YOU KNOW ALY, IF IT WASN'T FOR ME YOU WOULDN'T BE HERE RIGHT NOW.
Shut up Astrid.
Not in front of the kids!
It's ok Dad. We hear her say a lot of bad words. I don't repeat them though.
Yes you do Kara.
Shut up Hicc!
OKAY! Why don't we let your Auntie Astrid tell her side of the story?
Wait. . .really?
Yeah, why not.
Astrid couldn't believe that not only had Grimmel taken Toothless and the Light Fury, but he'd also taken her best friend. And that was one thing she simply couldn't let go past her. She watched as Hiccup paced around. She sighed and walked up to her other best friend.
"Don't say it!"
"I wasn't going to."
Astrid let him rant.
"I shouldn't have dragged her out there. He wouldn't have flown me back and she wouldn't have followed."
"Yep."
Frustrated, Hiccup threw his hands up.
"I feel like the same screwup before I met Toothless! Before I met Alora!"
"I can see that."
"Are you just gonna stand there and agree with everything I'm saying?"
"Well you're right. You're back to where you started," Astrid looked at him. "But I was the first to believe in you. And I have watched you doubt yourself ever since, but you know what. . . I am the person I am today because of you. You're the most stubborn, bravest, and determined knucklehead person I know. Toothless didn't give you that he—"
"Made it easier."
"And now it's going to be harder, so," Astrid said, "what are you gonna do about it?"
"Probably something stupid."
Astrid smiled.
An image of her best friends younger self appeared in his place.
"That's the Hiccup I know."
The two friends walked towards the group of Vikings.
They were going to bring everyone home.
meanwhile. . .
Alora woke up to find herself in a metal cage. But at this point in her life. . .she knew she'd been in weirder situations. Beside her were dragons hunching in fear. She heard voices in the distance and saw Toothless dangling.
"Fuck!"
Alora was about to punch her way through but as she stepped forward. . .the gate opened by itself.
"Wow," she said, being left speechless.
Without another thought, she flew up into the air and saw Toothless fire at Grimmel causing the platform he was on to burn.
Alora flew forward at full force and punched the ground of the wooden ship. She let out an angry yell and grabbed someone to throw. But then she saw a familiar face.
"Tuffnut?!"
"Aly!"
She placed him down and kicked the dragon hunter behind him.
"What the hell is happening?!"
"Guys! I rescued Aly!"
"Alora!"
"Hiccup?"
"Oh my gosh."
Hiccup had so many things to say.
"I'm going to fly you to Toothless!" she yelled.
"Let's get married!"
Alora gave him a bewildered look.
"Are you seriously proposing right now?"
"We have to take what we can get!"
"You're crazy!"
"Only for you!"
Blushing, Alora grabbed Hiccup by the waist and tossed him up towards the chain. Meanwhile, she stayed grounded and helped out her friends.
She used her freeze breath to knock away all of the enemies in front of the gang. She winked at Astrid.
"Hey beautiful, you come here often?"
"You scared the shit out of me! What were you thinking?!"
"Well I wasn't going to let Toothless's wife die!"
"Go take your crazy ass over there and release the dragons, okay?!"
Alora gave her a two finger salute and left without another word. Using her strength she busted open as many cages as she could. Soon Gobber, Valka, and Eret joined in on the fun.
"Now it's a party!" Alora yelled, busting open two more cages.
She watched as Astrid purposely crashed the ship into another, so Alora made it her duty to go through the other ships. She busted open all the other dragons before using her heat vision to cut them in half.
"YEAH!" she heard Snotlout yell.
"I LOVE KRYPTONIANS!" Gobber yelled, which caused the young woman to laugh.
"GO AFTER HICCUP!" Astrid yelled.
Alora nodded her head and as the blonde heard a sonic boom in the distance she knew everything was going to be okay.
ᚹ
Hiccup was falling from the sky. Grimmel was clutching onto his leg. A sigh of relief left his lips as he watched the Light Fury save his unconscious friend from doom. But after he left his sight, all he could hear was the wind blowing past his hair. Then, he heard a high pitch sound. Toothless had been hit with a dart, so it couldn't have been him. That sound belonged to. . .
A pair of arms slid under his legs and back. He looked up and saw a pair of blue eyes staring down at him.
"I got you," she told him.
Alora grabbed Grimmel by the collar and the three watched as another sound emerged. The Light Fury came and swooped in to save Hiccup, but hesitated when she saw Alora.
Those blue eyes. Now she knew what they reminded her of.
Kara Danvers.
Alora tossed Hiccup towards her and the Light Fury didn't hesitate to grab him by the claws.
Alora stopped and held Grimmel away from her.
Mom?
Yes.
Why'd you stop?
. . . No reason.
Alora looked him in the eyes and let go of him, letting him plummet down towards the ocean. Then, she caught up with the Light Fury. The creature stared at her as a one-legged Hiccup was hovering over Toothless.
"Thank you," Alora told her.
The Light Fury slightly bowed her head to her.
Suddenly a whole herd of dragons headed their way. All their friends gathered around and Alora went to Hiccup, to help him stand up. They watched as the Light Fury and Toothless interacted with each other. Then, the Night Fury stopped to look at the couple before staring out into the beautiful sight of the white clouds in front of them.
Alora let go of Hiccup as he hopped his way towards Toothless.
"You're right bud. It's time."
Alora felt her eyes get watery.
"I was so busy fighting for a world that I wanted and. . . I didn't think about what you needed. You've looked after us long enough. It's time to look after yourselves."
Alora looked around and saw her friends look longingly at their dragons. Her eyes wandered to Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf, and Belch. She watched Astrid be the first to take off Stormfly's saddle.
Alora bit her trembling lip.
Everyone started taking off their saddles and Alora walked up to the dragons she used to tell bedtime stories to. Alora said her goodbyes before retreating back to her place. She'd be lying if she said she didn't shed a few tears when she placed her hand on them for one last time.
"Go on bud," she heard Hiccup say. "Lead them to the Hidden World. You'll be safe there. Safer than you could ever be with me."
Toothless nudged forward to get closer to him.
"It's okay. I love you too. And I want you to be free."
Hiccup hopped back from him.
"Our world doesn't deserve you. . .yet."
Suddenly, Toothless jumped up and stood on his hind legs. He hugged Hiccup as if he was human. Then, their foreheads touched. Alora knew how hard this was for both of them. They'd been together since they were ten. They'd grown up beside each other. And now, they were going on their separate ways.
"Go Toothless," Hiccup said, letting his tears fall.
Toothless closed his eyes as Hiccup started to slowly retract his hand from the Night Fury.
Hiccup smiled and nodded his head.
Toothless let out a pained growl and suddenly all the dragons started to fly off. The Light Fury was the first to go. But Toothless was the last one.
Alora held Hiccup and she looked at the Night Fury, giving him a look that she hoped said he would be okay. The big pair of green eyes left them and took off without another glance back. But when she turned, she saw a small pair of green eyes filled with pain.
"It's okay," she said, hugging her best friend. "He'll be okay."
"I know," Hiccup said, getting choked up.
