SAM POV

Everyone started looking at us and that's when I realised I yelled.

"Sam. How are you?"

"That's none of your business."

"I'm your dad." Everyone was still looking at us.

"We're making a scene here, let's go to a quiet place."

He followed me and we went to the cafeteria and sat down on the chairs.

"Why did you leave?" I asked the question I wanted answered ever since he left.

"I couldn't take it. A sick child, it was too much. Financially, Emontinally it was hard."

"Mom had to do it on her own."

"I left her some money in our account. How's she doing now?" 

"She died a couple of years ago, but that's none of your business, you left." 

"I told you Sam, it was a lot for me." 

"Don't you think it was a lot for her and to do that alone. It killed her, she didn't show it to me but it was clearly visible." 

"I'm sorry. Do you work here?"

"I do. We just shifted." 

"Kids?" 

"I'm not married yet, But I adopted twins, They're the best children anyone could ask for. They're teenagers now."

"You have a perfect life." 

"I do. You could've been a part of this if you didn't leave." 

"Can I be a part now?" 

"I would love that." 

I don't even know why I was talking to him and now I was allowing to him to be a part of my life again, to be a part of their life. What if he left and hurt all three of us?

"You have to promise to not leave, cause this time you'll be hurting not two, 3 people. One of whom you've hurt already and two teenagers." 

"I won't Sam. I regret the first time I left everyday." I nodded. 

"Dr. Radford, there was a kid in your bed, the doctors took her out and she's with security right now and she's claiming to be your daughter." A nurse said. 

"She's my daughter." I said and ran to the on call room. Dad was following me. Diana was with security and she was sobbing. 

"He's my dad please, I promise I wasn't doing anything, Leave me please." The man had a  tight grip on her wrist. 

"She's my daughter leave her right now." I yelled so that everyone would listen to me. They left her and she ran to me, hiding behind me. 

"How can you all not believe a kid, she was sleeping." 

"We're sorry Dr. Radford, we didn't know." 

"Just confirm before you do something like that. If anything like this ever happens I'll make sure you're fired"

"I'll make sure of that." Everyone left. 

"Are you okay?" I said and turned to her. She was still crying and a bruise was already forming on her wrist. 

She shook her head. 

"Can I look at your wrist?" 

"It hurts." 

"I know it does, let me just take a look?" 

"Okay, Who's that man?" 

"He's a friend." She was scared. Nick was hurt. This was not the time to introduce him.

"I'll talk to you later and I hope you get better soon." 

"Yeah." I said and he walked away. 

I took her to my office and she hopped on the table. I took my chair and rolled it to the table.

"I don't like being here." 

"I know you don't but your wrist has a really bad bruise." 

"Is it infected?" 

"It would be really hurting really bad if it was. So pain level one to ten? ten being the worst." 

"3 tops." 

"Okay, definitely not infected. I'll just clean it so it doesn't get infected." She nodded and I got the stuff I needed and put my gloves on. 

With a little bit of wincing and 'no more, dad' we were done. 

"See that's it. You're done." 

"Is Nick still asleep?" 

"I told Andrew and the nurses to page me if he did wake up so yes he's still asleep."

"Dad he'll be okay right?" 

"He'll be perfectly fine, it'll take him  a few months to walk properly again but with physical therapy he'll recover." 

"He won't die?" 

"No." 

She hopped off the table and followed me as I walked to his room. He was still asleep when we entered so we had to be quiet. Diana just sat by him on the bed by his feet. I sat on a chair by his bed. both of us not even whispering.

"Dad, when will he wake up?" Diana whispered

"He should in a while. He's on a lot of drugs to relieve the pain and they make you sleepy."

Just then, he moved. 

"Nick it's me wake up." She said. He opened his eyes and I saw Diana's eyes lighten up. 

"Do you have feeling back in your knee?" I asked him.

"Yeah and it hurts." 

"It will for a while." 

"I'm so glad you're okay Nick. I just don't know what I would do." 

"I love you Di." 

"Ah Dad, I wanted to ask you something?" 

"Go on." 

"Can you like not  press charges?" 

"Nick, you're in the hospi-" Diana interrupted me. 

"Dad please let me- Nick you're in the hospital, Victoria bothered you earlier too and now you don't wanna press charges. They could've killed you today Nick and they need to learn, the principal needs to learn a lesson." 

"I get you but- they might make our life hell in the school." 

"Just shut up. I'm sure they'll get suspended." 

"Forever?" 

"Forever." Dad replied.
