HappyReading!
~~~AISHA's POV~~~
A muffled cry woke me up and I let out a soft yawn. Someone tapped on my shoulder and I blinked, turning to my left.
"He is crying," Atif whispered in his sleepy voice as I turned over to look at my alarm clock. 3:15 AM.
Getting out of the warm bed, I walked to Rishab's room, that was just next door. He was standing against the bars of his new cot. He tied even louder when he saw me and stretched his arms out, as if asking me to pick him up.
"Aww Rishab kyu ro raha hai, hmm?" I asked as I approached him. I got my answer when I held him in my arms and felt something wet.
"Babu ne chi chi kar di?" I chuckled, asking him in a baby voice as I kept him down and pulled his pyjamas off.
I took him inside the attached bathroom and gave him a quick shower. Wrapping a towel around him, I took him outside but, there was no dry spot on his cot where I could put him down.
"Oh ho, ab hum kya karenge? Hum mumma room jayenge," I talked to Rishab as I collected a fresh pair of night suit for him and exited his room.
Atif was already sleeping when I entered my own room and I smiled at him. Sotey hue kitna acha lagta hai- pichley kuch dino main his frowns have been scaring me more than anything else in this world. I went around and kept Rishab down on the bed before changing his clothes. I decided to warm up some milk for him so, I tucked him under the warm covers and got up to leave.
"No shararat ok?" I said to Rishab and he giggled, "I'll be back very soon, hmm."
"It's fajr time," Atif mumbled as he parted his eyelids and I nodded. "Yeah I'll get him some milk and then I'll join you."
"Whatever," he replied curtly and I sighed, shaking me head. "At least you can make sure that he doesn't roll off the bed?" I asked, really hoping for him to agree.
I ran a hand through my hair when I received no reply from Atif and approached him. "Atif?" I called him name, keeping my hand on his shoulder. But, He abruptly got up and left for the washroom.
Stop acting like kids Atif. Please.
~~~ATIF's POV~~~
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Why do I have to be so rude to Aisha? To Rishab? It's not his fault that his family is no more. I am just dreading the day when he will mean the world to Aisha and she will mean nothing to him. I know for sure that he will leave us one day. Why would he want to live with his parents' killer's friends? Well, Waqas didn't exactly kill them but, his driver did. We understand this but, I am sure that Rishab won't.
Aisha isn't stupid but, she is too innocent for this. Rishab is giving her the opportunity to be a mother and she is falling victim to it. I can't be that silly; I can't love this boy and then get hurt at the end. I want to stay practical and strong; I want to be there when Aisha will need me once Rishab will leave us.... Her.
Getting out of the washroom, I pulled out my prayer mat. I heard some shuffling behind me and I turned around to see Rishab rolling. He rolled to the edge and my heart almost missed the beat. Thank Goodness, he stopped and rolled to the centre of the bed again. I sighed and grabbed the cushions from the couch. Placing them firmly around Rishab, I turned to my prayer mat again. I had almost sat down when I sighed and stood up.
"Chal beta," I groaned as I went over to the bed and picked him up, "tu gira aur Aisha ne dekh liya toh jaan le le gi meri."
I made him sit beside me while I offered my prayers. When I opened my eyes again, he was starring at me with his huge brown pearls. He giggled when I frowned at him and that made me raise my eyebrow at him.
"Bari hansi aa rahi hai," I asked him as he stood up, stepping towards me. I moved back and got up from the floor. Folding my mat, I kept it in its place and turned around only to find two arms wrapping around me.
"Chor," I said awkwardly as I tried to free myself from Rishab's grip.
"Godi," he cried, clutching on to my sweatpants and I huffed. "Kya museebat hai," I groaned as I picked him up again.
He smiled at me, showing off his tiny teeth. I couldn't help but, pull his cheek. My fingers left a red mark on his cheek which disappeared with in a few seconds. I looked down at my fingers and smiled. He is so soft. A hand touched my stubble and I looked up again. Rishab rubbed his hand against my cheek, giggling.
"And look mama is-" Aisha's cheer startled me and I looked at the bedroom's door. She stood by the door, surprised; more like shocked, "arrey wah! Rishab daddy ke-"
"Sambhalo isse," I cut her off as I passed Rishab to her. He irritated me all of a sudden. She quickly took him, frowning at me and without wasting a second, I slid back in the bed.
"You don't have to be so mean! Bacha hai woh, Atif!" She yelled before I heard the door Banging behind me.
~~~PREET's POV~~~
"Hussain make sure you put a lock on your bag," I told him for the hundredth time and he just nodded. "Hmm."
He went around the bed and sat down with his phone in his hand. I sighed as I picked up a lock and its keys to lock Hussain's bag. Our flight is in three hours and this guy is busy playing games on his phone.
"Hussain can you please take the bags downstairs?" I asked once all three of our suitcases were ready. "Hmm," he replied.
"Main khud hi le jaati hoon," I rolled my eyes and received the same reply from him. "Hmm."
I narrowed my eyes at him. Picking a pillow from the bed, I threw it at him. "Oww!" He howled when it smacked his head, "my high score yaar!"
I laughed as the bird on the screen crashed into a pillar. Hussain looked down at it then back at me. I bit my lips when he scowled at me. Before I had a chance to suppress my laugh, Hussain got up and marched towards me.
"Bari hansi aa rahi hai?" He asked, annoyed and I nodded. "Yup!"
"Ugh!" He groaned, rolling his eyes and it only lead me to laugh more. He took a step towards me and my laugh died on my lips as I looked up to meet his soft gaze.
"Guys ready?" Shehry's unexpected voice snapped us out of our eye lock and I stepped away. Hussain turned to the door as Shehry entered our room.
"Oh disturb toh nahi kiya na?" He asked innocently but, I could see the smirk on his face. So freaking clearly.
"Nope," I said quickly and picked up my handbag, "Shehry please help Hussain?"
Shehry nodded and grabbed two suitcases, leaving one for Hussain. While Shehry chose to walk in front of us, Hussain grabbed my wrist.
"Tumhein toh main baad main dekhta hoon," he whispered near my ear and I nodded. "I will be waiting."
"Pree-" Shehry turned around, forcing Hussain and I to step away again. "Oh sorry!" He said quickly and turned around. I looked up at Hussain and found him smirking at me. I shook my head and walked faster to catch up with Shehry.
"Don't walk fast!" Hussain yelled behind me and I rolled my eyes. He has finally started getting into researching about pregnancy.
"What happened?" I asked Shehry.
"Uh nothing," he shrugged and I sighed. "You know you can't lie."
He looked up at me and smiled. "I was just umm.. Did Asmaara tell you what time she will be reaching?" He asked with a frown on his face, "her phone is switched off and she is not here yet."
"No," I told him, "I tried calling her earlier but, she didn't answer the call."
"Aww impatient much!" Hussain joined us again and almost pulled Shehry's cheek, "Bhabhi ji Ka wait ho raha hai?"
"Dafa ho," Shehry rolled his eyes and walked away.
"Kyun pareshaan karte ho usse?" I scolded Hussain when Shehry started walking down the staircase.
Hussain laughed and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "hamein kitna pareshan kiya tha isne hamari shaadi se pehle. Ab badla lena toh banta hai naw."
"Grow up, Hussain," I shook my head, remembering those days, and he stopped walking. "Che feet lamba khamba ho gaya hoon. Aur kitna grow up?"
I stopped and closed my eyes, trying to hold back my chuckled. He needs to work on his humour a little more.
"Aa gayi hansi bas aa gayi," I heard him say and I opened my eyes. He stood just inches away from me, bent to my height. The light in his eyes forced me to let that chuckle escape from my lips.
"That's my girl!" Hussain announced proudly as he straightened his body and wrapped his arm around me again.
"Ab chalein?" I asked him and he nodded. "Chalo."
We reached the bottom of the stairs and Hussain squeezed my shoulder. Everyone was waiting for us in the lounge and I felt like I was going to leave them all over again. Walking over to my father, I hugged him as tightly as I could. He chuckled and caressed my hair. For a moment I felt like I wanted to stay here for another month or so. We pulled away and I went over to hug Tai Ji. She smiled at me with tears eyes before kissing my forehead.
"Hamesha khush raho and do take good care of yourself and the little one," she said and I smiled, shyly.
"Don't worry about that! I'll be at her service twenty four/ Seven," Hussain said from behind me and Tai Ji raised her eyebrows at me. "Haan, tujhe kaise bhool sakti hoon?" She stepped forward and pinched Hussain's cheek.
Hussain smiled sheepishly and rubbed his cheek. I couldn't help but laugh, knowing how much he hates it when someone pulled his cheeks.
"Come on, you are getting late!" Daljit announced and we bid our goodbyes to everyone. Nihaal and Muskan gave me quick hugs but, Hussain was the one they didn't want to let go off. Itni achi bonding ho gayi dono ki Hussain ke saath; it's going to be so hard for Kashish and Mehek bhabhi to handle these two after we leave.
"Shehry chal," Gurmeet called out and I looked over at Shehry. He was taking his own sweet time since Asmaara was still not here.
Where is this girl?
~~~SHEHRY's POV~~~
I sighed as I glanced at my phone. I dialled Asmaara's number again yet, no one answered. It went straight to her answering machine like always. It was probably my twentieth call to her.
"Oye Shehry chal, they just announced your flight," Gurmeet called out. He stood by Preet, with his arm around her.
"Yeah," I nodded, looking down at my phone and then at the main door. I hope you are coming.
Hussain, Preet, Zara, Adeel and I went ahead to the business class desk while the other crew members headed towards the economy line. One by one everyone got their bags checked in and started moving towards the staircase that lead them to the check in area. I was the last one to register my bags as I was taking my sweet time to wait for her.
"Ab mahurat nikal wayein kya? Chal," Daljit said to me and I quietly followed. Everyone chit chatted in their small groups while I had no interest whatsoever.
Suddenly a bell rang and the automatic voice began announcing the flights on the loud speaker. I shook my head when our flight number came up and looked over at the others. They started to move towards the check in gate, that would lead us to the terminal, and disappeared around the corner.
"Let's go?" Hussain asked me and I shook my head, looking back at the staircase.
"Tu chal main aata hoon," I told him and he smirked at me but, before he had a chance to say something, Preet interrupted.
"Shehry come soon. We still have about fifteen minutes," She said, tugging on to Hussain's jacket, "and you better come with me. Stop annoying him."
"Yeah yeah," Hussain rolled his eyes, "dono team bana ke mujhe hi corner karo."
Preet and I smiled at each other before she brought her handbag forward. She pouted and Hussain groaned as he took it from her.
"Joru ka ghulaam," I sneered at him and he scowled at me. "Votti hai meri, bag Uthana toh banta hai," he boasted instead and I rolled my eyes. Preet almost pulled his cheek when he jumped back. I laughed and he shook his head.
"Chal jaldi aayeen," Adeel patted my shoulder and I smiled. Bas ek baar woh aa jaye.
"Hum bhi chalte hein," Daljit said and side hugged me. "Bye, take care," I bid my goodbyes to Daljit and Gurmeet before they disappeared down the hall.
Kahaan reh gayi yeh larki?
~~~ASMAARA's POV~~~
Bright sun penetrated through my eyelids, causing me to turn to the other side. My fingers gripped around something hard and I realised it was my phone. A smile made its way to my lips when yesterday's memory came flooding in my mind. Shehry and I chatted for hours after he left. There was so much that we didn't know about each other and there was so much that was common between us. We stayed on the phone until it was time to pray fajr and even after that, I guess, I was the one to fall asleep first.
Yawning, I pushed my quilt away and got out of the bed. I tried turning my phone on but, the battery was completely drained so, I plugged in the charger and thats when my eyes fell on my alarm clock.
Eleven thirty!? No this can't be happening! I am damn late. The flight must be leaving in one and a half hour so Shehry must be checking in.... Now? Oh crap!
I picked up my towel and a fresh pair of jeans and orange kurti. After a quick shower, I ran outside with the mini jar, that I had bought, in my hand. I had to give it to him today, whatsoever. Picking up my car keys, I waved goodbye to Faiza who was asking me to stop for lunch. It didn't take me long to pull the car out of the drive way and soon I was on the motorway for a half an hour long journey.
It felt like the traffic was moving slower than usual and that really got on my nerves. After forty minutes I was finally at the parking lot of the Airport. I paid for my ticket and the barriers moved automatically. Parking my car, I went over to the baggage area. The desk for Air NZ to Houston was empty so, I ran off toward the check in gate. That's the last point where I will be able to see him.
I decided to give him a call and reached for my cell phone. It wasn't in my pocket and I mentally smacked myself for leaving it on my desk. Calling from the phone booth wasn't an option either since I wasn't carrying my wallet right now and the car was too far for me to run back.
"Oh god! Sab kuch aaj hi hona hai kya?" I panted, stopping by the stairs.
The automatic speaker roared to life, asking for the Air NZ passengers to reach the terminal 2. That meant I still had a chance to find him. I ran upstairs without looking and bumped into someone.
"Easy girl!" I heard a familiar chuckle and looked up to see Gurmeet grinning at me and I smiled. "Gurmeet! Shehry kahaan hai?" I asked and that made him raise an eyebrow at me.
There was an annoying smirk on his face so, I quickly added, "and Preet? She is still there right?"
"Yeah they were going in, see if you can find them," he said and I ran, leaving him there.
I stopped in my tracks when my eyes fell on him. Shehry was tapping something on his phone and his eyes were on his watch. He pressed the phone against his ear and then pulled it away, groaning. Is he trying to call me? Yes he is!
I took a deep breath when I saw him moving towards the check in gate and yelled his name.
~~~SHEHRY's POV~~~
"Shehry!" I heard my name being called just when I was about to walk towards the check in gate. I stopped in my tracks and smiled before turning around.
"I thought I missed you," Asmaara panted, almost jogging towards me. She looked exhausted and a complete mess. A Cute mess though.
"Yeah you are late," I told her once she was in front of me. I took a step closer and smiled at her.
"I am sorry," she sighed, holding my right hand. I intwined our fingers and squeezed her hand gently when she pouted, "better late than never."
We stood there, staring at each other until that bell rang again, announcing the final call for Air NZ passengers. The automatic voice went away and I sighed.
"I guess-"
I began but, I didn't get a chance to complete my sentence as Asmaara leaped forward, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Promise me you will talk to your parents about me as soon as possible," she asked and I nodded, with my chin on her shoulder.
"Promise me you will call me daily and you will come back as soon as possible and you will miss me and..." She said in one breath before pulling away, "I'll miss you and I will be waiting and I.. I love you."
I smiled at her, speechless. Never thought someone would wait for me while I am gone for my shooting trips. I felt quite happy right now; the feeling of being loved and missed in this way was new to me. And it felt great!
"Miss me already?" I asked all of a sudden and she looked away.
"Yeah," she replied lowly and I stepped closer to kiss her forehead. My hands cupped her cheek as I let my lips stay there for a few seconds. She raised her one hand to hold my wrist but, the other one was hiding behind her back. She was hiding something?
"What is it?" I frowned at her as I reached out for her hand that she was hiding. "Uhm nothing," she insisted, moving away from me.
Despite her protest, I gripped her arm and brought her hand forward, only to find her holding on to a mini jar.
"Is that for me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow, as I tried pulling it out of her grip. She finally loosened her fingers and rolled her eyes.
"First it felt like the cutest thing ever but, it feels kinda cheesy now," she nervously defended herself as I read the words engraved on it in brown.
~So many riesens why I love you~
"Cheesy? This is--" I looked up at her and stopped, mentally smirking, "it's damn cheesy you know?"
"Yeah, let me chuck it in the bin," She shrugged, trying to take the jar from me but, I pulled it away in time. "But, Only if you can't tell me those reasons," I finished my sentence."
"What?" She looked up at me in confusion and wrapped my arm around her, jerking her towards me. "I'd like to hear those reasons from you very soon."
She nodded, smiling, "one day."
"Night," I corrected her and held her tighter, "our wedding night."
She blushed, nodding, and lowered her eyes. I sighed dramatically, "this is why I L--"
"Shehry what are you doing? It's the last call," my very own kabab main haddi, AKA mera bhai, interrupted our little moment and I groaned.
Asmaara pushed me a littler but, I chose to hold her tighter, knowing very well that Hussain was watching us and she was embarrassed. "Tu chal main aya," I told him, looking at the angel in front of me.
"Sure have fun," he chuckled and Asmaara narrowed her eyes at me. "Choro," she whispered and I smirked, shaking my head.
"Bye bhabhi ji!" He called again and Asmaara's eye went wide. I chuckled at her expression as she managed to chock out a reply, "b-bye Hu-Hussain."
"Come fast," Hussain said to me and went inside again.
"I have to go for now," I said, turning to Asmaara again. "I'll be waiting," she said as I leaned closer to give her another kiss on her forehead. We hugged before she pulled away.
"Jao," she said and I could see tears forming in her eyes. I walked backwards, towards the check in gate but, before I could go inside, she turned away from me.
My heart sank seeing her back towards me and I stopped to do the craziest yet, the best thing ever.
"Asmaara khan!" I yelled out her name and a lot of people stopped moving around us. They looked at me like I was an idiot but, I didn't mind.
I waited for her to turn around and when she did, I finished my sentence,
"I love you! More than anyone else can; more than you can imagine. I love you very very much!"
~~~ASMAARA's POV~~~
"I have to go for now," Shehry said and the sudden fear of losing his warm touch engulfed me.
"I'll be waiting," I replied as calmly as I could but, the truth was that I didn't want him to leave. I was missing him already. Abhi toh kitni baatien karni baki theen.
Shehry's soft lips on my forehead made my heart skip a beat. I gulped the lump in my throat as he hugged me, tightly, like even he didn't want to let go. I was missing his touch already. My eyes stung at the realisation that he won't be around for another month or so and my heart felt heavy. But, I couldn't just cry in front of him because this one month is quite important for him. He needs to wrap up the whole project and create the master piece for an amazing new year release.
We pulled away and I blinked the moisture in my eyes. "Jao," I managed to say and he silently began walking backwards.
I felt worse, realising that he still hasn't said those words to me. I wanted to stop him and hear them from him before he leaves but, he was already running late. Next time, I told myself and turned away to hide my tears.
Just when I thought that he must be gone, I heard my name being called, "Asmaara Khan." I recognised the voice; it was Shehry's.
I blinked a couple of times and when my vision felt clear, I turned around to find him smiling at me. Suddenly, I felt all eyes were on me and my cheeks' temperature shots up. Like they weren't flushed already after how Shehry acted in front of Hussain.
"I love you!" He said all of a sudden and my insides exploded. I couldn't believe what I just heard; he finally said it. My heart swelled with happiness when his words reached my ears. He took a step forward and continued, "More than anyone else can; more than you can imagine. I love you very very much!"
No one has ever loved me this much; not even my family. This feeling is out of this world and hard to describe. I hope it stays like this.
Forever.
