°36° Day 31

Odin and I decided to call my day at the job short, let me take a shower and rest for the remainder of the day. He said he didn't know much about it, but that rest always helped the other girls.

Since that one stupid rule of someone needing to be nearby all the time still applied, Eros had offered to check up on me every hour, until Noa eventually found out I was in bed.

Eros had been so kind to me, he carefully explained all the supplies they had gotten in the crates, which ones were reusable or which ones were low on supply. They weren't certain if new supplies would arrive.

He made sure my hot water bottle was warm, occasionally came in with some snacks and chatted.

We had so many good conversations, honestly, I had never heard him talk this much before. He told me all about his job and how much he enjoyed it, even though it meant people got hurt. Oh and don't even get me started about all the good rumours I heard about Cosmo.

Noa found out about my situation when he didn't see me at dinner. He also didn't see me at lunch, but since Odin also wasn't around, he thought we were still busy.

He had been sweet to me too, even though I had tried to throw my pillow at him multiple times. He had showered me with kisses while all I did was terrify him with all the details menstruation had to offer as he admitted he didn't know a lot.

Noa had insisted on walking me to the next workshop after asking me several times if I was sure I wanted to go.

'Are you sure, love?' He asked me one last time as we arrived at the workshop. 'I am.' He takes my hands as he softly swings our arms around. 'Well good luck, everyone dreads this one.'
'Can't be worse than the woods,' I joke.

He releases my hands putting his hand to his sides.

'I guess I'll just uh go then,' he says looking at his surroundings. He didn't seem to be extremely comfortable standing in front of this specific workplace.

I shake my head as I laugh. I pull him down by his jacket as I reach for his cheek to place a quick kiss on it.

'Want to join me at the lake, during lunch?' I ask. 'Oh, you bet.'

He leaves me behind at the closed door as he makes his way to his job.

I knock on the door, marking my presence before opening the door and stepping inside the wooden hut. I immediately get hit by a putrid smell, making me stop in my tracks.

I look at my surroundings, seeing animal skins and parts hanging from a clothing line. Welcome to the butcher's place.. I guess.

'Ah Grace nice to finally spend some time with you, I've heard so much about you,' Spitzer says as soon as he spots me in his workplace. 'Oh yeah?' I ask.
'Yes Tiros had a lot to say about you,' he snorts.

He hands me a waist apron, that's still slightly stained with brown spots, marking what once was fresh blood. I don't give myself a lot of time to think about what made them as my mind wanders towards a new subject.

Tiros.

He had been attacked 5 days ago and I didn't get a lot of details on his current state.

'How is he?' I ask. 'In a coma, they don't know if he will make it, he's looking pretty bad,' he sighs, 'I know he will never say it, so thank you for at least trying to save him.' 'Yeah, no big deal,' I shrug.

He laughs as he starts gathering extra supplies I could use.

'I don't think I would have saved someone who talks so badly about me,' he admits.
'Is it that bad?' I joke.

I never understood why Tiros seemed to dislike me, but he's not the only one.

'I think he's jealous of you girly.'
'Jealous why?' I ask. Why would he be jealous of me? All I've done so far was disturb the peace if all he should be mad at me for that.

'Didn't your Noa tell you?' 'No?'
'Ask him about it,' he suggests.

Does Noa have to do something with one of the butchers disliking me?

'Come no more distractions, I'm not good at explaining, so just do what feels right,' he explains as he leads me towards a table with a dead rabbit on top and multiple tools to the side which I could use. The tools were all slightly stained.

Uh right, where do I start?

I imagine I'm back in the woods again. What would I do when I had managed to capture a rabbit? What would I try to eat, what would I discard?

With those thoughts in my mind, I focus on the tasks at hand and get to work, using the tools. I prepared the bunny and tried to save its hide as there were hides drying all over the workplace.

When I finish, I turn over to Spitzer and call for him to check out my work. He carefully inspects my work and pats me on my back shortly.

'Not bad girly,' he states with a small smile, 'not bad at all.'

Maybe this job isn't so bad after all..
