Plot

Weeks after returning from the Never-Realm, Zane had been having nightmare after nightmare about his actions in it as the Ice Emperor and nobody isn't angry at him about them. He believes that in order to stop the nightmares, he must return and destroy Vex.

Heart beating is heard as small glimpses of someone's past is played. Their banishment to the Never-Realm, their attempt to fix a mech only have their memories erased, manipulated and possessed to overthrow the realm's king, watching a dragon freeze a village, watching the slaughter of yetis, almost freezing a soldier solid, slamming their scepter to awaken the dragon, encountering a stranger in green who called them Zane, and watching someone mocking him for failing to protect others before preparing to kill him.

Zane immediately gasped as he sat up from his bed, blanket covering half of his body, and breathing heavily. "I had been having these nightmares for weeks now."  Zane spoke to someone. "They had been happening ever since I returned from the Never-Realm."

"And what are they about?" Wu asked as he and Zane were in the master's room, seated.

"I'm... banished there, lose my memories, overthrow a king, attack a village, slaughter beings, almost punishing the previous ruler, awakening a dragon, Lloyd calling me by my name, and watching the man who made me do those bad things try to kill him."

"You cannot change the past, but you can affect the future."

Jay and Zane spar outside the monastery. "But what if my past catches up with me?" Suddenly, Zane becomes angered before vaulting over Jay, and held his hands out to fire Ice.

"Your nightmares are the result of someone making you do those horrible things, Zane." Aspheera said as she sat in her cell while Zane glared at her. "Say, he is still alive and out there, you must... eliminate him."

Zane drops a sack of coins onto a counter and is given a tea bag. "Then I know just what to do. I have to go back and face my past."

Zane opens the tea bag outside the monastery and dust comes flying out as the other Ninja see it. "Zane!" Jay yelled.

"Don't do it!" Nya yelled. Zane just stared at them with a sad expression and then everything goes black.

Zane roams the Never-Realm, almost as if he was ever regretting his return. "We banished Vex to the farthest parts of the Never-Realm."  The Formling Leader tells Zane as he was facing him with most of the Formlings looking at their former enemy. "It was for our safety, and yours."

Zane travels across Wujira's Wrath. "How do I find him?" He asked.

"You cannot."

Sorla looks at Zane as he sat by the Hearth Fire. "The only way to redeem yourself, is by going back to your realm." She said.

"No." He replied.

Zane, with a cloak over himself as a snowstorm erupted, travels along a field before looking up to see an eagle flying down. "It was my actions that got you all in that mess, now I gotta fix it." Zane, without the cloak, fires Ice at the eagle.

"Lloyd once told me this: You're letting your anger control you." Akita told Zane.

"Anger is all I have for Vex. Anger and revenge. And I won't go back until I've destroyed him."

"Maybe so. But what would happen to you if you do finish him? Go back to what you once were?"

Vex walks along a less snowy field before stopping. "Hello, Vex." The sight of someone caused him to widen his mouth a little.
