// Fat-Shaming//

I'm so mad right now. First of all, I don't understand why people think fat shaming is even remotely acceptable.

I came across a picture of this beautiful girl loving herself on Instagram and what people had to say about it was heartbreakingly disgusting.

"YoU fAt WhAlE hAhA WtF"

I used to do it too, I used to think being fat was the worst thing that could happen to you in terms of physical appearance. That's how we were conditioned to think and we all had/have internalized fatphobia at some point.

I don't understand all the shit that the body-positivity movement gets. They're not fucking promoting being obese ffs. You can't just willingly 'choose' to be obese.

(This is from www.psychologytoday.com)

All the body-positivity movement is  promoting is loving and accepting your body and taking care of it. There's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with glorifying normal bodies instead of the unrealistic ones that we're used to associate with beauty.  There's nothing wrong with telling you to love yourself no matter what you look like.

Though, that's a whole other topic. Right now, I'm just fucking pissed about how normalized fat shaming is.
A fat body is treated as either a running gag in most movies/tv shows or a character flaw.

The word "fat" is used as a fucking insult when it's not. It's just a description of physical appearance. You can be fat and beautiful.

The excuse people mainly have behind fat-shaming is that they're doing the person a favor, they're motivating them to lose weight.

Besides all this, that's such a fucked up way of thinking and it's been proven that it does more harm than good.
Losing weight isn't always a good thing, most diets are unhealthy as fuck and only temporary.

Being underweight is unhealthy too.

There are well-documented health issues among models aka the people who are the epitome of perfect health in society's eyes but nobody wants to talk about that.

I was pretty fat when I was 10 so this one time I got food-poisoned and lost an unhealthy amount of weight. Everyone was complimenting me and being all like, "Oh, look at you! At least one good thing came out of it. You're healthy now!"

I was fucking food poisoned at the time. I couldn't stop puking and felt weak as fuck. How is that even remotely "healthy?" And you do not say shit like that to a ten-year-old.

Also, how the fuck is somebody else's body any of your business?  Even if being fat was unhealthy (which it is not), don't you romanticize and look up to people smoking, doing drugs and other unhealthy habits?

Do you see anyone commenting, "Eww stop promoting lung cancer!" on the posts of instagram baddies, 'aesthetically' smoking cigarettes.

Does someone have to be in perfect health to earn respect and basic human decency from people ?

You can talk all about how much you love food when you're skinny and aww it's cute but if you're fat, eww you're destroying your body, do you have no shame?
When other people's eating habits aren't even your business in the first place.

Morale of story despite this not even being a story: Let people fucking live and love themselves. If you don't have anything nice to say someone, shut the fuck up and don't tear down the self esteem that took them so long to build. Thank you.
