing his arm.

•••

The two of us were sitting in my little dressing room, for the show, and we're eating almost everything in the gift basket.

"Sweetie, they covered these chocolates in salt, this is magic." Kevin said, holding a small bag of square shaped chocolates.

"Cool." I looked up briefly, then stared back at my lap, rubbing my thighs quickly.

"Hun, you okay?" He asked, setting the chocolate back in the basket.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I gave him a quick smile, then returned to staring at my lap.

"Okay, you're nervous." He announced, moving to sit by me on the couch. "Don't be nervous, Love."

"Why not?" I asked, and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"Hey, you've done this before, you've been on a talk show before, you'll be great."

"With Dad." I sighed, "about Dad, none of that was about me! I mean, yeah they talked to me, but the point was 'look at what Lin-Manuel Miranda is doing!' 'Look! Lin-Manuel Miranda adopted a screwed up kid! What an amazing guy!'" I sighed, leaning into my husbands shoulder.

"Baby..." Kevin trailed off.

"Ever since I was fifteen, all the attention I got was based on what my father did, now this is about me, and I'm scared."

"Hey, hey, it's okay." He gently kissed my head. "You deserve this. You deserve to talk about Bonnie and Clyde, to someone other then me." He added at the end of the sentence. "You are an amazing actress, you earned this.

"Mmkay." I sighed, pulled my legs onto the couch, and snuggled into him.

"There's my girl." He smiled, kissing my cheek. My phone started buzzing from my pocket, and I pulled it out. I saw a picture of my dad and I, and smiled, answering the call.

"Hi Dad." I smiled a little, standing up from the couch.

"Hey sweetheart, are you here?" He asked.

"Huh?" I was a little confused, "I'm at Jimmy Fallon, I have an interview."

"Yeah, I know, I'm here, where are you?"

"Oh! Um, I have a room?" I said, questioning what to call it.

"I think I know where, gimme a minute. I'll see you in like, two minutes, bye." He hung up, and I stuffed my phone back in my jacket pocket.

"What was that about?" Kevin asked, as I sat back down.

"My dad's here." I smiled, eating one of the salt covered chocolates.

"Oh! Cool." He smiled as well, taking a chocolate for himself.

"Peanut? Is this you?" I heard my dad knocking.

"Yeah!" I called.

"Hello my child." He smiled, coming in, with a bouquet of flowers. My mom was trailing behind him.

"Mom! Dad!" I giggled a little, standing up. I pulled them into a hug, content.

"Hi Honey." My mom smiled at me, "these are for you." She took the flowers from my dad, and handed them to me.

"Thanks." I smiled, grateful, I loved getting flowers.

"No problem, my little one." My dad kissed my head, and gently rubbed my arms. "You nervous?"

"Mmhm." I nodded.

"No she's not." Kevin cut in, coming up behind me. "She's not nervous at all, because she's a very sweet and likable person who deserves this." He spun me around to face him, "right, Bunny?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Atta girl." He pulled me into a hug. "My girl." He sighed, rubbing my back.

•••

"So, I have Abigail Miranda with me today, and now this, this is exciting! She's such a sweetheart, and I can't believe she's all grown up." He smiled, and bounced a bit in his seat.

"Hi." I smiled, and waved a bit.

"Anyways, you're in Bonnie and Clyde, which opens on Broadway... when?"

"Tomorrow actually." I smiled, "this is the last stop of my press week."

"That's amazing, amazing!" He shouted a little, "oh my gosh you're going to do such a great job."

"I sure hope so." I sighed, leaning back.

"You will, and also I was just wondering, how long have you been involved in the show?"

"Not since the very start, I actually found out about this on my wedding day." I smiled, "my husband actually told me right before our first dance." I sighed, at the memory.

"And we have footage." Jimmy cut in, and I immediately shot back to reality, my face going completely red.

"Oh, um, how?" I asked, turning around.

"Your dad texted this to me." He looked at me oddly, and I sighed, defeated.

"Mmkay, play it." I sighed.

"You never had a say in that, but alright, I'll let you consent." He said, and I saw a video of my first dance.

Kevin had pulled me really close to him, and my head rested on the front of his shoulder. Neither of us really danced, sort of just swayed, but it was the most magical moment of my life. I giggled a little, seeing my gown move around me, gently brushing the floor.

"Now, for those of you who don't know Bonnie and Clyde, that song is How 'Bout A Dance, which is from the soundtrack! It's your song now!"

"Um, yeah, I guess." I was pulled sharply out of my reminiscing to answer. "I mean, I sing it." I shrugged.

"Are you recording a cast album?" He followed up.

"Yes." I nodded, "we're working on that right now, it should be out in a few months, but all of you are going to be shocked at everyone's voices! Our whole cast just amazes me every single time we run anything."

"I'm sure." He chuckled a little, "I'm really excited actually."

The interview continued quickly, giving me the chance to talk about my cast, Bonnie Parkers poetry, and the whole experience. Eventually it ended and Kevin drove me home. We had a nice homemade dinner, before I fell asleep, prior to my opening night.

•••

I have school soon.

Mmkay...

School sucks, I have no friends, yada yada yada... same old story... anyways...
