!~ five ~!

"He's here to adopt you!"

Those five words had changed my life forever. In a matter of seconds, I went from an orphan to the child of an actor. Of course, that second part hadn't fully come yet. In order to actually be his kid I had to go home with him. We would have to..live together. That thought was kind of unsettling. Living with someone I just met. He seemed nice, sure, but he could always be a fake. I really didn't think that though. Even when we had first met, he showed kindness and care. No one had done that before. This had to be the real deal.

As I was lead down the creaking stairs, I started to think about what would happen. Would we have a nice house? If he was on Broadway, it had to at least be decent. Maybe he could introduce me to some cool people. I've always wanted to act, too. There's a chance he could help with that. Although, most importantly, he had to care. That's what parents were supposed to do. Right? I'm not really sure. Whenever I saw parents with their kids, they seemed pretty caring. Let's hope this would be the same. Hey, maybe I could even get a dog! I've always wanted a dog. They're so darn cute. Especially the large, fluffy ones that are incredibly lazy. Those are definitely my favorite.

It didn't take long before we were down to the exit. Christian was seated at a nearby table, scribbling away on some papers, most likely important documents to officially adopt me. Donna motioned towards the chair beside him, as if she was telling me to sit there. I nervously accepted. As I sat, he lifted up the pen. His face brightened when spotting me. Didn't get why he was so excited to see me, but okay. Guess it was pretty nice to be so appreciated.

"Marvin, hey!" He gave an enthusiastic grin as we had full eye-contact. "I- so, I wasn't planning on just suddenly adopting you. I wanted to tell you first, but my..friend, Andy, is visiting, and I thought that I'd surprise him! Also, I really wanted you out of this.." He leaned in so that his voice could fall into a whisper, "absolute shithole." He went back to sitting normally. "So, what do you say?"

"Uh.." I paused, thinking about it for a few minutes. "Please?" That's when I realized: that is definitely not what he meant. "I mean-"

Christian almost fell over laughing, having to stabilize his chair before he really did. I started giggling as well. Eventually, he fully composed himself. "It's okay, kid. You don't have to correct yourself. I get what you're trying to say. Now, are you ready to blow this Popsicle stand?"

All I did was simply nod. We both soon rose from our rather uncomfortable seats. As he lead me to his car outside, I looked back at the orphanage one last time. It really doesn't look that great from the outside. Maybe even shittier than the inside. Still, they do have to spend a lot of cash, so I'm not gonna judge their appearance. Can't say I'll miss any of it though. The place was a hellhole. Filled with kids that were corrupted by the harsh treatment of adults. Pretty edgy.

That's when we arrived at his car. It wasn't that bad. Looked better than my parents' cars. They could barely drive those things. Half of the time, the radio didn't even work! I simply resorted to listening to music from my phone instead. Not like they exactly minded. It gave us something to listen to. Still, from what I could tell, the vehicle most definitely had a radio.

It didn't take too long before we were both seated in the front seat. My first instinct, other than buckling my seatbelt, was looking at the radio. It even had a screen displaying the artist. Now that's high-tech! For some reason, instead of normal radio, he connected his phone- which is honestly amazing- and played musicals! And they were good! I hadn't exactly heard of them before. The only ones he played, though, were "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Falsettos". I thought that first one was a movie. Of course, many movies have been adapted into musicals. Books have too. Hell, this could be a musical one day. But I'm getting ahead of myself. It all still sounded really good. Some of the singing even sounded like him? No need to question it, though.

"Anything you want to, do it!" He sang. It really seemed like he was the one in the song. They sounded exactly alike. Still, I wasn't gonna ask. That'd be super weird.

Just kidding. I'm definitely asking. I absolutely adore having information. Some may consider me nosy, but I consider it intelligent. It's better to know you were wrong then not know at all. At least, that's what I believe. You can't prove me wrong, of course, because you are a simple reader. I am the one that narrates. So hah. "Are these musicals you were in?"

His face lit up. It honestly seemed to do that a lot. I can see why he got so famous, his expressions were priceless. "Oh, yeah! I didn't tell you what I acted in? I really thought I did. Sorry about that. Ever since my role as Willy, I've been more..scatterbrained than usual, I guess? I end up getting really absorbed in my character. But that's the key to acting!" He continued to sing the song after that. His voice was oddly soothing, although I believe I have already said that before. Still, it's true. I really do trust him. Even though we just met. That must sound so weird.

It seems that my poor little life was turning rather large. Would this be a good thing, or horrible? I believe I'll have to find out.

an: hey!! arent you glad we finally got to the adoption part? i mean, i sure am. ive been waiting FOREVER what do you think will happen next? feel free to comment some suggestions! thanks for reading!
