Chapter Ten
Jaylan's point of view
"Buenas días." I yawned as I stretched, walking into the kitchen. Brian smiled and returned it as I sat down at the counter.
"Sleep well?"
"Yeah, I still wanna sleep too." I laughed and he agreed as he cooked. "If it isn't too much trouble, do you think I can hang out with my friends today?"
"Yeah, go ahead." He nodded and I stood up to grab a glass from the cabinet. "No one's going to be home."
"Where are you going?"
"Well, I don't actually live here." He laughed and I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows as I opened the fridge. "I just have been staying here. I have an apartment myself, but Luke's been making me stay here."
"Oh..." I trailed off as I grabbed Luke's chocolate milk. "So you're bringing your stuff here?"
"Possibly." He nodded and I poured myself a glass before putting the milk away. "I'm paying rent for a place I'm not even staying in, so I should just move in with Luke."
"You should. I genuinely thought you lived here too." I confessed and then sat back down. "Can I ask a question?"
"Yeah sure, go ahead."
"How did you and Luke even like... start dating? Isn't there an age gap? Aren't you worried what fans and the media would think?" I asked and he laughed.
"When you're into someone, the last thing on your mind is what other people are gonna think. Our friends accept us, and we're happy together, so what others think doesn't matter too much." He answered and then looked at me. "As for the age gap... isn't not a big deal. It's not like he's underaged anymore."
I nodded and then heard someone walking downstairs. "I smell food."
"I smell you, go take a shower." Brian teased and Luke gasped as he took a seat beside me.
"I took a shower last night, don't be a dick." Luke huffed and then looked at me. "Your friend went home?"
"Yeah, she left late last night since that's when her friend was getting off work." I explained and he nodded as I took a drink of my milk. "I'm gonna hang out with my friends today, is that okay?"
"Of course." He smiled and then patted down his pockets since he was dressed. "Um... I think you're gonna need a key. Where is-"
"The spare key is in the drawer right there, babe." Brian reminded, pointing to Luke's drawer of miscellaneous things.
"You are a life saver." Luke breathed out before getting up. He opened the drawer and then reached inside, searching through it. "Is this - yeah, this is it."
He handed me a key and I took it, thanking him quietly as I noticed it had the room number on it. I set it down and then Brian set a plate in front of me. "Gracias."
"De nada." He smiled and I picked the fork up, looking at the eggs and bacon. "Babe, want some coffee?"
"Yeah, I'll take coffee. Thanks." Luke said and I laughed as Luke wrapped his arms around him.
I pulled my phone out, opening my Twitter and scrolling through it as I tried to ignore the fact they were cute and I was jealous since I'm single. It should be like a rule couples can't be overly cute when single people are around.
I retweeted a few of Arzaylea's tweets about accepting people for who they are, and then retweeted one Michael tweeted about needing more black clothes. After calling him a vampire, I went to compose a new tweet, hearing Luke sit down beside me.
"What time are you going to your friend's?" Luke asked as I looked at them. "Do you want me to drop you off?"
"No, uh it's okay. Lara's brother is gonna pick me up." I smiled softly, feeling bad for lying to him. "He can drive."
"Aren't you both fifteen?" Brian asked, setting his plate down on the counter.
"Lara's sixteen." I told him and he nodded. "They're a grade ahead, but we became friends after being stuck in the same guitar class during my freshman year."
"Alright, makes sense now." He chuckled and I quickly finished my tweet, which was really just Luke's quote of 'be whoever you want, just don't be a dick' from the other day. I posted it and then set my phone down.
"What time are you leaving?" Luke asked again and I looked at the clock on the stove.
"Uh... one I think." I told them and he nodded.
"I have to leave before noon." He told me and I nodded. "Brian, when are you headed back to your apartment?"
"Eh, dunno." He answered and I played with my food, taking small bites of it. "Maybe I'll leave at the same time as you, I need to visit Crystal today aswell."
Luke looked at me and I hummed. "You're gonna be home alone for a bit, is that alright?"
"You can trust me, I only have two friends." I promised and he nodded. "It's fine, swear. I'm fine with being here alone."
"Alright, I'm trusting you." He told me and I nodded as I took another drink of my milk as Luke started talking about his new record.
-
"So, what's up with you?" Arzaylea asked and I hummed as I sat at a table with her. "Are you like... a relative of Brian's?"
"I uh guess you can call me family yeah." I nodded as she set her purse on the table beside my small shoulder bag. "I'm uh family..."
"You live with them now?"
"I like with Luke... Brian said he hasn't moved in yet, but he might." I told her and looked at my iced coffee. "They're not home right now."
"I know. My friend is in the studio with Luke, and Crystal is posting about being with Brian and Michael." She said and chuckled.
"They took me to the studio and I nearly cried." I admitted, laughing as I picked my coffee up. "I was so embarassed."
"Some big names in there, huh?" She asked and I nodded. "Do you play anything?"
"Not really, like... I can kinda play guitar, but I'm not very good. It's more of a hobby than like something I wanna do professionally." I told her and shrugged my shoulders.
"What do you want to do then?" She asked me and I looked around, the world tinted behind my sunglasses.
"Don't know just yet." I confessed as I thought about it. "Actually, I kind of want to be a wedding planner. It seems fun."
"Yeah?"
I nodded as I rolled my eyes at myself, crossing my arms over my chest. "I love weddings. I love... love. I like seeing people being in love. It's just so sweet." I told her. "It's weird though. I'll probably end up doing some mundane thing, average job with an average life. I'll probably be single the rest of my life too."
"You live with Luke Hemmings and Brian Dales, nothing is going to be average anymore, I promise." She told me and I couldn't help but agree. "As for love, trust me, you have so much time for love."
"Everyone my age has a boyfriend or girlfriend and I'm alone." I laughed and she told me she was single too. "I should find a punk rock band kid at school and date them."
"Make sure he's not famous though, every one will hate you for like... two entire years." She rolled her eyes and I tried to keep the conversation from going south and heading back to her and Luke.
"Maybe it'll be a girl." I hummed and she nodded. "You never know. Could be anyone."
"Get it." She winked and I laughed. "My friend is gonna meet us at the mall in fifteen. Ready?"
"Yeah, uh, sure." I nodded and then picked my bag up. "Also, do you know anyone named Tess and Lindsay?"
"Yeah, they're some of my best friends, why?" She asked as I pulled my white denim jacket down.
"They followed me on my Twitter and Instagram, and I don't know who they are. I just thought you'd know, they just seem like girls you'd talk too." I told her and she nodded.
"You are correct. They're my best friends." She smiled and we left the small shop we were at. "We're about to meet Lindsay right now, if the bitch isn't drunk."
"Drunk? It's not even three in the afternoon."
"Honey," she started and looked both ways on the street before crossing. "You'll find that in LA, no one cares about that. We smoke and drink as soon as we wake up if we want."
"Well... the rich, adults do." I corrected and she shrugged.
"I mean, some teenagers do it too. Underaged drinking is a thing." She laughed and we I saw a boy that kind of looked like Lawrence.
I debated on calling his name, wondering how embarassing it'd be if it wasn't him. He told me he was busy today, so it could possibly be him. But he didn't smoke, did he?
I stared for a second and Arz nudged me. "Talk to him, stop staring." She said and I shook my head.
"He just looks familiar, that's all." I said and looked back at the boy. He had bags from Forever 21 and H&M, and I could smell the slight scent of cannabis, but I didn't know if it was him or the person beside him.
"Fuck," I sighed and Arz cheered quietly asI jogged up to him. "Lawrence?" I asked and the boy turned around.
"Who - Holy shit, Jay." He said and I took my sunglasses off. "What the hell are you doing all the way out here?"
"I'm uh with a friend." I told him and pointed to Arzaylea. "You said you were helping Lara rearrange her room."
"I didn't say when." He laughed and I rolled my eyes. "Don't tell her I was out here. She'd kick my ass."
"Are you smoking?" I asked and he shook his head. "Just your friend?"
"Yeah, he's the druggie. I'm the one he uses to get out of the house so he can smoke." He glared and his friend laughed. "Are you really hanging out with Luke's ex though?"
"I know! I feel bad but she's nice. Besides, I was going to help Luke be in a good mood so she can see Tunia tomorrow, that's why were together now, to talk about it and not get caught with texts." I told him and he nodded.
"Well, you have fun then. I'll keep your secret if you keep mine." He told me and I agreed as we shook on it.

Author's Answer:
- I kinda want to add in like... relationship drama for Jaylan but it's so cliché that I almost feel repulsed each time I think of it lmao.
