waiting on a miracle

It was always going to come to this wasn't it? Standing at the edge of a very tall building, with no one around to see the heartbreak, Izuku asked himself. There truly were no more options were there? Heaven knows he tried, he tried so, so hard. It was never enough was it? He was never enough was he?
That diagnosis was a death sentence. There was nothing to do but fulfill it, was there? He would be missed, he knew that. But, he knew how much strain he put on his mother for simply existing. After dad left, she had to work overtime. He knew she didn't have many friends, and it was his fault. No one wanted to be friends with the failure's mom. She cared too much for her own good. He cared too much for his own good. Really, how long was he going to last with an unattainable dream and nothing good to show for it?
A mental image, not a memory (even though it felt like it), floated through his head. All Might and Bakugo's faces were overlapping, twisting, becoming something on their own. Almost melodically, the amalgamation of Izuku's idols spoke to him.
"I'm everything you always wanted to be. Let's settle the issue, you wish you were me." His hopes and dreams led him to the edge. "Your nothing without me. Without mE YOUR NOTHING AT ALL!"
The need to cry was so great, but Izuku didn't dare let a tear fall. Crying would lead to a change of heart, and he couldn't afford to have one.
So, he stepped over, shoes off his feet and a note in his backpack, to feel the wind whip through his hair and have the feeling of death caress his burnt skin.
He fell.

The small earthquake was a surprise, but not fully alarming. To Tsukauchi, it could be a number of insignificant things, but the immediate increase in emails and calls he got after had him thinking it was a bad omen instead.
The first calls were about the earthquake itself and the source of the shaking. A massive building on the edge of the red light district had crashed to the ground. It was unexpected, and they suspected foul play. There was a crater and giant claw marks in the road. No one was hurt, but there were witnesses.
----
"Could you describe what you saw?" Tsukauchi asked.
"Well, I was heading across the intersection towards the corner-store for cat food when, from the corner of my eye, I swear I saw something fall from the building. The next thing I know, there was a shockwave, and the building falls with a giant smoke creature at the foot of it." The lady said. (Truth)
"Can you describe the creature?" Tsukauchi pressed.
"It was hard to make much of anything, like it was constantly shifting. It was big and black. The moment it appeared, it felt like all the air in the area was sucked away, suffocating. It looked like it was getting smaller as it walked away. I don't think it saw me." She replied. (Truth)
"Thank you ma'am. I'll let you be on your way now." Tsukauchi said. He turned to one of the other officers on scene. "Are there any cameras nearby?"
"Only two." The officer said. "There doesn't seem to be any casualties or injuries, but those who are investigating the scene found a backpack and shoes. It's unclear if they are relevant to the case or not."
"Take them in as evidence. They might be important."
The officer nodded and walked away to converse with other officers. Tsukauchi sighed. It was going to be a long day.
----
His day got longer when the footage for the case was sent to his email. There was nothing. Seconds before impact, the cameras shorted out and only came back online after the carnage was done. Something big happened here, and they have no leads until everything on the scene is processed.
Shortly after this revelation was dumped on him, Tsukauchi turned on the news, only to be hit with another unexplained event.
----
Middle-school Massacre
Hello, my name is -----, and I am coming to you live from outside Aldera public middle school. Shortly after 4:45 this afternoon, the school was hit with an unidentified attack that left at least two teachers dead and many more injured. Police are unsure who or what attacked the school, nor the motive for doing so. The injuries sustained did not align with any known gun or knife, and were done in an animalistic manner.
We ask that you send your well wishes to the surviving teachers and faculty in these trying times.
Any tips should be called in through this number: ××××-×××-×××

While Tsukauchi and his team were setting up a board with everything they had on the two cases deemed connected, he got another call. This time it was from the front desk.
When he entered the lobby of the police station, he was met with a distraught woman.
"P-please, you have to f-find my son! His school was at-tacked earlier today and he hasn't come h-home." A lady with green hair pleaded, gripping his shirt.
"Absolutely! What is your name, ma'am?" Tsukauchi said, concerned. If this woman says what he thought she was going to say, then they were all in for a bad night.
"M-midoriya Inko, s-sir. P-please..."
Tsukauchi's stomach sank to the floor.
----
The yellow backpack and shoes told a very detailed story.
The ratty exterior of both told of money troubles and well use. The shoes were a model known for being for people who had mutations or were quirkless. The contents of the backpack told more. The extensively damaged notebook told of a boy who wanted to be a hero, and of bullies who thought otherwise. The first aid kit told of a kid who knew how to treat his own injuries. The binder full of classwork told of a very smart kid who cared about doing well in school despite being graded against it.
That last part was put in as evidence for the case.
The last object of importance was a letter. It wasn't a happy letter. Knowing the contents, Tsukauchi told Midoriya to sit down before offering it to her.
As Midoriya read the letter, tears started rolling down her face till she was sobbing into her hands. Tsukauchi offered a handkerchief and asked her if she wanted a moment to herself. She nodded.
----
Dear whoever reads this letter,
Please give this to Midoriya Inko.
Hi. This might be a shock. Just know it wasn't your fault. You were the reason I stayed around for so long, honestly. In all likelihood, I am gone now. I've been leaving for a while. School hasn't been great since I got my diagnosis, and it's only been getting worse. I couldn't take it anymore.
Thanks for believing in me, even though my dreams were stupid. I never would have achieved them. I even got a second opinion on that recently. There was no point in staying in a world where only one person wants me for myself. There is only a 5% chance of a quirkless person obtaining a job if they get that point. The odds were so low its not even funny.
I love you, but you were the only one who loved me.
Goodbye mom,
Izuku

First chapter!
I know it's a bit rushed, but I will hopefully flush it out more as I write.
In my opinion, All Might contains a high level of dangerous stupidity. He has good intentions, but his ways of execution are sloppy and careless. I mean, leaving a person on a roof after crushing years dreams? Stupid and ignorant.
