°06° Day 6
When I finally wake up again my fingers immediately reach for my neck only to feel something soft covering the spot I went crazy at.
I let my hand down again and open my eyes, not expecting to see much at all, but my vision is blurry, like I'm looking through a really dirty and scratched up window instead of only seeing blobs of light and vague colours like I used to.
Not believing my eyes I look around. I'm scared that my vision will fade away again, so I start taking it all in. The walls and the floor of the room were a brown, but I'm not able to see if it's a wood, clay or a stone. I look down to see myself laying inside a black rectangular object, the sleeping bag. At the end of the black rectangle there's some sort of box, which probably contains my clothes.
There's a bright light coming out of a white square, the window. Telling me it's day and I should probably get up. Carefully I start to get out of the sleeping bag and sit up before standing up. My legs feel like pudding, but they're strong enough to carry my body weight. I make my way to the box and open it up, to indeed find clothes inside. I scatter through and manage to find some brown pants that feel loose fit and a white top. It feels weird to pick my clothes without Noa helping me, but I also feel a lot freer than the past few days.
I make my way to the rectangle with light shining through the top and bottom and open the door making my way down the stairs and outside. I take a moment to take in all the colours I see when I look around. It's overwhelming me to finally see something again. I let my feet lead me to where I thought the eating area was, in hopes I hadn't missed out on breakfast yet.
My stomach is rumbling when I reach the area covered in what looks to be picnic tables to me. Sadly there's no one there, which means breakfast hours are probably already over. I make my way over to the small building, which if I remember correctly, should be the kitchen.
I knock on the door, and I almost immediately get a response back. 'Yes?' a quiet voice asks behind it. 'Hey, it's Grace, I wan..' I start, but before I can finish the door gets opened for me. 'He-llo, come in.'
'Thank you, it's Swot, right?' I ask as I follow the boy inside.
'Yes, do yo..' 'Grace! How ya doing!' Spot interrupts him.
'I'm.. okay, just a bit hungry.'
'Doesn't sound like something we can't fix for ya, sit down, I'll get ya something!' he shouts while running off.
'Is he always this excited when people are late for breakfast?' I ask Swot who's left behind with me while I sit down on a chair. 'No, he usually gets mad,' he takes a small break, 'can you see?' he continues. 'Better than before, I actually see colours now, it's all a bit blurry and vague, but I can make out shapes,' I answer.
The boy takes a few steps back as Spot comes rushing back with a plate. 'Here ya go! Made by yours truly, enjoy!' he shouts excitedly. Someone definitely woke up better than I did. I thank him for the food, even though I have no idea what he put in front of me. I pick it up and it feels like it's just a sandwich, which is fine obviously. A simple sandwich tastes amazing on an empty stomach.
'Hey Grace, you're more than welcome to stay here all day, but maybe I should lead ya to Noa. Bet he's still worried about ya. The poor boy barely managed to get a bite to eat when you were asleep.'
'Uh yeah, if you know where he's at, I have something to ask him,' I respond. 'Come let's go, bet he's moping around the new project.'
Following the blob of colours in front of me I get led to an open place where the sound of hammers hitting against pieces of wood sounds like someone could burst out into a song.
'Yo Noa got someone for ya!' He shouts before leaving me behind.
The rhythm of the hammers pause abruptly as a blob appears from the project they're working on.
'Oh, Grace I'm so happy to see you,' he says as soon as he notices it's me that was dropped off. 'Yeah, Spot was very vocal about it,' I joke back. 'Oh right, well that's Spot. I uh.. can I give you a hug?' He asks. I nod and feel the boy pull me into a small embrace. 'I thought we killed you,' he whispers, 'you were asleep for 2 to 3 days I was so scared,' he admits. 'I'm not that easy to get rid of,' I joke. He pulls away from the embrace as he places a hand on my back. 'Come I need to show, or well tell, you something.'
We walk back to the med shack where Eros meets us this time.
'Look at you walking around again, great to see you're doing alright.' 'Everyone is making it sound like I was on the verge of death, I was just catching up on some sleep!' I giggle in response.
'Can you give her what we found?' Noa asks. 'Be right back.'
'Did I they give me something for my eyes?' I ask as soon as Eros got out. 'No why?' 'I can see, sort off,' I explain. 'Oh right, so the clothes weren't a lucky guess?'
'Nope and I can finally sort of see with who I'm sharing a room,' I laugh, 'Didn't realise he was such a softie.' 'Shut it.'
When Eros gets back I get handed a small circular tube that was found in my neck. I hoped I would remember something about it, but my mind felt blank.
