11| The Prophecy and The Curse
Sumara knew he had puzzled them enough, and it was time to reveal how they discovered the two interlinked secrets of nature- the prophecy and the curse.
There was a strange calmness in his voice as he commenced his words, "3 million years ago from now we gathered the most powerful of our elves who were blessed with the strongest magic and we called each of them a Mage."
It was no surprise they were at it for so long even though an elf's life span was a few thousand years, the magical ones were able to extend it to several millions of it.
So was the case of Casparia and Sumara who had no magic themselves, but were existing from the beginning of the Elfian Era with the help of the magic of their fellow elves.
He continued "The 21 elf mages were inclusively called The Aurum, and used their gift to explore the debarred realms of the cosmos, the anti matters also known as The Adversus Materia, the region forrbidden to all creations, inaccessible to the nature, even to the Most Powerful."
He continued "But somehow they were able to pry open it and were astonished with the secret it had in it's womb. They found out about the beginning of Genesis, witnessing every process of it happening in front of them as billions of years felt like mere seconds in those realms and eventually learned about the curse ailing all the living beings and ofcourse the only weakness of the Children Of Terra, The Statera Curse." And he glanced back at Artemis to look at his reaction.
Artemis couldn't believe the words coming out of Sumara's mouth,or maybe he just didn't want them to be true. He had never thought someone would ever think of exploring the Adversus Materia, let alone use it to steal the secrets of nature. The Forbidden deed, the sin was done.
A swarm of questions came baffling in his mind.
"How did they gain access? Even if they tried with all their potential it was still impossible, I don't understand...." Were words of Artemis before being interrupted by Cyrus, who had a very little understanding of magic(lacked the ability to harness it) let alone the incantations to ingress the dark realms.
"What is this curse, Sumara answer me!" he asked, being quite for too long had taken a toll on his temper and with Sumara dodging his questions and not informing him of his recent endeavours, it was getting worse. He was the King of the Waters now and he wouldn't permit any being to offend him atleast in the seas.
Sumara looked at him, ran his hands across his mane as he began speaking again,
"When the creation, the Materia was forged out of nothing also known as The Void, the equilibrium was disturbed and the opposite force, the force of the Adversus Materia was going to engulf it all, to kill everything. So there was a need of something to hold the falling pillars of The Void, something that was both creation and demolition, life and death, matter and antimatter." He raised his voice by two folds as he shifted this burning gaze, like emeralds on fire to Artemis again,
"Something that would be the balance, the Statera I mean, not just of this planet but of the entire universe, someone that would pause the mixing of the two realms."
Artemis's face was changing color along with his entire form, it was a common thing for Necromancers to reflect their frame of mind in their anatomy, but the color reflected was blue which meant he was in a state of vexation, he was provoked or in brief words, he was not happy.
The elves had indeed crossed all boundaries by creating a weapon against him and now they had discovered the forbidden process of their origins, they were interfering with the course of nature.
But he still had some patience left to let Sumara finish his boastful speech,
"That being had to be powerful enough to bear that kind of enthalpy, and this gave rise to the infamous curse. He needed both creation and void to exist, deprive the nature of either, the balance would disrupt and he would die."
He smirked while speaking the ending line and continued further,
"So he would go any extent to save the balance, to save the equilibrium. They are the intermission differentiating both edges of the oblivion. They exist because we were born and they exist because we die, but never the one without the other."
There was a long silence which was eventually ceased by Cyrus,
"So what did you do my brother, I am afraid you have accelerated the doom on us."
Sumara roared loudly, "There's no doom but one and he is standing right in front of us." And he was again face to face with Artemis.
To which Aeryn reacted with, "You reprobated, mutt headed elf, all these years we were....."
But Sumara raised his hand as if he was signalling her to stop, "I have not yet finished my lady, and as commanded by your better half, I must inform him about the sacrifices we made, to extract the unfeasiable."
