12| Violation of the Command
The water was a cooler temperature now, and Sumara knew the show he had put on was going good. His job in threatening them was successful, all he needed now was a final blow to end this millions of years of hard work that he had invested to finally reach this day.
But he didn't want to provoke him too much, for the major tremors were still remaining and he wanted to be alive for that long... to deliver it.
He narrowed his eyes, put the same irritating smirk on his face and began again,
"We knew we could never harness the power of Adversus Materia, for no magic was powerful enough, not even you. So we took some from the matter, from the creation."
Even though Cyrus wasn't able to understand it fully, he knew Sumara had tampered with something he wasn't supposed to. He could feel the fear taking birth on the dermis of his body, fighting its way in his mind.
He wanted to have faith in Sumara, even though something felt off.
But he still contained his doubts for he didn't want to interrupt him before he finished his entire oration, for he had been beating around the bush for so long. He again diverted his mind back the to voice vibrating in the waters.
"The Aurum had found out that they couldn't harness power from the sun or any other star, not even the black holes, any attempt to get power from them, and you would know of our dare to pluck up your courage.
So we were looking something untouched by you, something in its pure form but still powerful enough, and we didn't have to look much farther."
Artemis's mind was wild with anxiety, Sumara had already played with Adversus Materia what was next thing on his list?
"What do you mean?" His voice was more worried than angry.
"I meant the body part of the Terra itself, but still not attached to it, it's soil turning to white rock, with no capacity to hold life, the body worshipped by the the Pre Terran life and shall be after us, The Mjesec(the moon pronounced as maesec) the only body in the universe which reflects all the power of other bodies. It's white soil so barren, but so capable, so powerful. We knew you'd never harnessed the magic of the moon because it's too weak for you, also it's indirect, it doesn't have its own energy but takes it from the sun. It infact reflects all the energy from the universe, and that very faint energy when harnessed, became very powerful."
Artemis closed his eyes but couldn't see it, so his pressed his mind hard, his eyes turning white, as if without pupils, in this process. There it was, the moon which once was radiant, gleamed with white light, bathing it's soil in the energy of the universe, indeed was dark, and it's soil grey now. The elves had taken all the magic from it and somehow used it to hide this deed from him.
"You fool, you touched the forbidden power, we didn't harness it, not because it was weak but because it's
forbidden, because if you would it would make you......"
"Yes! we came to know about that very soon. The Mages felt their bodies being broken down as if it were iron and a very strong magnet was trying to pull them from every direction possible on Terra. They used the energy to benefit Idril but it took a toll on their bodies, and they died a very painful death, with their bones becoming powder and blood solider than stone. We lost our 21 most powerful, but we gained Idril, the strongest of them all."
"You disturbed the forbidden realms, you disturbed the balance of energy by depriving moon of its borrowed power when it could create none for itself. You disturbed the balance of magic gifted to 21 of you, by concentrating it to just one. You'll pay the price, but first finish your utterance, for I can't bear your voice any more."
Sumara wanted to say something mocking but then controlled himself, it was not the right time, not now. He just went on with information demanded from him,
"They knew they had to be fast, as they weren't going to last for too long. In that small amount of time they broke through Adversus Materia knew about the Prophecy and the Curse and stored it all down in a Pleurobrechia."
Pleurobrechia was a sea entity, with glass like appearance and one of the toughest body, it didn't have any power or magic but was able to bear anything on it. It's modern day descendants still exist today in nature.
"We knew they were dying and there was nothing I could do to save them, the sight of them melting like lava in front of my eyes still leaves me awake at nights. They were dying for a cause for us, their entire life, their sacrifice will be remembered by the coming generations of elves. They are the saviours of the Elifian era which will thrive under their...."
"You do talk a lot, Your Highess!" Aeryn snapped, sarcastically stressing at the Highness.
"My lady...." The smirk was back again on his face.
"You reek of dishonesty, I knew the moment I saw you, but cut to the chase, how did that little hag got this little power of yours is what perplexes me, so be a lamb and tell that, or I'll rip that information out your throat..."
"Oh it was in the Prophecy my lady, I have nothing to do with that, she was a toddler then, and somehow escaping from her room she walked under the Grand Tahara tree where it was all happening, she was destined to be born, so you could die."
Idril looked proudly at her father who was relying on her for their entire race.
"The essence of Mages got out of their bodies and entered hers, turning her appearance in what you are seeing now."
He ran a hand across her hair. Idril touched his hand in response.
"We thought she would die, and meet the same fate as The Aurum but we were wrong. We still don't know what had happened."
Artemis eyes first narrowed and then widened in the same second.
He knew what had happened. The forbidden magic out of the Mages was purified after passing through their bodies, the dark element in it was purely consumed in disintegrating them, that's why it didn't harm Idril. And there she stood possessing the entire reflected energy of the universe, though it was faint being indirect, but even he didn't know now what it was capable of.
"Die? Huh, really with that weaker, diluted what we can barely call magic, No! she may be able to harm maybe one or two of us but to kill us all, never! I am grivened to inform you that all your efforts are summing up be nothing, just like you. I must say I am impressed, I never thought you would stoop so low, to mess up with the anti matter, you have accelerated the curse, now its coming after creation even faster, thanks to you, Your Highess, but now, I want to see the what she's got in those ill- fated hands."
And she joined her hand with Artemis as together they raised them up.
"No cease yourselves!" Idril interrupted. And she joined her hands to create an orb. Her hands illuminated with white light now with black color at the base.
Aeryn turned her direction to Sumara instead,
"Your little magic can't stop both of us, your little girl will pay the price of your stupidity, but not before you."
Idril came in front of Sumara, with her black eyes shining like opals. She extended her hands and her hair freed themselves off their braids and were floating all around her.
With a growl in her voice she began,
"I know I can't kill you.... but.... I can kill all of them!"
And she turned in the other direction, aiming at Cyrus, and at all the mermaids behind him.
