Chapter Six
Jaylan's point of view
I sighed as I brushed my hair out with my fingers, loose curls falling down to my shoulders, the result of hours of attempts to get the perfect curl. They were either too big or didn't curl right, so I'm surprised the iron didn't burn it all off. To finish my hair off, I quickly made a small bun on top of my head and then pushed my glasses on. I smiled smally and then heard a knock on my door. "Hey hey, good morning mija. Almost ready?"
"Aww, you're learning, muy bien." I told Luke and he nodded. "Yeah, almost. I uh, just need to get my bag and then put my flannel on."
"My emo days, I remember them." He said as he saw my Blink-182 shirt. "Those were the good ol' days, lots of laughter and joking... and band tees, a lot of band tees. Back when I cared about what people saw me as."
"Does that mean you stopped?" I asked and he nodded as he leaned against the door.
"Life's too damn short to care about what other people think or say about you. After all, you can't please everyone in the world." He advised and I agreed. "Anyways, breakfast is on the table. I'm driving you to school since Brian has an interview with his band in about fifteen minutes."
He turned his head and then shouted at his boyfriend. "Dales! Get that ass up! You have fifteen minutes!" He yelled and I laughed as I crossed my arms.
"Goals." I told him and he shrugged before closing the door to my room. I looked in the mirror and then adjusted my binder slightly underneath my shirt before pulling my flannel over my arms.
I ran my hands over my chest and then took a deep breath. "It's fine. They won't notice and you won't have to talk to them." I promised myself, but then reached for the strap of the tank. "But what if they notice? Maybe I shouldn't wear it."
I stood in the mirror, standing sideways to admire my flattened out chest. "They don't seem judgemental... but people aren't always as they seem. They probably hate me enough for all the dumb shit I say, I don't need this to top it off." I muttered as I rubbed my forehead with the back of my hand.
"But... But I like my flat chest." I spoke to myself as I looked down. "I'm comfortable like this. It feels great."
But do you really want to risk them finding out and hating you?
Before I could take it off, Luke was calling me downstairs, so I didn't bother taking the time to take the binder off. I reached for my backpack and then pulled it on before slipping my phone inside of my back pocket. I left the room and then walked downstairs, walking towards the kitchen as Tunia laid on Luke's lap.
"We have to leave in five minutes. Hurry up and eat." He told me and I nodded as he handed me a plate of toast and sliced bananas. "You aren't allergic to nuts, right?"
"No, I'm good." I told him and he nodded as I took a bite of my toast. "Is Brian up yet?"
"Yeah, he's getting dressed right now." He told me and laughed. "My band went on kind of a hiatus since like... 2015, so I've been free for like two whole years."
"I don't work anymore, I'm free everyday because I don't have a life." I told him and he agreed. "Who needs social lives?"
"Not me, all I do is work out, play with Tunia, and binge watch teen drama shows on Netflix." He told me and I agreed as I ate a slice of the fruit. "You probably have more friends than I do."
"I only have two... and they're twins, Lara and Lawrence." I told him and he nodded. "I hate the rest of the human population." I said, sneezing right after I spoke.
"Bless you." Luke said and I thanked him. "You don't hate me though."
"And me." Brian spoke up and he stole Luke's mug of coffee. "Morning babe, morning Jay."
"Buenos días." I smiled and he set the mug fine before grabbing his keys. "Should have woken up earlier."
"I was up late last night." He laughed and then rolled his eyes as I wiggled my eyebrows at him. "Nothing like that happened."
"Mhm."
"I'll see you later HemHem," he gave Luke a kiss and then rubbed my shoulder as he passed by. "Have a good day at school, Jaylan."
"Gracias." I said and he nodded. "¡Adiós! I yelled and he waved at us before shutting the door behind him.
"Our cue to leave aswell then. Come on little miss Jaylan." Luke told and I nodded as I stood up. He grabbed his own keys and then laughed. "It'll be right back piggy. Just wait here." He whined as Petunia scratched at his leg, whimpering at him not to leave.

"Good news?" Lawrence asked as he ate his 'healthy' baked vegetable chips. "You look... glowing."
"I mean... I guess you can say that." I smiled and Lara rose an eyebrow at me. "I'd honestly live anywhere besides that adoption center."
"Prison?" Lawrence asked me and I rolled my eyes as they laughed. "Why can I imagine you going to jail?"
"Cause you're creepy and sadistic?" Lara asked and he nodded his head as if he agreed with her.
"So, how is it over there though? They treat you good? I'm not one for violence, but if I have to..." Her brother trailed off and I laughed quietly.
"I don't know if you remember, but they're both lead singers of famous bands. If they did do something wrong, I could literally ruin their career. Besides, if they didn't intend on being good parents, why would they adopt a kid in the first place?" I asked and Lara hit her brother in the back in the head.
"It's not humanly healthy to be so fucking stupid, Rence. Use your head once in awhile." She told him and I laughed when he called her a bitch. "Callate pendejo. No one cares."
"¿Pendejo? Pinché cabrona." He muttered and his sister hit him again. "Stop that, Jesus christ. Fucking abusive."
"Oh, stop bitching, I barely hit you." She snorted and I took a drink of my water. "You hungry Jay? I haven't seen you eat lunch."
"No, I ate a lot for breakfast." I shrugged and she nodded. "How's your dad? Still pissy?"
"Lawrence had to drive because he refused to wake up. Yeah, he's still very pissy." She scoffed and I snorted. I crossed my legs as Lawrence reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. "You don't have a lock?" Lara asked and I shook my head.
"I have nothing to hide really." I told them and she scoffed at ms. "I'm pretty much an open book."
"I wish." She told me. "I have way too many photos of your new papí to not have a lock on my phone." She said and I laughed.
"Which one?" I asked and she gave me a look as if she thought I was dumb. "I have two dads now."
"Brian. He is a lil' cutie." She answered and I rolled my eyes. "They kinda scare me though. They could be brothers. Like... I'd never date someone who looks like mi hermano."
"You should, I'm a babe. He'd be a real catch." Lawrence said. "I'm freaking hot."
"Hot headed." His sister laughed out. The two began arguing and I rolled my eyes as I pushed my hair out of my face.
"Luke has a dog."
That immediately shut them up.
They looked at me and began firing questions, asking what kind of dog it was and whether it ead a boy or girl. "Wait, aren't you allergic?"
"Sí." I answered and Lawrence rose an eyebrow at me. "Petunia is the cutest thing in the world. She's a terrier and bulldog mix I think. I love her, but I'm always sneezing around her." I admitted and they began talking about the millions of dogs they have and want.
Weirdos, the both of them.

Question of the chapter:
- Are you a dog or a cat person?
Author's Answer:
- I don't mind either, but I like dogs more. (Besides Pomeranians because I had a dream one of them killed Calum Hood after he tried to leave a closet we were locked in and now they forever scare me. Tiny bodies full of fucking demonic energy, I swEAR.)
