Chapter 171 - Shots Out The Grammy

I woke up around noon, when I dragged myself into the kitchen scrolling through the extensive amount of notifications I got on Twitter and every other form of social media I possessed.

"Good morning little one." Lin said, leaning over a cup of coffee.

"Morning dad." I yawned, filling a mug with coffee, I walked back into the living room where I curled up on the couch.

@burningthefandom - @Lin_Manuel @VAMNit, oh gosh you spoil @Abi_Miranda. The little brat.

They attached a picture of me at the Tonys.

@burningthefandom - @Abi_Miranda, how much was that necklace? And the bracelets, and the anklet? And the earrings? And the dress?

I rolled my eyes a little, and decided to just watch the tweets come in.

@linmirandas - @burningthefandom @Abi_Miranda, I'm gonna look everything up, get the price.

I rolled my eyes again, and then I saw Lin reply as well.

@Lin_Manuel - @burningthefandom @Abi_Miranda, yes. @VAMNit and I do spoil our baby. I mean, I, I don't, um, she's cute.

I smiled a little, he obviously cared about me. I sucked it up, and replied.

@Abi_Miranda - burningthefandom Yep. I'm a spoiled little brat. I do not deserve what @Lin_Manuel and @VAMNit give me. I love them.

@linmirandas - Bracelet: $127, anklet: $72, earrings: $68, dress: $674. Total: $941 @Abi_Miranda, @Lin_Manuel, @VAMNit

"Mija?" I heard my dad behind me, I looked up at him, he was holding a mug of coffee.

"Mmhm?" I smiled.

"Nothing, just saying hi." He bent down and kissed my head. "Can I join you?" He asked, and I nodded. "I'm still taking everything in." He admitted sitting down next to me. "I won two Tonys last night."

"I know." I smiled, and I saw him smile back at me, looking like he could start crying any second. "Dad?" I asked, confused.

"I love you." He said, simply.

"Oh. I lo..." He cut me off.

"No. Peanut, I really do love you. I love seeing you drink out of my mugs, and curl up on my couch, and I love watching you become comfortable here, watching you become my daughter. I love you." He finished, reaching over and hugging me, "so so much."

"Dad, I..."

"And that word. I love hearing you call me dad." He gently rubbed my back, "I... I don't know why that makes me so happy, but darling it does." He lightly kissed the top of my head, "do you wanna go get pizza?" He asked.

"Mmhm." I nodded.

"Okay Peanut, go get dressed." He said, detaching from the hug. I hopped up from the couch and hurried into my room, pulling on Waitress t-shirt. As I was leaving my room my phone dinged with a notification, I picked it up and checked.

Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted:
@Lin_Manuel - @linmirandas My daughter means a lot to me. It was the Tonys. @VAMNit and I dressed her appropriately.

Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted:
@Lin_Manuel - @Abi_Miranda you deserve everything your mom and I give you. Shhhh lets go get lunch.

I smiled seeing both of those tweets, then left my room to go get lunch with my dad.

The next day Lin and I were walking into the theater, his arm around me, holding me in his usual over protective death grip. We walked through the stage door, him ushering me in before him.

"Everyone brought Tonys today." Lin announced, pulling his two out of his backpack, "can you set those on the table?" He asked, handing them to me.

"Of course." I smiled.

"Tell everyone I'll be in in a minute." He tousled my hair, and started off towards his dressing room.

"Okay." I smiled, and walked over to everyone and set down the awards with everyone else's.

"Abi!" Daveed yelled excitedly, rushing over with a carton of apple juice and his Grammy.

"Yes?" I drew the word out, confused.

"Do you wanna take a shot out of the Grammy?" He asked, holding up the apple juice, and I nodded excitedly.

Someone had filled the award with juice, and now Daveed had his phone out videoing it.

"Before we do this, we need to establish this is juice." He said putting the carton into the frame. "Non-alcoholic juice made from apples."  He laughed, then flipped the camera back around to me, holding his Grammy, he was starting a second video. "Ladies and Gentleman, Abigail Miranda's 'bout to do a shot out the Grammy!" He shouted, and I giggled then quickly drank the juice.

"WHAT DID YOU GIVE MY DAUGHTER!" Lin yelled as he pulled the award away from me. "Mija, spit it out." He ordered and I spit it all over the floor, very aware of the fact Daveed was still videoing. "Abigail. Luz. Miranda." He said angrily, and I smiled a little at my new full name.

"Dad!" I giggled, "it's juice."

"It's juice?" He asked, and a very amused Daveed Diggs handed him the carton. "Oh. Sweetheart I'm sorry." He said, looking guilty.

"Wait." Daveed said, his phone now in his pocket, "Luz?" He asked, "your mothers name?"

"Mmhm." Lin nodded, happily, "we're getting it legally changed."

"Abigail Luz." He said, "I like it. It's fitting." He nodded, "also, sorry man, it really was just juice. I would never give your daughter vodka, and I'm sure she'd never drink it either." He smiled at me, "I have to go get dressed." With that he left.

"I should probably go, I have a job." I told Lin and left as well.

I worked happily, everyone was being sweet to me. Telling me I looked cute last night, or telling me to tell Lin congrats. Eventually I was standing outside his dressing room very ready to go home.

"¡Mijita, Mijita! ¡Yo tengo una hija! ¡Mijita, Mijita, pequeña y bonita!" He sang coming out of his room, and spinning me around.

"You're excited." I noted.

"Yes I am, but I only have about twenty minutes until this wears off, so, let's go." He took my hand and rushed me outside. He signed Playbills, and books excitedly. After a while, his excitement did wear down. "Okay Niñita, we're taking the Subway." He announced and pulled me down, underground. He found two seats on the train and pulled me over to them.

"I'm gonna go to bed." I announced pulling my legs up onto the seat and snuggling into his sweater.

"Okay." He chucked a little, and wrapped an arm around me. I let my eyes close, and just breathed, smelling the familiar musky, subway scent, and I inhaled my dads scent which was mixed with traces of Vanessa's perfume. I smiled a little at the familiar calming scent, and fell asleep, the aroma reminding me of home.

I only woke up a little while later to my mothers soft, tired, voice.

"How was the, oh, she's sleeping?" She asked, and I opened my eyes, Lin was carrying me, and standing in our living room.

"I'll bring her to her room, then we can talk." My dad leaned over and kissed my moms cheek, and walked me back into my room, setting me on the bed, and pulling my blankets all the way up, over my nose. "Goodnight." He said, smiling at me. He left the room, flipping the light off, and I drifted off once again.
