Luna POV:

It was like time slowed down as the blade made from smoke shot through the air, Natsu runs trying to stop the blade but his hand goes right through it. My eyes widened as I screamed out Lucy's name, only to see the blade not go through our Lucy. But through Future Lucy. She dove in front of the blade to protect Lucy...

Blood gushes from her mouth and new wound as she falls to the floor with a thud, I run over to her pulling her head into my lap and looking at her wounds to see if there is anything I can do. 

"Wait.." Lucy asks in a daze as she slowly walks over to us.

"Lucy!" Happy yells running over.

"Stay with me Lucy..." I say as I slowly pull back some of the folds of her cloak, the wound is deep...too deep for me to be able to do anything...

"I...never....shut...the...door..." Future Lucy says looking up at our Lucy.

"I know! I would never do something like that!" Lucy says looking down with tears gathering in the corners of her eyes. "Why did you protect me?!"

"You are...me..in the...past..." Future Lucy says struggling to speak. "If you died...I'd vanish any...way..."

"Try and save some of your strength...maybe I can fly you to some healers and get you some help..." I say as tears fall from my own eyes.

Blood drips from Future Lucy's mouth as she slowly raises a hand to wipe away my tears, a soft smile on her now pale face.

"Don't cry....Luna...." She says to me. "It's weird....you know?...Watching...myself....watch me....die..." 

"It's weird for me too!" Lucy yells. "So don't die! Don't do it ok!"

"It's alright...People I never...thought...I'd see....alive....and now....I meet them again..." Future Lucy says, I glance around at the others and notice them all wearing horrified looks.

There must be something we can do....something to save her. I've been hurt badly lots of times, and I've turned out ok. Please, think of something!

"Just seeing...you...all again...makes me...so...happy." Future Lucy says coughing up blood, I take one of my hands and wipe off some of the blood. I stroke her hair as she begins to drown in her own blood, tears threatening to fall each time I look at her.

Happy walks over and places a paw onto Lucy's chest, tears flowing down his cheeks as he speaks. 

"Lucy no...Don't die..." He says sniffing.

"I don't belong...to this age...no not even....this...world..." She says looking at Happy. "The me...of this world...should stay....with her friends..." Lifting a hand weakly she places it on Happy's head. "Don't....be sad..."

"Sure I'm sad!! I don't care what world you come from...I don't care what anybody says, you're Lucy!! you're Lucy!!! You're my friend!! Any Friend would be sad about that!!!" Happy sobs as Future Lucy pulls him into a tight hug.

She then looks at our Lucy with a soft smile on her face. "Could...you show...me..your guild...mark..." She asks.

Lucy then slowly lift's her right hand, her pink guild mark pointed so that Future Lucy can see it. Future Lucy lift's her spare hand and strokes it softly, happy tears falling down her pale cheeks.

"You're right hand....it's...." Our Lucy says in shock.

I glance over at Natsu and see the agony written all across his face, he brought Lucy to Fairy Tail. They spent years together, fighting and going on adventures. Long before I came into the picture, the two of them were best friends. And they still are, but I can't help but feel that I stole Natsu from Lucy...That I destroyed their friendship, all because we fell in love with each other...

"I wish I could have gone...on another adventure..." Future Lucy says as her eyes softly begin to close, I listen and hear her heart become slower and slower... "Protect the future...."

And then she's gone....

I begin to sob as I cradle her body in my arms, heat slowly beginning to leave her body. 

"She doesn't realize she closed the door...." Rogue says looking at us with hard eyes, through this whole thing he hasn't said a word until now.

"What about the damn door! I would never do such a thing!! And still you...." Our Lucy yells looking at Future Lucy.

"You don't think so, but in a few hours you will close the door!" Rogue yells, his hands balled into fists.

"I will not close the door!! Here you go with all that talk...What are you really after!!" Lucy yells, I've never seen her this mad before.

"You are fated to close the door!! As long as you are alive..." Rogue starts but is then cut off by Lucy.

"The future me already said she didn't do it! And I trust myself!" Lucy yells rising to her feet.

Rogue holds his hand up and black smoke begins to surround it, his face turns to one of pure anger. "There is no truth in your words! Destiny has decided everything here!"

I feel power surge inside me, I move future Lucy's head from my lap and rise to my feet. Then putting as much force into my wings as I can, I flap them and then ignite my fist. Blue scales appear on my skin as I fly quickly at Rogue sending my fist crashing into his face, tears fall from my cheeks as Rogue goes flying into the wall.

"No one will steal my friends future from them!" I yell, remembering future Lucy's final words I make a promise. "I promise I will protect the future!"

Turning back to the others I can see Natsu's still frozen looking at future Lucy's body, I walk over and give him a shake snapping him from his thoughts.

"Listen, I need you to get Lucy away from here!" I yell at him, focusing my attention back on Rogue.

"But Luna..." Lucy starts before Loke grabs her arm.

"We're going to let Luna handle things from here!" He yells as he begins to pull Lucy away. "You're the one he's after! You have to run!"

"R-right..." Lucy says and then I hear everyone run away, giving my cheeks a wipe I dry my tears.

"You're not getting away!" Rogue yells, his entire body becoming smoke.

My fist now alight with blue and silver flames quickly comes crashing down on Rogue's head, sending him crashing into the floor.

"Luna Nightwing...." He mutters trying to get his bearings. "I planned for the possibility that you would stand against me. But no matter what happens, you are fated to be killed by a dragon. So it will not change fate if I were to finish you off here!"

"Who knew you were such a jerk." I say as he circles me.

"The years will change anyone." Rogue says, then with a smirk he comes at me. "So die here and now! Luna Nightwing!"

I bring my arms over my chest to protect me as Rogue fires an attack at me, I hide away my wings so they wont get damaged and place my feet onto the ground. Right now I'm too angry to feel anything from them, smoke flows off my arms as the skin burns from the attack Rogue sent at me.

"You stole the life of someone I care about, right before my eyes!" My eyes turn hard as I glare at Rogue. "I don't trust your way!!! We're gonna protect the future our own way!"

I send a fist exploding with power at Rogue which knocks him unconcious, taking this chance to escape I run after the others saving my magic energy. something tells me I'll need every ounce of my strength when I catch up with the others, following my nose I follow the scent of smoke. Natsu...I need so see him, and tell him everything is ok. That Lucy didn't die for nothing. I run quickly and then notice everyone hiding behind a hedge, placing a hand softly on Lucy's arm I smile at her.

"Luna, you ok?" She whisperes.

"Yeah, I managed to knock him out." I say with a slight smirk.

"But Luna, you're face...it's covered in scales..." Lucy mentions.

Confused I lift a hand and stroke my cheeks, and just like she said it's covered in scales. I can also feel the tattoo on my back pulsing with magic energy, but why? We're so close to the eclipse gate I shouldn't be feeling this much magic energy filling my body.

"Never mind that, what's been going on." I ask looking at the princess.

"It looks like their're about to open the gate." Natsu says glancing over at me, worry plastered all over his face. "I'm going to run back and make sure that Rogue stay's unconcious, I'll be back soon." Natsu says planting a soft kiss onto my lips before he runs off.

Glancing from the princess to Lucy I can see she's worried, her whole face is telling me she's scared and worried. I grab her hand with mine and give it a soft squeeze, she smiles back at me and then our attention is drawn by the princess.

"There is no need to hide. Come out." She calls to us.

"So much for hiding..." I whisper standing up, glancing down at my legs I notice that they don't hurt anymore because the bottom of them are covered in scales. I sigh and then walk over the hedge, with the others following.

"We never did anything wrong!" Happy yells in defense.

"Fairy Tail?" The princess asks. "We have done you wrong. However since we're in an emergency situation, I must postpone official apologies to a later date." 

"It's the princess!" Wendy squeals while Carla shakes her head.

"I also offer my congratulations on your win at the Grand Magic Games." The princess says with a small smile.

We all look at each other and have a small cheer, I can't help but smile along with them. Despite everything that's going on, we can take a small second to celebrate our win. 

"Why are you opening the door? The dragons aren't here yet." Lucy asks.

"They know of the dragons?" Princess Hisui asks.

"Yes, these people know of our situation." The voice sounds familiar, looking at the knight in white armor I recognise it as Arcadios. "Come to think of it, where is the 'you' of the future?"

"She was murdered, the other one from the future killed her." I say looking at my legs, they are covered with a mixture of my own blood and Lucy's.

"He said that I was going to stand in the way of getting the door to open, so the Eclipse cannon never fired." Lucy explains.

"And that is why he tried to kill you?" Arcadios asks.

"You will stand in the way?" The princess asks shocked.

"I won't do anything of the kind! But...why are you opening the door even though there aren't any dragons?" Lucy asks.

"That's because the cannon needs time to fire, if we were to wait for the dragons to arrive then we'd be out of time." The princess says looking back at the Eclipse Gate.

"Is this really the best option of taking down all the dragons?" I ask. "I mean we have got some dragon slayers here, why not use us?"

"I can say nothing for certain, however his majesty should be working on a plan for the worst case scenario." The Princess explains.

Looking over at the gate I watch as it slowly begins to open, magic energy begins to flood out from the gate. My tattoo burns on my back and I feel more scales appear along my arms, something doesn't feel right about the energy coming from the gate. It feels like energy is flowing from somewhere, the magic energy feels old. Older than the magic energy I feel normally, a bright white light pours from the gate opens more. Something tells me this will be the deciding day.

July 7th... The day the dragons re-appear....
