After Biology was lunch, I don't eat lunch because the Walters don't give me money for one, or let me make one for myself. I sat with William at lunch and worked on homework. The boys around me were talking about some game that was on last night, and I was tuning them out, I really needed to focus on this. William detached himself from the conversation and turned to face me.

"When you move, are you going to be switching schools?" He asked

"Not if I have a say in it, I'll be moving within NYC, and according to the grandfather clause, even if I move into another school district, I can remain here because I started here." I responded not looking up from my homework, I know it sounds rude, but this was due for APUSH next period.

"Ok, I wanted to make sure that we're going to stay friends."

"William, can I tell you something?" I ask, setting my work aside, "the day that those 2 boys beat me up, the day that you helped me, it was because Nick told them to. The bruise was so bad because right after he and Sarah broke up, he came into my room and kicked me in the gut several times, in the same place. Nick has been abusing me ever since I moved in and now he's trying to make a move on me and I'm scared." Williams eyes widen when he realizes what I meant.

"Has he done anything serious?" William asked, his voice nervous, but steady

"No, not yet, the furthest it's gone was on the way to school today, he slapped my butt." I end the sentence with my voice getting softer, down to a whisper. I saw Williams jaw clench and anger fill his eyes. I could tell that he was angry, in fact it was kind of scaring me. "It's okay, I'll be out of there in a week tops, it'll all be okay then."

"Just promise me something, when you walk home, but headphones in, tune him out, as soon as you get home go right upstairs and don't come down until dinner, spend as much time away from him as possible until you can get out. Any other day and you could come over to my house, but Rachel and I have a date." Rachel was Williams girlfriend of 3 months and they had a big date planned for tonight.

"I promise. Thank you so much for always being there for me William." I hugged him and then the bell for 4th period rang. "I'll talk to you later! Tell my how it went with Rachel!" With that we walked our separate ways, me to APUSH and him to Algebra. I prepared myself for APUSH, it was a tough class, and I had it with Nick. I was making my way across the school, when Nick caught up to me.

"Hey babe." He said swinging his arm around my shoulder, "how has your day been?"

"Great," I replied, "but then you showed up and ruined it." I smiled to myself and continued to walk to class. We walked into our class and I headed towards the front of the room, but Nick gripped my arm and yanked my to back row, where he usually sat, I sat down next to him and took out my notebook and a pencil and waited for Ms. Cammack to get here, avoiding all eye contact with Nick.

"All right class!" Ms. Cammack exclaimed as she walked into class, today we will be reviewing the Market Revolution." She announced and I titled my notes as such, she began lecturing on the subject and I took notes, about 40 minutes into class Nick moved his hand to rest on my thigh, I immediately stiffened and glared at Nick. He left his and there for 5 minutes before he sharply squeezed my thigh making me jump a little in my seat, I was thrilled when class ended 15 minutes later, I darted up and walked to English as quick as I possibly could.

2 classes later I walked out front to be met by Nick, he walked up to me, "I'm having friends over tonight, so, keep that in mind." I put headphones in, walked home, and tuned him out.
