This turned out to be the weirdest day of my life. And to think that the events of my whole life were because of this family.
One of Drake's maids cleaned me up after he left, and got me ready for dinner. I had already slept the whole day away passed out on that couch. After I was freshly groomed, cleaned, and dressed, the maid instructed me to follow her to dinner.
As we exited Drake's room we entered a large hallway, with high ceilings. There was art everywhere, and it seemed that they were all posed portraits of drake and his various family members. As we continued down the hallway we approached the end which curved to the right continuing with another hallway. We continued to walk for a few moments before we were met with a HUGE staircase that led into a large ballroom and a large, sparkling, crystal chandelier.
Dang. Their entire house was huge, inside and out.
At the bottom of the staircase we took a left into another hallway. This one was a lot wider, and the walls and ceiling were higher too. But this hallway also was filled with painted portraits. I glanced at them as we walked through, but stopped when I saw one that looked very familiar.
"Ms...are you okay?" The maid asked. "The dining hall is just at the end of this hall."
"Umm. Yes...I'm fine." I said as I inched closer to the painting.
"You can leave Mason with me, Madeline. I will take her to dinner in a moment."
I turned around to see drake standing there smiling.
"Yes sir." The maid said before disappearing down the hallway.
I turned back towards the picture. "Is.....is that...me and you...?" I asked Drake.
"Yes it is. That was made the second day you were here. It's been hung here ever since."
So I was right, This was a portrait of me and Drake when we were little.
"Why did you keep it?" I questioned, turning to look at him.
"To be honest..." I couldn't get rid of it. It has always been my last memory of you. But now I have the real thing again."
"Well, until I go home to my real family."
"Of course." Drake said.
Then the two of us continued down the hall until we reached the door to the dining hall.
As I walked through the door I was met with hugs from all sorts of strangers. Then a man who Had to have been Drake's father walked towards me and spoke.
"Hello Mason. Welcome home, to your real family."
