Chapter 40 - The Grammys (Part 3)

Once the Grammy broadcast ended the entire theater erupted in cheering, not just the audience, but the cast erupted in screams and laughter, they had all just achieved a major goal, the ran offstage cheering and obviously ecstatic. All they had to do now, was to wait for the presentation of the award, which everybody knew was going to Hamilton. Lin probably had some rap in mind which I was quite excited to hear soon.

About a half hour later the cast was pacing nervously backstage, they were gathered together waiting for the announcement, I leaned against the wall watching them in their little crowd nervously awaiting for said announcement. They had the sound of the Grammys piped through so we could all hear everything that was going on.

"I would like to apologize to everyone here for what Family Guy has said about you." He was there to announce who won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.

"Hey!" Oak stage whispered to me.

"Yeah?" I replied in the same volume.

"Come on with us!"  He smiled wildly.

"Like, onstage?!" I asked my eyes fliting quickly to the stage, "are you sure?"

"Yeah! Hurry!" I ran over to their little clump right as I heard I heard,

"And the Grammy goes to... No surprise here." You could feel everyone in he little area we were cramped into smile, they won, and they knew it. "Hamilton"

With no warning the audiences exploded both the one in the Rodgers and the one across the country in L.A. Lin ran on first, we all followed and my heart was thumping wildly, and everyone was ecstatic, and Austin was videoing. Lac held the Grammy whilst Lin unfolded a half piece of paper with some names on it. He had to shush the crowd so that he could his acceptance speech (excuse me, acceptance rap) in.

"We write music, we write songs to tell the story. Whether you're King, Kendrick or Jeanine Tesori. I'm sorry if I start screaming these thanks hysterically: John Buzzetti, Tim Latham, Tom Coyne and Derek Lee." He did scream Derek Lee somewhat hysterically. I was grinning ear to ear I couldn't believe what was happening in front of my eyes. "Tommy Kail set the stage to kick our boots through." Lin continued, "Bill Sherman, Quest, and Tariq, the whole Roots crew. Sean at Warner Chapel, Riggs and Craig at Atlantic. Lacamoire my right-hand man." He put his hand on Lac's shoulder like you would your brother, "This frantic Hispanic is non-stop. The best idea goes in the pot. Whether you're Harnick and Bock, punk, Biggie, or Pac." His tone changed slightly as he got nearer to the end of his rap, "The cast unstoppable. Band is unbeatable. Inimitable. Inevitable. Always inspiring me to pull through." You could see that he was getting emotional, as were all of us, "Vanessa, Angie, Illie, Ellie, we adore you. Sebastian, daddy's bringing home a Grammy for you." With the dedication to his son, he lifted the Grammy into the air, and Anthony held up a Puerto Rican flag in the air as well.

Everyone was crazy ecstatic, the cast, crew, and audience. "TAKE PICTURES OF IT!" Lin held the Grammy up to the audience, and everyone snapped pictures, including me. He passed the statuette off to Anthony. "TAKE PICTURES OF ANTHONY HOLDING IT!" This continued for a long period of time until we finally exited the stage, still high on adrenaline. Lin and Lac were taking a picture with the statuette, then as I was passing by the 2 of them, they stopped me.

"Hey! Do you want to get a picture with it?" Lac asked holding it out to me. I held the Grammy carefully in one hand and used my other hand to get a picture of me and an actual Grammy, I was honored. As I was getting this picture like half the cast shoved their faces into my camera and I couldn't be more grateful. I set both the Grammy and my phone down on the table while I went to get pizza, that was left over from dinner.

"I can't believe that just happened." Anthony mentioned to be as he also grabbed a piece of pizza.

"Yeah, it's crazy, but you all deserve it."

"Thanks, I never imagined I could ever make it this far, it's a dream come true. Good night Abigail!" He yawned and left the theater entirely. With that I walked back to the table where I left my phone. It wasn't there. I'm not surprised.

"Hey, which one of you took my phone?" I announced the the cast in the immediate area. Lin sulked out of a corner put my phone back on the table and snuck away, back home to Vanessa and Sebastian. I laughed a little, grabbed my phone and crawled into my bed. My lock screen was now a really fantastic picture of Lin and Lac, I wasn't planning on changing that anytime soon.
