"Happy belated birthday, Josie!" Stephanie said, getting me out of bed. I threw a pillow at her and whined, "Mama...it's too early for this..."

"It's 8 in the morning." Stephanie responded. I groaned and managed to get out of bed and get dressed into clothes that made me look somewhat decent. I choked Stephanie in a hug and whispered, "Thanks for giving me a birthday."

"You're welcome, baby. Now, let's go. Your birthday party awaits." Stephanie said.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSIE!" my entire family screamed. Brandon picked me up and hoisted me on his shoulders. "Double digits!"

"Yay!" I cheered. Brandon put me down and then Anthony started tickling me and I squealed. "Anthony! Stop!" I yelled in between giggles.

"Josie's laugh is so precious." Stephanie said as I was giggling on the floor. I felt someone kick my shin and looked up to see Andrew. "Hi."

"Hi? That's all I get? Just a 'hi?'" Andrew said. He scooped me up and ran around the theater with me in his arms.

"Come on, Andrew, put her down." Stephanie ordered. Andrew groaned and passed me to Stephanie. "Come on, baby, let's get you your birthday breakfast. Your friends are coming at noon."

"Okay, Mama!" I said.

"JOSEPHINE! I order you to play Twister with us!" Whizzer yelled. "I'm the one spinning the wheel."

"Should I be scared?" Brandon asked. I shook my head and then Stephanie walked out with something in her hands.

"Guess what I found?" Stephanie said. I gasped and realized she was holding a DVD.

"It's the video of baby me!" I squealed. Stephanie put the DVD in a DVD player and then a tiny redhead two-year-old showed up on the screen.

"Awwww!" Betsy squealed.

"Hi. I'm...uh...Jo-se-phine." the tiny Josie said, stumbling over her own name.

"Awwwww!" Stephanie said. "You were so cute!"

"I'm two!" Baby Josie said. She gave the camera a huge smile and then it faded out.

"Awwwww." everyone said. I smiled and then Christian came in with a huge cake.

Stephanie smiled at me and then the whole cast started singing. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Josie, happy birthday to you!" I smiled and then Anthony said, "Come on, Josie! Blow out your candles!"

I closed my eyes and thought of my birthday wish.

I wish nothing goes wrong again and I stay with Mama forever.

All my friends had left after an hour or two, and I was sitting on the stage of the Walter Kerr surrounded by open presents and wrapping paper. Including a new phone that Brandon got me. Without asking Stephanie, that is.

"Did you enjoy your birthday, sweetheart?" Betsy asked, kneeling down next to me and kissing my temple. I nodded and said, "This is the best birthday ever!"

"Awww, Josie! We're so glad." Andrew said, hugging me. He looked over at the cake and said, "Who ate it all?"

We all looked to Anthony, who had a mouthful of cake in his mouth. "Wasn't me!"

"Yeah, sure it wasn't." I said, laughing. Anthony slapped me playfully and got another slice of cake.

Then my phone rang.

"I'm gonna take this, okay? It's my friend Harper from school." I said.

I took the call, and halfway through I felt tears lining my eyes. As soon as Harper hung up, I stormed back to where my family was and threw my phone on the ground, sobbing.

"Woah, woah, Josie, are you okay?" Brandon asked, kneeling down and hugging me. "What happened?"

"WHY DOES ALL THE BAD STUFF HAPPEN TO ME?!"
