I wake up feeling tired and groggy, still exhausted from yesterday's conversation with Xavier, which I spent practically all night thinking about. What a control freak he is. I shower and dress for school within a few minutes and go downstairs to get myself some breakfast. My parents, as usual, have left for work, but I notice a newspaper on the table, and to my surprise, it's the same newspaper that interviewed Xavier yesterday.

I have just prepared a slice of toast with a lightly boiled egg, when I hear a sound from my bag. I open my bag and find the iPhone still sitting there. When I check the iPhone, I see that I have a message.

Xavier: The car is outside.

I look out the window and, true to his words, a black car is outside waiting for me.

Seriously, what is it with billionaires and black cars?

I grab the newspaper, and make my way out of the house and into the backseat of the car.

"Good morning", I politely greet the man at the front of the wheel.

"Good morning", he replies. "My name is Eric and I'll be your driver".

Eric starts the car and I open up the newspaper, and flip to the 'top ten bachelors' section.

The top bachelor of the week is Xavier Reyes, who is rated as one of the richest (and most handsome) men in the city. With his intense green eyes and sizeable bank account, he is the ideal female dream. Mr Reyes is a man who enjoys romantic picnics, and daffodils. His ideal woman is a gorgeous blonde, so to all the blondes out there, here's your chance to have a shot at the man. Mr Reyes is not 'interested in dating' at the moment, but we do know that he has a very interesting romance life. Of course, nothing less is expected from this sexy bachelor. More on the famous Mr Reyes can be found on his Wikipedia page. That's all on the top bachelor for the week.

I am so lost in the article that I don't notice when we arrive at my school, until Eric clears his throat. I look up suddenly, and hurry out of the car.

"I'll be here to pick you up and take you to Mr Reyes office", Eric says as I get out of the car.

I nod as he drives away.

School was basically uneventful, and in a few hours, I am at the parking lot, where Eric is dutifully waiting. I am just about to enter his car when Jordan suddenly drives into the lot, steps out of his car and walks up to me.

"Hey Candy", he said. "Let's get going 'kay"

Oh right, I couldn't tell Jordan about Xavier's decision because my parents had confiscated my phone.

"About that Jordan, Mr Reyes assigned a driver for me.", I say awkwardly.

"Why would he do that?", Jordan asks, looking puzzled.

I don't want Jordan to know that Xavier knows about my parents because that could just end up being messy and I prefer to avoid fights, so I just shrug, pretending that I don't know why Xavier assigned me a driver. Technically, I am not lying.

Jordan looks at Eric and his car suspiciously. "How do I know that this creep won't run off and kidnap you?", he questions.

Honestly I hadn't considered that.

"Xavier would probably send out a search team to find me", I say reassuringly.

Jordan shrugs. "So long as you feel safe", he says, ruffling my hair.

I am about to mention Linda to him, but he's already making his way towards his car, and I feel like I have kept Eric waiting for long enough.

I'll do it later.

The drive to Xavier's office is quiet and uneventful, but once I get into my office, I am in for a chock. Sitting on my desk, with a newspaper in his hands, is Xavier, his face impassive.

"Miss Greene, you're finally here", he says, putting emphasis on the 'finally'.

"Yes Mr Reyes, I'm here", I reply sassily.

He looks up at me for a short while before saying, "Have you read this article yet?", he asks, and I nod my head.

"Use your words Miss Greene.", he says sharply.

I glare at him before replying to his initial question.

"I think this article is interesting, considering that you wrote it yourself.", he gets off the table and walks towards me. "Do you consider me a 'sexy bachelor', as you wrote in this piece?"

I gulp, suddenly. He is now standing directly in front of me and I can smell his masculine perfume.

"I am waiting for an answer Miss Greene", he said, a bit arrogantly.

"s-some of the th-things that I wrote were edited so..." I stammer.

"Yes I know that", he said offhandly. "However, I want to know if you find me attractive."

I don't know what to say, so I stay quiet.

"Say something", he orders. "Are my intense green eyes disturbing you?"

He is now so close that I can feel his warm breath on my cheek.

"Mr Reyes, I am afraid that you are giving me mixed signals", I say as calmly as I can manage. "You tell me to stay away from you, yet you want to know if I find you attractive. What should I think?"

Xavier pauses to consider this. "Well you are right, I guess. However, the last thing we needed was for you to fall in love with me. After all, I don't date so there would be no chance of me ever dating you."

His words hurt me deeply, and I try to hold in my tears.

"If you don't see the point of dating me, then why are you here in my office", I yell. "Why do you keep on giving me signals that maybe, just maybe you feel the same way I do. Are my feelings just some sick joke to you?"

Xavier looks stunned at my outburst. "You have feelings for me?", he asks, in almost a whisper.

Is that seriously all he heard from what I said.

"Candy, you can't have feelings for me. Nothing is going to come out of it."

"You mean that you would never date someone like me right? I'm not like your high class blondes, I'm just a silly seventeen-year-old with a stupid crush.", I am ranting now, saying nonsense that I know I will regret later.'

"Candy, that's not what I mean", Xavier says.

"Then what do you mean?", I ask angrily.

"I'm messed up and I will break your heart. Nothing good will come out of me, and I don't want to be the one to break you and taint your innocence."

"Xavier, I am old enough to decide for myself", I cut him off. "If you don't want me then say so and walk out of this office, but don't push me away because you are doing the 'greater good' for both of us."

I wait for Xavier to laugh in my face and walk out the door, telling me that he would never want me, but to my surprise, nothing happens, and maybe that's why I have the courage to do what I do next.

I close the distance between us, and kiss Xavier on the lips, and to my shock, he kisses me back, gently at first, then more urgently, until we pull apart from each other panting and smiling.

"Candy I- "

"Xavier, I want this, I really do. Don't push me away. Please".

Xavier smiles at me, and brushes an errant strand of hair out of my face. I think he is going to kiss me again, but at that moment, his phone buzzes, and he brings it out to check the message, and he instantly frowns.

He looks at me. "This is important darling, I have to go".

"Sure", I say, trying not to grin at the fact that he called me darling.

Xavier looks at me and smiles, planting a kiss on my forehead, before stepping out of my office.

I sigh contentedly, and sit at my desk with a stupid smile on my face, and I am almost unaware of Linda, bursting into my office.

"Well, well that was quite the intense moment", she says smirking, and startling me.

"Were you listening the whole time?", I ask mortified.

"Well maybe a little", she winks, and I blush as red as a tomato and she bursts out laughing.

"For what it's worth, I think you two are cute together.", she smiles, and I groan.

"Thanks Linda", I say. "Now, if you're done embarrassing me, I have some work to do".

She laughs and (thankfully) she steps out of my office.

I try to get some work done, but I am giddy with excitement, and I can't concentrate, so I get out my iPhone and call Jordan. He answers after a few rings.

"Hello? Who is this?", he asks.

"Hey Jordan, its Candy."

"Girl, when did you get a new number? Did your parents buy you a new phone or something?"

I laugh. "No, I'm using the phone that Mr. Reyes bought me. Anyway, I have some news for you..."

When I am done telling Xavier everything that happened in the office he cheers.

"Man, that was awesome, your life is almost as dramatic as an episode of 'keeping up with the Kardashians.'"

I giggle a bit then sober up, remembering that I have important business to handle.

"What happened between you and Linda?", I ask.

Jordan sighs. "Do we have to talk about that now?", he asks

"Yes", I say sternly. "Dude you messed up. Linda was right for you and you cheated on her and..."

"I know all that but Brett was..."

"Hold up", I interrupt him. "You cheated on a goddess like Linda with your slimy good for nothing ex?", I ask him, practically screaming.

"You don't understand Candy.", Jordan said desperately. "Brett was sweet and convincing and he told me that he had changed and somehow we just ended up..."

Unfortunately, I understand. Brett might be a slimy little liar, but he is also a gorgeous guy and he can be very seductive when he wants to be.

"So what are you going to do now?", I ask.

"I don't love Brett anymore. Things were different between us that night, and when I saw Linda's hurt face, I knew what I had to do. I'm going to apologize to her."

"When?", I ask.

"Tomorrow. I think it will be perfect."

I smile as we both say good bye and hang up. Romance can be stressful, but it's awesome too.

I was so happy that nothing could dampen it, not even my parents yelling later in in the evening. I went to sleep with a light heart, and dreamt of a handsome green eyed dark haired man who had possessed my heart
