vi. Her Noble Words

Sero and [L/n] spent many hours studying that night, and he even wanted to help her design her hero costume. It wasn't complicated like others, such as Todoroki's where you'd have to take bodily and Quirk temperature in mind. All she needed was her hands, so the requirements were pretty basic.

Based on the fact her hero name was Marionette, the two decided that it'd be best that the design have a marionette theme to it, to go along with her name.

However, when the two finally put pencil to paper, their brains gave out.

"I'm so tired!" Sero whined, faceplanting the girls desk.

"Well, with the internships still not starting for another week, I don't really need to have the costume design done by tomorrow morning." [L/n] spoke, watching as Sero's body seemed to loosen with relief. "You should go on home, you look exhausted." She laughed softly.

"You ever decide where you're gonna go?" The boy asked, turning his head sideways so he could look at her as they talked, though he didn't remove his head from her desk.

"I'm thinking about Best Jeanist." [L/n] answered honestly, smiling at her friend who was obviously exhausted.

"You know that's most likely where Bakugou's gonna go, right?" Sero commented, watching as the girl let out a somewhat nervous laugh.

"Yeah, but Jeanist is one of the best, and people put a lot of faith in him. That's the kind of hero I want to be, the kind where when people stand behind me, they feel safe. And that's how I feel Best Jeanist is." As the girl spoke those words, her eyes had softened, as had her voice.

Sero was speechless, the adoring and admirable look in his friends eyes left him awestruck, and the sunset that was beaming through her window made her glow. I'm in deep, aren't I?

"I don't care about being the best or Number One like Bakugou, Midoriya, and others. As long as people feel safe around me, that's all I wish for."

"Wow..." Sero spoke in awe. "That's extremely admirable, and yet not too ambitious."

"Ranking doesn't always mean everything, ya know?" She replied with a smile before stretching her arms above her head. "It's about how much the people trust you, I may be a bit goofy and clumsy, but I hope that my cheery attitude and hard work will gain the trust of citizens. Ah, sorry, I went on a bit of a ramble there, didn't I?" [L/n] laughed nervously at the end.

"Oh no, don't apologize!" Sero grinned, removing his head from the girls desk, sitting up straight and placing both of his hands on her shoulders. "What you said was just so... So... Noble!" It took him a moment to think of a proper word.

"Ah, thanks." [L/n] smiled, Sero's heart melting at the purity of the girls smile. "Anyways, you should head home now, Tape Despenser— or Soy Sauce, as Bakugou would say." The girl laughed.

"Yeah, it's gotten pretty late, hasn't it?" He admitted, his hands still not leaving her shoulders.

"Thanks for helping me study, Sero, I'm really behind compared to everyone else so I have a lot of catching up to do, so you've been a big help." She grinned happily.

"Anytime!" Sero stood up, finally removing his hands from the girls shoulders and stretched. "See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah!"

And with that, Sero left and made his own way home, leaving the girl to change and go to sleep.

The next day, as [L/n] made her way to school, she bumped into an unsuspecting classmate. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" She apologized.

"No, no! No need to apologize! I was bent down tying my shoe, you probably didn't see me!" The boy defended, standing up and turning around to face the person whose voice he deemed familiar.

The boy was Eijirou Kirishima.

The two students stared at each other with red faces before averting their eyes.

From a distance, the group of Sero, Ashido, and Kaminari could be seen, staring at the two awkward teenagers. "I can't be the only one who's noticed that the two of them haven't looked each other in the eyes since our little Bakutower." Ashido commented.

"Oi, Extras, the hell you staring at!?" Bakugou barked as he had come up behind the group, causing the trio to jump in surprise. "Why are you staring at Spiky Hair and Paralysis?" As the words left Bakugou's mouth, he took notice of the slight red spread across both of their cheeks and how they couldn't look one another in the eyes, yet neither moved either.

"Well uh," [L/n] began, running her fingers through her hair, "We should get going, who knows what Sensei will do if we're late."

"Oh, you're right, and tardiness isn't very manly!" The redhead grinned, pumping his fists together as his gaze stayed averted.

The girl smiled and the two began walking, though they walked in silence.

"They're acting like awkward ex's." Bakugou stated flatly, he and the stalking trio walking alongside him.

"I don't think Kiribabe and [L/n] ever dated. We all went to Junior High together though, but we weren't in the same classes." Ashido answered, Sero looking at his friend curiously.

"Wait, but when you all saw each other at the Sports Festival, you acted like you didn't recognize each other." Kaminari commented.

"Oh, so you can think Dunce Face, I'm impressed." Bakugou rudely complimented.

"Aww, how sweet Kacchan!" Kaminari cooed.

"Don't call me that!" He barked back.

"Anyways, it's because we were never in the same class. She was kinda like Todoroki back in her Junior High days." Ashido informed, Sero and Kaminari letting out a laugh.

"That bubbly, hyper, eccentric, ball of sunshine used to be like Todoroki?" Sero was shocked.

"Only in the sense that she was super mysterious!" Ashido grinned, seemingly recalling things from her Junior High days. "Her name always involved rumors, if you heard the name [L/n], it was always tied to her being scary, strong, yet funny and bright. She never once used her Quirk at school, though, so no one even knew what her Quirk was, we just knew it was strong. I didn't even recognize it was her until I was thinking about it last night, and I don't think Kiribabe's realized it yet." Ashido answered.

"If they never dated or anything like that, then why are they both so red and awkward around each other?" Kaminari asked, looping an arm over Sero and Ashido's shoulders, Bakugou walking in front of them.

"I'd say they like each other, but they've barely had any conversation. And to top it off, it's obvious Serobabe likes her, and Kiribabe would never do anything like that, knowing a friend likes her already." Ashido commented.

The group stopped as they noticed Kirishima and [L/n] stopped in their tracks before turning and actually looking each other in the eyes. In perfect and absolute synchronization, the two spoke,

"Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Your name seemed really familiar when they brought it up at the Sports Festival, as well as your personality." Kirishima admitted.

"Your Quirk seemed familiar too, but you don't look like anyone I used to know." The girl also admitted.

"Well, back in Junior High I had black hair, I dyed my hair when I started here at UA." Kirishima explained.

"Oh! You're that Kirishima, then! We went to Junior High together! We were just never in the same classes, that's all!" [L/n] beamed brightly.

"So you're the [L/n] who just never used her Quirk at school, yet still managed to have a big reputation because of it! You always sounded so womanly! Even though people were scared of you, they thought you were so nice and funny!" Kirishima, too, beamed brightly.

The two grinned brightly at one another and fist bumped.

"Even if it was unintentional, having my first kiss with someone so womanly is a worthy one indeed." The boy smiled with a slight red on his cheeks, still embarrassed from what happened.

"Yeah, and I suppose having mine accidentally taken from someone so manly is a worthy one too." The girl too, smiled with a faint red across her cheeks.

Kaminari, Ashido, and Sero all choked, while Bakugou just grinned. "Hah? So Shitty Hair and Paralysis kissed? What're the odds of that?"

"How do you accidentally kiss?" Sero questioned, hiding the hint of sadness in his voice.

"Wait, remember when we made that tower in class? Bakubabe, didn't you push down on Kiribabe to get up?" Ashido brought up, the incident now clicking in everyone's heads.

"So you're saying I pushed Spiky Hair's face into Paralysis' face? Makes sense." Bakugou stated, laughing inwardly at what he caused.

"Nothing to worry about, bro." Kaminari whispered into Sero's ear, wrapping his arm around his friend tighter to give him extra assurance.

Kirishima and [L/n] turned away from each other and continued walking, as did the four people who were a bit behind them.

"It really does explain why they were acting so awkward once we all got up." Sero joked, now finding the whole situation funny considering just how accidental it really was.

"Can you believe it, Bakugou? You're the reason they both had their first kiss, and entirely on accident!" Kaminari laughed, earning a punch in the forehead from the aggressive ash blonde.

"Soo, Sero, how did your study session go last night?~" Kaminari asked with a tease.

"Aw c'mon Denki, we just studied. She's really smart, so once she caught on to certain things, she actually helped me to understand certain things better." Sero answered with an honest smile, the group of four now walking the halls of UA, making their way to their homeroom.

"But, I gotta say," Sero paused, Ashido and Kaminari looking at him curiously. While Bakugou wouldn't show it, he was listening too. "She said something that really made me smile. [L/n] said that ranking doesn't always mean everything, ya know? It's about how much the people trust you, I may be a bit goofy and clumsy, but I hope that my cheery attitude and hard work will gain the trust of citizens." Sero quoted.

"Wow." Kaminari and Ashido replied in unison.

"Yeah, I know right?" Sero responded.

Before any other words were spoken, the bell rang, and all the students rushed inside their classrooms. Once inside the classrooms, classmates watched as [L/n] went up to their Sensei's desk for a moment.

"Aizawa Sensei, I couldn't figure out my hero costume last night, but I'll have it done by the end of the week." She informed nicely, the teacher nodding.

"Get it done as soon as possible so the team has enough time to make it properly and add any adjustments to the design that they deem fit." Aizawa stated, the girl nodding before taking her own seat.

The day went on as normal, classes were a mix of fun and boring, and then it came to their final class of the day.

"Alright, I'm sure most of you have already figured out where you want to go for your internships. That being said, pass up your papers and I'll write down where everyone is going, that way you'll also know if you'll be with someone else." Aizawa spoke, watching as his students all passed up their chosen Agency to go to.

As he began writing everyone's names and their Agency's on the board, he paused once he got to two of them, "Kirishima, Tetsutetsu from Class 1-B has chosen the same Agency as you, and Yaoyorozu, the same goes for you and Kendo from Class 1-B." He continued writing everyone and their Agency's until he got to the last two.

Oh god no.

"Bakugou, [L/n], you'll both be with Best Jeanist."

The silence in the room became so thick you could cut it with a knife, until Bakugou spoke up, that is.

"Hah!? Paralysis and I!? Together for a week!?" Bakugou barked, slamming his palms on his desk and turning to face [L/n].

"I look forward to training under Best Jeanist with you, Bakugou!" She smiled brightly.

"Tch, I'll be better than you at everything we do." He glared.

"Fine with me, my goal isn't to be better than you, it's just to better myself."

"Kacchan and [L/n] are such polar opposites that it's actually kinda scary." Midoriya whispered to Uraraka, who nodded firmly in agreement.

The tension was odd as the sheer smile the girl gave conflicted heavily with the narrow eyes and angry face the boy returned.

"Well, Bakugou, let's do our best to become better heroes!" As the girl left her seat and smiled, she extended her hand towards the aggressive ash blonde.

Reluctantly, Bakugou took her hand. "Tch."
