Chapter 46
Jordan's point of view
I sat on my bed, my phone in my hands and my sketchbook to the side. I scrolled through my camera roll, looking for a picture to draw for art class. I soon found a picture of Chelsea and Michael together and I smiled.
I clicked the photo and then grabbed my sketchbook. I grabbed my lightest pencil and then began drawing it. I loved the photo. They looked so happy and so in love. I was hoping I could catch even the tiniest bit of that look in my drawing.
I sketched it out softly, erasing the parts I messed up on, and fixing them. The most I got done was their heads because I heard a knock on my door and it made me stop.
I set everything aside and then opened it. "T-Taylor, what are you doing here? You should be at school." I said as I saw my best friend. "You should be with Timothy and with the other couple."
"I got suspended-"
"For what?"
"For sticking up for you, which involved kicking a guys' ass." He told me and smiled. "Besides, our houses aren't that far apart, so I thought I'd stop by." He said. He wasn't wrong, I mean, our houses were the closest ones together.
"Why would you need to stick up for me? I mean, why would you want to? I practically ruined your friendship with Timothy and you knew him long before I did." I told him and he laughed as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Turn that sad song about breakups off," he told me and I grabbed my phone. I turned it off and then looked at him. "You shouldn't be sad over him. He just doesn't understand. If he understood and allowed you to explain yourself, you'd still be together."
"Well he wants me out of his life now so that's not gonna happen any time soon." I said and he smiled sadly as he picked my bangs out of my face. "He hates me."
"He doesn't know the truth, just what he's choosing to see."
"You never answered my question, why would you stick up for me? You didn't even like me when we first met." I told he and he laughed. "Why are you laughing?"
"Because you're a fucking idiot." He said and I pouted. "You're my best friend too and I know you would never cheat on Timothy. You liked him way too much to cheat on him. I could see it. I know you wouldn't have kissed that guy. I also know I'm not dating you and that you didn't spread that rumor."
"How can you trust me so much?"
"Jordan, I know you. I'm quite observative when I'm not spitting sarcastic remarks. I know you wouldn't do anything to jeopardize your relationship with Timothy because you love him." He told me and he was right.
"Love is a strong word. I'm thirteen, I don't think it's love yet."
"But you know you don't just like him. You know damn well it is more than a simple 'like' or 'infactuation'." He told me and I nodded. He wasn't wrong but love? It couldn't be.
"We barely went on one date, I don't think so. I think it's just this really strong attraction."
"Love isn't measured by the amount of dates or time you've been together. It's what they do to you and for you. He was always there for you and he was literally the boyfriend every girl dreamed of. He was like those perfect guys in movies." He told me and I looked at him.
"Maybe you haven't realized it yet, or maybe your blind by something that's happened in the past, but you don't just 'like' Timothy." He told me and I sighed. "You get the same look in your eye when you're with Timothy that Chelsea got when she was with Michael."
"Is there a point to this Taylor?" I asked him and he laughed as he nodded. "Stop playing love doctor and cut to it." I told him.
"Point is that you love him and should go talk to his stupid ass. Explain what happened even if you have to yell it outside of his window. Don't just allow him to think wrongly of this situation." He told me and I sighed.
"Taylor, he's Timothy. He's stubborn and he doesn't change his mind when it's set on something. I won't be able to get close to him ever. Besides, maybe he's happy now that he doesn't have to worry about me." I sighed and he tilted my chin up so I could look at him.
"He's not happy Jordan. He's a mess. James texted me earlier that he won't talk and he probably didn't even shower." He said and I bit my bottom lip. "You need to get him back on track, and soon, or else our noses will fall off because of his lack of hygene."
I laughed and shook my head. "I can't. He won't return my calls and texts. He blocked me on social media, which a lot of people noticed, and I can't just go to his house, it's too far away." I said and he laughed.
"Well, you're gonna go to school tomorrow so..."
"I'm not going to create a huge scene in school Taylor, it'll embarrass him and I don't want that." I said and fixed my glasses. "He wants me out of his life so just... just let me fulfill his wish okay? It's the least I could do."
"You know it was just a spur of the moment thing Jordan-"
"No, he always means what he says. Just let me do this. If it will make him happy, so be it. His happiness has always been before mine, just because we broke up doesn't mean that hasn't changed." I told him and he sighed.
"Whatever you say."
"Want to learn how to skateboard?" I asked to change the subject and he nodded. "Grab a board." I told him as I grabbed my board. He grabbed my extra one and I smiled. "Maybe Chelsea will let us ride outside of the neighborhood."
"Ask."
-
"She actually let us." I said and he laughed. He held on to my arm as I walked slowly, allowing him to move slowly on the board aswell. We only brought one board and I let him use it since I already know how to use it.
"Well, we did beg and plead for like twenty minutes and tell her we were just gonna stay around the neighborhood." He told me as he leaned back slightly. "We're literally in town now."
"Don't lean back too much Taylor, you'll end up falling on your butt." I said and rolled my eyes. "You'll break your butt bones and that doesn't sound too fun."
"I need my butt so I won't do that." He told me and I laughed. "What are you gonna do for your birthday?" He asked me as he reminded my birthday was in a week.
"Oh um, I don't know." I said honestly. "Maybe I'll ask Chelsea if I can have some friends over and have a barbecue and such. Maybe Peter can come and um yeah." I said and he laughed.
"What do you want for you birthday?" He asked and I shrugged. "There has to be something you want for your birthday." He told me.
"Maybe for the guys to come," I said and then laughed. "But that's asking way too much from them or from anyone. They've done enough for me."
"Woman. What. Do. You. Want." He repeated and I looked at him confused. "Money? Clothes? Shoes? A new skateboard?"
"Oh, object wise." I said and he nodded as he leaned back too much. "Oh my god, Tay-" I grabbed him before he could go falling on his butt and he fell on top of me.
"It seems like you have me falling for you." He joked and I laughed as I pushed him off of me. "Thanks, I would have broke my phone if I fell." He said and I nodded.
"You're welcome." I said and he went to go after the board. He ran back towards me and then smiled innocently.
"So, what did you want for your birthday?" He asked me and I laughed. He almost breaks his phone and his butt and he only cares about what I want for my birthday.
"All I want for my birthday is for the guys to play 'Unpredictable' live because I love that song and it seems they forgot all about that song." I said and he nodded.
"You keep joking and I don't fucking know what to get you." He said and I laughed. "I'm just gonna buy you some band shirts and some bandanas. Maybe some guy sweaters so you can stop taking ours."
I looked down at the hoodie I had on and then blushed. "They smell good." I said as I grabbed his sweater and put the hood on. "They're really comfortable too." I said and he laughed as he yanked the hood down.
"Why are we friends?"
"Because you love me." I said and he sighed while nodding. "Oh look, Starbucks, you should buy me some since I didn't bring any money." I said and he nodded, telling me to go with him.
"You're a lucky bitch. I don't even buy Chris and James stuff." He said and I smiled. We walked into the store and then stood in line. Once the people in front of us left, we went up to the counter.
"Can I have a Caramel Frappuccino with extra caramel and a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino?" He asked and the lady nodded. "My name is Taylor." He said as he handed her a gift card. She told us the drinks would be ready soon and then handed the card back to him.
"I'm gonna tweet about this." I said and he looked at me. "You own own a Starbucks gift card and that you know my order." I said and he laughed. I pulled my phone out and then tweeted about then two.
"Taylor." A lady called and we stood up. We went to the counter and then I put my phone in my pocket. We thanked her as we grabbed our drinks and then we walked out of the small building.
"Okay, one, how the fuck do you misspell 'Taylor'? It's like Taylor Swift. Come on people, how dare you misspelled the queen's name?" He asked and I laughed.
"You're not Taylor Swift that's why."
"Who said I was talking about Taylor Swift? God dammit, I was just referring to her. I'm the actual queen, bow down to me." I laughed and then so did he as he adjusted the board under his arm.
"Second, where's my thank you?"
"Up my booty."
"Well, shit it out because I want my thank you." He said and I laughed. I thanked him and he nodded. "It's cool. I have like thirty dollars on this thing." He told me and I nodded.
"Guess what?" He asked and I hummed. "Don't wanna be an American Idiot!" He yelled and I laughed as people stared at us funny, as if we were on drugs.
"Don't want a nation under the new media!" I yelled along with him and he smiled. We laughed and then he saw a record shop. "Let's go in."
"I don't have the money for anything in that store though."
"Who's said we had to buy something? Let's just look." I said and he nodded. We walked in and as soon as we did, I couldn't help but let my eyes wander towards the Vynl records.
"These have always been one of my interests to be honest." I told Taylor and he hummed. "I be always wanted Vynl records and an actual Vynl player. They're so antique and so nice." I said and he laughed.
"Same, but my parents find it rather stupid when we have iTunes and DVD players now." He told me and I laughed. "They don't understand I'm a rather old school person. I like classic things; Impala cars, Vynl players and records, rock and roll, the whole shabang."
"Shabang?"
"Yes, shabang." He said and we laughed. "Oh look, he's so pretty." He told me and he grabbed a Vynl that had the guys on it. "Michael is the prettiest princess ever."
"But you exist?"
"I'm not a princess, I'm a queen, jesus christ get it right Jordan. A queen has more authority and rules until she either dies or retires." He told me.
"But that means you're old."
"Shut up Jordan, you're ruining this for me." He said and I laughed as I took a drink of my Frappuccino. "Let me have my fun."
"Okay queen Taylor."
"Thank you."
