Josie's POV

"Haven't seen you at school in a while, Josie. What's up? How's life?" Whizzer asked me at lunch. I haven't seen Whizzer, Ivy, Lydia, Amethyst, or even Harper since I got hurt, and I sort of felt bad about that, given I never got to see them perform Charlie Brown.

"I may or may not have come out to my entire family and may or may not revealed I had a crush without dropping any names and they may or may not have been teasing me about it and trying to pry it out of me ever since." I said.

"Hold the phone. Josie, you came out? How did it go?" Ivy asked. I sighed and said, "Well, I didn't exactly get to come out on my own terms. I was forced out because my uncle found my Wattpad account."

"YOU HAVE A WATTPAD ACCOUNT?" Whizzer screeched. I nodded and giggled. "Well, I used to have a Wattpad account. I deleted it out of panic." Whizzer laughed and ruffled my hair. "Come on, kid. Let's go to class."

"I really want to tell Amethyst how I feel about her but I'm scared." I said. "What if I chicken out and look like an absolute fool?"

"You're not gonna look like an absolute fool, Josie. In fact...Amethyst has dropped hints about who her crush was." Lydia said. Amethyst was Lydia's cousin, so I got a lot of inside news from her.

"Who? What are the hints?" I inquired.

"Well, her crush is in Strings."

"There's a bunch of people in Strings. You're gonna have to be more specific."

"She plays cello."

"I'm not the only cello player in the world, Lydia. This is a music academy." I said.

"Amethyst described her crush as a girl who 'played the cello, was super pretty, and liked to sing.'"

"That could describe like five different people, Lydia." I said.

"Or, it could describe you." I heard someone say from behind me. I turned around and it was Amethyst, with her dirty blonde curls falling neatly on her shoulders and clutching a pale pink lunchbox in her right hand.

Amethyst made her way to our table and sits down with us, sitting right next to me. And I swear Amethyst was about to put her hand on my thigh, right then and there.

Amethyst smiled sweetly to me and then I decided to break the awkward silence. "What do you mean, that could describe me?" I questioned. As soon as those words left my mouth, I felt like a complete idiot. Of course I knew what that meant! Amethyst liked me back and I just acted like a fool in front of her!

This is exactly what I was afraid of.

"Josie, my crush was you. Ever since you came to this school, I've had a crush on you. Did you even notice the way I was staring at you the first day of music class?" Amethyst said.

No. I didn't notice the way she was staring at me. Because I was too worried about getting adopted to notice.

"I...uh...crap. I've had a crush on you too." I said. I was about to say something else before Amethyst interrupted me.

"Josie, will you date me?" Amethyst asked.

"Mama! Mama! Mama!" I said as I scrambled into Stephanie's car after school. She giggled and said, "Hi, Josie! How was school today?"

I took a deep breath and said, "I want to tell the others myself, but I have a girlfriend."

"What? Josie! Who is it? I'm so happy for you!" Stephanie said. I giggled as well and said, "Her name is Amethyst and she's my friend Lydia's younger cousin! Amethyst's been my crush since I came to that school and I just now found out she likes me back! Too bad school ends in three days."

"Awww! That's so precious! Well, we're here, you can tell the others now." Stephanie said, walking me into the theater.

"Hey, Jay!" Anthony said, hugging me as I walked in. "How was your day?"

"Good!" I said.

"Someone's excited." Christian said. "Josie, what's going on? We haven't seen you this hyper since...ever."

"Well, Mama already knows this but none of you do...I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!" I screamed.

Screams. That's it. Loud, chaotic, excited screams.

"Uh oh, Brandon's gonna go into Overprotective Father Mode." Betsy said, laughing.

"Who is this girl?" Brandon said.

"Her name is Amethyst, she's fine, she gets good grades and stuff. Hasn't committed any felonies that I know of." I said.

"Okay...but I'm keeping a close watch on that girl." Brandon said.

"We're so happy for you, Josie." Stephanie said, giving me a tight side hug and kissing my head. "We love you."

"I love my tight-knit family!" I screamed, earning "Awws" from pretty much everyone.
