Nick pov

Me and Di were talking and when she didn't speak anymore I looked at my shoulder. She was asleep.

I gently put her head on the pillow and went outside. As we had to live here for 2 weeks I decided to roam around. It was big considering only two people lived here.

I spotted mom and dad discussing something.

Hey nick. Aaliyah says.

Hey Aaliyah. I say.

Come on here, sit. Chris says patting the middle of the couch.

I sit there.

Where is Dia? Chris asks.

She was tired, she is asleep. I said.

Well, we have no problem call us whatever you want. And your last name will be Nelson soon. Aaliyah says.

We will call you by your names. And Sam said after 14 days it's our choice of who we want to live with. I say.

Yeah, you will want to live with us. Just you see. Chris says.

Never. I say and get up.

I go into our room and sit by Diana. I woke her up.

What? She asked sleepily.

I dont want to stay even for 2 weeks. I miss him already. I say.

Nick. We have to. She says.

I don't want to. I say.

Nick please for me. She says.

With that, she convinced me I just sat on the bed with her.

We talked and just sat there.

Chris and Aaliyah came in.

What do you want to eat in dinner? Aaliyah asks.

Whatever is there. We say.

Well, I was planning to cook mac and cheese. That good? She asks.

Yep. Di says.

Soon, dinner is made. Chris calls us down. We both go down and take a seat.

So, tomorrow, we will be late. We will lock the house just sit inside. Chris said.

Dad was like rarely late. And if he was late, he left a phone at home. So we could call him if anything happened.

Okay, will you like leave a phone? Di asked.

I don't think we need to do you both are 8. Nothing will happen. Aaliyah says.

Alright. She says and we both start eating.

When we are done, we go straight up to our room. We decided to be in the same room. Not different rooms.

We change up and crash on the bed.

Next morning............

Hey Nicholas and Diana wake up. Chris said.

We both woke up.

Diana looked like she wasn't good. Like she had been crying. She rarely cried always holding on strong for me. Even if she did, she did at night when I was asleep.

We both got ready for school and Chris dropped us off.

Nick who was he? My friend, Conrad asked.

Birth dad. I say.

What happened to your dad? He asked.

Some stuff. I don't get it either, Dad said we had to leave with him for like 2 weeks. I say.

Well, I will be here, and we will have a sleepover after you come back. He says.

Yeah I will.

Diana pov

I was with my friends Nicollete, who we called Nic. Maria, Mari.

We all attended class, and then a bus dropped me and Nick home.

No one was at home. There was a note that read: House will be locked just be in your room. There are snacks in the fridge if you wanna eat something.

We both changed up and had the snacks and started doing homework. We heard some rumbling downstairs.

Nick you hear that? I ask.

Yeah. He says.

Should we like go down? I ask.

I think so. He says.

We both go down and there is a man who we don't know and has a gun in his hand.

We hide. He notices us as nick makes us a sound accidentally.

He quickly fires a bullet. I jump in front of it a pain goes through my chest and stomach and everything goes black.

Nick pov

Diana faints as she got shot. The man runs away. I run upstairs, dad gave us the phone and I call the ambulance and tell them to come here. I didn't know the location so they said they would track it and come there I also called dad.

Diana got shot. What will happen? Sorry for the late and short chapter I was busy. I am getting to write the next one right now.
