AS HICCUP LAID ON TOOTHLESS'S BACK, HE LET OUT A FRUSTRATED SIGH AS HE LOOKED AT THE SKY ABOVE HIM, BUT INSTEAD HE WAS MET WITH A PAIR OF DARK BLUE EYES.
"Your Highness."
"Princess."
"So. . ." she said, making him sit up straight so she could sit behind him. Only he laid himself against her, his head falling on her shoulder. "We have lots to talk about."
He let out a deep sigh.
"Or, we could wait."
"N-No, you're right," Hiccup muttered. "You're always right."
As she examined his face, she could tell he had matured over the years she was gone. They were not the same eighteen-year-old kids that had fallen in love.
"No, I'm not. It's been three years—"
"Two."
"N-No, three."
Hiccup straightened up and turned his body towards her.
"For me it's been three years."
His face blanked out. She'd been waiting for three years to have a conversation with him. He examined her suit and when his eyes trailed down to her wrist, he saw the bracelet he had given her long ago.
"Look, we don't have to get married right away," she told him. "I mean, I did just get back."
"H-How?"
She shrugged her shoulders and said, "I had a little help. Now, tell me, what's bothering you?"
Alora placed her head on his shoulder wanting to receive an answer. But that was soon interrupted when Alora heard Toothless growl. In the corner of her eye, she saw someone.
"Aw, come on Dad!" Hiccup exclaimed. "Really?!"
But when the couple turned they saw a person. A figure standing on top of a dragon. They wore a turquoise painted mask and armor that Alora had never seen before. They stared at them before disappearing underneath the clouds.
"Aly. . ."
Alora slowly stood up and started flying beside Toothless.
"No sudden moves," he said.
Then, the dragon popped up in front of them causing the three to skid to a stop. The person circled them and Alora used her x-ray vision to see who was inside. It was a woman. A woman whom Alora was not familiar with. The dragon stopped and Alora felt the wind from both sides. The dragons were flapping, making the clouds surround them.
As much as she had her guard up, Alora failed to notice a Nadder coming from behind. It picked up Hiccup and he screamed. Toothless started falling and Alora flew down to pick him up. She watched as he was tumbling down towards the ice. The ice broke and the Night Fury went under. A big splash was made when Alora went under with him. Then, she carried the Night Fury out and placed it on her back. He was tired and probably didn't have the strength to fly.
But she did.
She went after Hiccup, with the Night Fury on her back. She followed the herd of dragons.
Alora was completely frightened. Toothless was weighing her down, but she continued pushing on. She used her vision to figure out where he was. But since it was dark, she had to rely on body heat. Then, when she figured out where he was, she landed beside him and placed Toothless down.
She got protective and stood in front of her boyfriend/fiancé (she wasn't sure where they stood). But Hiccup held her back. The woman stared at her through the mask and looked at her suit. She watched as she shook her long weird-looking staff causing the dragons to light their fire in their mouths. Then, she got Toothless to stand down and lay on his back.
The woman tilted her head as she extended a hand towards the medallion. She looked at Hiccup and began reaching for his face. She heard her gasp as she saw his scar. Alora held his hand, knowing he was just as lost as she was.
"Hiccup?"
The two looked at each other, before looking back at the figure. She took off her helmet and revealed herself to them.
"Uh, should I. . . Should I know you?" Hiccup asked.
"No. . . You were only a babe," she told him. "But a mother never forgets."
He gasped and Alora held him up, knowing he wanted to crumble. She looked between the two and glanced back.
"Come."
"That's your mom?!" she whispered.
"N-Now, wait just a minute!" he called out.
The Berkian and the Kryptonian followed after the woman. Toothless was right behind them as they ducked through the ice spikes. Hiccup was flustered, a stuttering mess as he chased the woman who claimed to be his mother. Alora was trailing behind, allowing him some space.
Their reunion wasn't exactly the one she'd imagined, in fact, she imagined she'd be hugging everybody and stealing kisses from her boyfriend...but instead found out that not only did she age a year older than him. And there was also the fact that they had been engaged this whole time.
Hiccup had changed. That Alora knew. But she needed to take a look at him. A good look at him, more importantly in his eyes. She wanted to see if he was still that scrawny boy she met on the Edge was still there.
What she didn't know was that in the back of his mind, Hiccup was thinking the same thing about her. Her calm attitude threw him off. He was so used to her angry, fierce tone that when she didn't attack Eret or his so-called mother it forced him to see that she was no longer that timid girl that he had found falling from the sky.
Yes the two had changed, that was normal. It'd been two/three years since they last saw each other. But the question was, does it matter to them? If they changed that is. Will their young love for each other persevere through it all?
Unfortunately they were broken out of their thoughts when she saw Hiccup struggling to climb up the stone wall.
"Where have you been all this time? Wha-What have you been doing?"
She grabbed Hiccup by the waist and flew them up, over to the top of the surface.
"They-They said you were dead! Everyone thinks you were eaten by—"
"Dragons!" Alora breathed out.
In front of them was a dragon haven. Not one, but several herds of dragons circled around the area. Alora smiled as she watched dragons of all ages, all types, flying freely. There was lush greenery and full waterfalls. It was the most beautiful sight she'd ever seen. The different colors of the dragons made it seem heaven-like. The sunlight made its way through the cracks of the ice and allowed a small patch of light to shine on Alora.
The brunette turned around and saw Hiccup talking to his mother, so she gave them some space.
Instead, she wandered close to the edge and walked off of the ledge, her flight ability allowed her to walk on the air.
But she couldn't help herself as she listened in on their conversation.
"He may as well be the last of his kind," she heard his mother say. "Oh, and look, he's your age! No wonder you get along so well."
Toothless is as old as Dad?!
Yep.
We never knew.
Honestly it made perfect sense.
. . . You just had to throw that in there, didn't you?
You knew what you were getting yourself into.
"How did you manage. . .?"
"I found him in the woods."
Alora bit her lip and smiled.
"He was shot down and wounded."
She listened as his mother explained how each dragon around her was injured.
"Did Drago or his trappers do this too?" she heard the woman ask, probably referring to his fin.
Hiccup let out an awkward chuckle.
"Well, crazy thing is. . . I'm actually the one who shot him down."
Alora giggled. She giggled.
"B-But it's okay though. He got me back. Right bud? You couldn't save all of me, could you? You just had to make it even. So, peg leg!"
A wide smile stretched across Alora's face. Hiccup looked her way and saw that her back was slouched. Meaning, her guard was down.
"You know, listening to other people's conversations is rude!" Hiccup yelled, calling her out. "And that's on any planet."
Alora pretended not to hear him.
"Who is your friend?"
A nervous laugh erupted from Hiccup.
"Uh, she's my. . . She's my girl— uh, my betr— Um. . ."
The twenty-year-old man was at a loss for words. They hadn't had the time to talk about it yet.
"My name is Alora Zor-El," she introduced herself.
"'Zor-El'," the woman repeated. "Strange name for a Berkian."
"Actually. . ." Hiccup said.
"I'm not from Berk," Alora said. "I'm from Krypton."
"Krypt-on?"
"It's a planet," Alora awkwardly said. "From outer space."
A sheepish smile formed on Hiccup's face.
"I'm Hiccup's partner."
He glanced towards her and understood what she had meant.
"And I'm hers," he added.
