Chapter 4
George's POV
I walked into Valerie's new bedroom, and saw her frantically packing a bag.
"Val? Are you okay?" I asked. Valerie ignored me and kept packing.
"Valerie?" I asked again. Valerie gasped and dropped the bag she was holding.
"Hi..." she said, breathing heavily. I walked over to the poor girl and hugged her. "Are you...gonna hurt me?" she asked.
"No, Valerie...I will never, ever hurt you. You have to trust me, okay Val?" I said, holding her tightly. I felt Val nod, then ruffled her hair. "Good girl. Now, tell me why you're packing. Are you afraid I'm gonna kick you out?"
"Yeah...but I'm packing for my surgery." Valerie said softly.
"I forgot. Are you nervous?" I asked. Valerie shrugged, and said, "Yeah, but I'm kind of excited!"
"I have never met a girl who's so excited about going to the hospital." I said. Valerie laughed, "It's not as scary when you've been there like 50 times."
"True. But you've seriously been to the hospital 50 times?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's not as bad when you're used to it." Valerie said.
I took a long, hard look at my foster daughter. Her strawberry blonde hair. Her bright green eyes. The IV in her elbow that led to a pump that was laying on her bed. The Be More Chill T-shirt I gave her because she barely had any clothes.
"Valerie?" I asked. Valerie looked up at me with hope and happiness twinkling in her eyes.
"Do you want to go to the mall and decorate your room before your surgery?" I asked. Valerie nodded and put down her bag.

Valerie's POV
George had shunned me to the living room after our trip to the mall. I was sitting on the couch and I could hear banging coming from my room.
"We're almost done, Valerie! Hang tight!" I heard George call, and I started playing on my phone. I looked around at all the unpacked boxes that were littered around the living room. Those were probably furniture boxes or something like that.
Suddenly, my chest got tight, and I couldn't breathe. I ran to my room and banged on the door.
"George...I need you." I cried.
"Hang on, Val, we're almost done." I heard from behind the door.
"George! My...my heart." I said, almost out of breath. I heard a bang, then George opened the door and scooped me up.
"Wait a second..." Will said, picking up my arm. "Valerie...your pump's empty. That's probably why."
"What?" I yelled, crying in George's arms. George held me tighter and started softly singing and rocking me back and forth to calm me down.
"Wait a minute. If her pump is empty, wouldn't Valerie have told us?" Gerard said. Will stared at him and said, "Wait...you're right."
"I don't want them to think you're horrible foster parents because you aren't and I love you guys and it was my fault this happened." I said with the breath I had left.
"Shh...Valerie. Listen, you aren't going to get taken away from us, I promise. We love you, and I made a promise to you. I will fight for you for the rest of your life, okay? Now, let's get you to the hospital." George said.
I remember getting loaded into an ambulance. George took my hand while the paramedics were sedating me and said, "Listen Valerie, it's gonna be okay. I love you so much."
"I-I love you too." I said.
"I'm so glad I found you, Valerie. You're my world, and more." I noticed that their was an IV in my other hand, but I barely felt the poke. I was just so used to IVs by now.
George kissed my forehead and said, "Goodnight, sweet pea. I love you." He started singing softly to me.
"I LOVE YOU!" I yelled, right before the world went black.
AN: Valerie, my love, it's time to torture you in the form of an evil chapter. And I'm sorry for ending on a cliffhanger. I'll fix it. I hope. Hope you enjoyed! Catch ya later!
