🤍Epilogue🤍
"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."
A famous quote by Dolly Parton.
Every rainy day, I think of that quote. I think about how an element so dull and grey can give rise to something beautiful.
<4 Years Later>
"Taehyung! We're going to be late!" I yelled while shaking him by the shoulder, "Wake up already."
He began to stir in his sleep, groaning at my persistence. He was still in bed, despite having plans that he had initiated.
"What's the time?" He mumbled, still in a daze.
I glanced at my phone, seeing that the time was 7:14 am.
"It's... almost 8," I said, hoping he would have more urgency if he believed that he had less time, "and we need to be there by 8:30."
Taehyung looked up at me with his puppy-dog eyes. A tiny pout formed on his lips. My heart can't handle it when he does this. Before I could tell him to stop, he reached for my hand, pulling me down so that I sat on the bed beside where he slept.
"I don't want to wake up," he moaned like a baby, curling himself down and hugging my waist while his head buried itself into my tummy. "Let's stay home today."
Instinctively, I began running my fingers through his hair, gently moving my hand to the side of his face to rub my thumb on his cheek.
"Tae, you invited them out," I spoke softly, moving his head up to look at me, "we can't cancel last minute because you're lazy."
"Can we at least cuddle first?" He pleaded while I giggled at his cuteness, "please? Only for a few minutes."
Oftentimes, we dwell on the past. We regret the little things that we can't change and continue through life with that regret in mind.
Regrets are a way of teaching you. It's not that we're supposed to change the past but rather that we're supposed to learn from the past. Learn to move on.
Live in the moment, because none of us are promised tomorrow.
"Well, it's about time," Jungkook bellowed to us as we walked into the cafe just before 9.
Taehyung had invited them all out for breakfast. The group of 6 boys were already seated at the table with menus in front of them.
"Sorry guys," Taehyung cooed to everyone, "Y/n couldn't wake up."
"Me?" I questioned shockingly, "I couldn't wake up?"
Taehyung had given me a slightly awkward smirk while everyone else started giggling at the two of us.
"Relax," Jimin spoke out, earning silent chuckles from everyone around him, "we know exactly what he means."
We tend to take the simplest of things for granted. Sometimes we don't see just how much of an impact a friend has on your life.
We don't notice the value of a friend until they aren't there anymore. But true friends are those that become family.
"Hey, babe," Taehyung whispered to me while the guys at the table continued their munching, "can I have a bite of your pancake?"
"I thought you wanted bacon and eggs," I protested while protecting my sugary breakfast.
"I do," he crooned, "but your pancakes smell good."
"Well, Jungkook has pancakes too."
Taehyung had directed his attention to the younger, scouring at his idea of balanced flavours. Pancakes stacked together with whipped cream between each one, chocolate sauce dripping down one side, strawberry jam down the other, lime flavoured ice cream swirled on the top with gummy bears and sour worms decorating the surface.
"Jungkook's are a bit," he spoke, pausing to find the right word, "-eccentric."
We both watched as the maknae sliced through his stack as though it were nothing. He chewed on his bite and made it look delicious, offering Hoseok a bite when they met eyes. Hoseok thankfully declined with an awkward smile.
"I don't know where he puts it all," Taehyung whispered, causing me to chuckle at his words and cut a piece of my pancake for him.
"Here, open wide."
There are a lot of moments in life that are like a train. People get on and people get off. It's important is to remember those that choose to stay for the entire journey.
But even those that choose to exit the train are there to teach you something, so always be aware.
"Has anyone heard from Ahreum lately?" Namjoon had asked.
Jin had elevated his hand, grabbing our attention as he chewed faster in an attempt to answer.
Ever since we had all graduated, we tried to get together more often. That included Yoongi and Jin who were close to the boys, despite being ever so slightly older.
As for Ahreum, she eventually transferred schools in her final year since she didn't want her familial ties to interfere with her school life anymore. She was becoming a whole new person.
"Her dad sponsors our school activities," Jin paused, clearing the saliva in his mouth to speak more clearly, "I asked him the other day, and he said Ahreum would be taking over the family business."
"Y/n," Jimin called, "do you two still keep in touch?"
She and I were closer. I slowly started to trust her more and more. She was changing for the better and maturing into a wonderful person. Needless to say, I was proud of her.
"Occasionally, I haven't heard from her in a while though."
Trust doesn't come with a magical refill. Sometimes, it takes time to trust a person again after they've wronged you.
However, trust is a two-way game. You each learn to have faith in each other, gradually.
Trust the process.
"Hey Tae," Hoseok had spoken, "you wanna share a slice of coffee cake?"
Taehyung had a bit of a sweet craving that morning, hence why Hobi had offered. Tae grimaced at the word 'coffee', not very amused by the orderers choice of flavour.
"I would," He mumbled, "but Y/n doesn't like the smell of coffee."
"Ah, that's right," Namjoon exclaimed, "Taehyung doesn't drink coffee."
Everyone had begun laughing at his excuse, myself included.
"Taehyungie," Jin spoke between his laughs, "you can't use your girlfriend as an excuse forever."
Taehyung had blurted out something which I had never expected him to say.
"Well, she won't be my girlfriend forever."
Everyone looked at him with serious eyes. My face had slightly fallen, my lips parted as I waited for him to explain.
"One day, I'll use my wife as an excuse."
Love can be scary. Falling in love and hoping that someone is there to catch you can be terrifying. But even if it hurts, we need to take a leap of faith.
While love can be scary, it can also help you blossom and grow into a flower more beautiful than any. Broken hearts get better with time, and they only help you appreciate love more.
Never fear love.
"Y/n, can I talk with you for a second?" Yoongi asked me as we were talking out of the cafe.
I glanced over at Taehyung, who smiled at me and gently let go of my hand.
"I'll wait outside," he cooed as he walked out, following behind the guys that had exited already.
"Yoongi?" I asked in a concerned tone, "is something wrong?"
He chuckled at me, motioning us to sit down at the table once more.
"I remember the day you called me by my first name," he grinned, "you were so nervous."
I was a bit embarrassed at the memory. I had given him an awkward smile while my hand raised to scratch my neck in nervousness.
"I guess I was," I chuckled, "I was a ball of nerves back then."
He chortled at the memory of my first day meeting him. Everything seems as though it were just yesterday, but time just flew by.
"You're an amazing and such a strong person," Yoongi said with dignity laced in his voice, "you've come so far from that little ball of nerves."
I felt extremely humbled at his words. Thinking back, a lot had happened, but together, we were able to weather the storm.
"I'm really proud of you, Y/n."
We grow mentally stronger with each day that passes. Our mind and soul expands and we develop into a better person every day.
Our wounds and hardships become armour of sorts after a while. Not because time heals them, or even because you heal them.
We learn how to move on from them and adapt.
"What time is the next screening?" Taehyung had asked me as we approached the cinema.
"You're asking me like I work here."
Taehyung and I had decided to get the tickets to the next movie that screens. The boys were all ahead of us. They had already queued at the snack bar in pursuit of popcorn.
"There!" He called as he pointed to a digital board showing the screening times, "the next is at-"
My phone rang, grabbing both of our attention and interjecting Tae. Both of us had looked at the screen. Upon seeing the caller ID, he smiled at me, telling me through his eyes that I can be excused.
"I should take this," I said, as I stepped a bit out of the line, "can you get the tickets? It's noisy in here, so I'm gonna take this outside."
Forgiveness. (Noun)
the action or process of forgiving or being forgiven.
Forgiveness is accepting what has happened and learning how to live in a state of resolution with it.
It's a gradual process. We don't always forgive for the sake of the person that wronged us, but also for our own sake.
Forgiveness is one of the best forms of love.
"Hey mom, how's the new house?"
