<Third person POV>

It was the day before Christmas. The house was filled with decorations that just screamed 'festive'. Everything was decorated beautifully. There was, however, one lovebird in the bunch who started to believe that something missing from their merry home.

"Hey mom, do we have mistletoe?" Taehyung asked his mother who was currently doing all of the prep work for Christmas lunch.

"Isn't it a bit late to be putting up new decorations?" She asked him but all he did was eagerly shake his head, earning a chuckle from his mother, "try the attic, I'll come to help you in a bit."

An excited Taehyung had made his way to his mother, kissing her on the cheek while expressing his gratitude. With that, he had set off to the attic to find his desired ornament.

He entered the attic that was filled with dust. The air was thin and the pipes had rust.
He searched through it all, every box, as seconds, minutes, hours past on the clocks.
Despite all this and being dog tired, he still searched for the jewel he, so greatly, desired.

Until finally, after searching high and low, he found an ornament which resembled mistletoe.

"I found it, I found it!" He began chiming, "now Author-nim can finally stop rhyming!"

[*sorry... ]
[got caught up in the mood.*]

He made his way down to show off to his mother but alas, she was nowhere to be found. Taehyung had put that thought aside and decided to hang the fandangle on the living room doorframe.

His intention was just to fool around with Y/n but he began to think about using this as more than just a playful gimmick. This was his chance to get Y/n to initiate the first move.

<Attempt 1>

"Y/n! Can you come down for a minute?" He yelled to his girlfriend who had been tidying up her room.

After yelling out her response, she dashed downstairs to see why he chose to call out to her instead of meet her in her room. There was something suspicious in his eyes and his posture that, so casually, leaned against the living room doorframe.

"What's wrong?" She asked with a chuckle, to which he just smiled and pointed upwards, "I don't get it. What am I looking at?"

Taehyung pointed even more directly, causing Y/n to look up at the ornament, tilting her head to get a better view of it. After getting a good look at it, she looked back at the man beside her and expressed a face of confusion.

"It's mistletoe, you know?" Taehyung cooed to her, "So you owe me a kiss!"

A second had barely passed before Y/n had already burst out into laughter. So much so, that her eyes began to water. Taehyung however just looked confused by this.

"Tae Tae," she tried to speak and hold back her laughter, "baby, that's a corsage. Not mistletoe."

He looked up, flustered since he had made such a silly mistake. Shortly after his embarrassing moment, his mother walked into the room.

"Son, I found it."

They both glanced over to the woman holding the actual mistletoe in her hands. Taehyung only sighed while Y/n giggled and teasingly made her way back up to her room.

<Attempt 1: Failed>

Later that day, the Kim household was expecting some guests. A Christmas movie night with the whole of bangtan.

Now that the proper ornament was finally put up, Taehyung had tried to seize the moment once more. Y/n was currently in the kitchen, helping with the final preparations for Christmas lunch.

<Attempt 2>

"Y/n! Do you want to pick a movie for tonight?" Taehyung yelled out from the living room.

"Coming!"

This was his chance. He swiftly moved to the doorframe where the mistletoe had been hung and awaited his lover.

She approached the living room with a dishcloth pressed between her hands to dry them. Her eyes were focused on the man who had been gazing at her. She walked up to him, completely forgetting about the requirements for standing under the door with him.

He smiled at her teasingly as he pointed up once more. This time, she had no excuse since it was genuinely mistletoe this time around.

"You did this on purpose, didn't you?" She asked to which his grin grew even wider.

He moved in closer as he puckered up his lips in front of her. Y/n began to nervously place her hands on his shoulders, gently standing on her toes. Her face slowly moved closer to his. Until, finally...

"Y/n, sweety. Do you prefer normal mash or sweet potato mash?"

Taehyung's mother had suddenly popped up behind Y/n, causing both of them to flinch from surprise. They pulled away from each other, now feeling awkward from being around his mother.

"Oh? Was interrupting something?" She asked dauntingly.

"No. Nothing at all," Y/n mumbled as she frantically made her way back to the kitchen, fiddling with the dishcloth that still resides in her hands.

<Attempt 2: Failed>

It was night time and finally, their friends were there to have a movie night. Everyone had decided on watching 'The Grinch'.

Taehyung's mother had already gone to bed since it was a long day of preparing for her. They had to be a bit quieter when watching their movie now.

Movies aren't the same without a bit of snacks though. The boys decided to start the movie while Taehyung had offered to get them muchables.

Once the popcorn was done, he poured it all into a big bowl for everyone to share. As for the drinks, he may have needed a bit of help when it came to the glasses.

Which had struck an idea in him.

<Attempt 3>

"Y/n?" He cooed quietly since he couldn't exactly yell at this time of night, "could you help me with the snacks?"

Y/n had gently nodded at him, unsuspectingly making her way to the kitchen. The smell of popcorn had hit her as soon as she stepped foot into the kitchen.

Taehyung's plan was to get Y/n to help him carry all of the snacks back to the living room, but walk ahead of her so that he could block her way when she tried to enter the living room. That way, they would both be under the mistletoe together and she would need to kiss him.

He wasn't worried about being in an awkward situation like he was with his mother earlier since the boys would just be focusing on the movie.

As Y/n had picked up the glasses, Taehyung had set his plan into motion. He took the bowl of popcorn and made his war to the doorframe, only to meet a bump in the road. A handsome bump if I must say.

"Oh! Popcorn! Wheat seasoning is in here?" Jungkook suddenly asked Tae before he could make it to the door.

Taehyung was stagnant since Jungkook stood in front of him to taste the popcorn, ultimately blocking his path.

Y/n, on the other hand, had walked straight past them into the living room and placed the glasses in the coffee table. Taehyung was still in the hall with a nosey Jungkook, trying to decipher the flavour of seasoning used.

"You know, Kookie, your timing is terrible."

<Attempt 3: Failed>

The movie was over and it was finally time for the boys to leave. They needed to be home before midnight to spend the first minute of Christmas with their families.

It was always great to have friends over, but at this point, Taehyung wished that he never invited them. Maybe that way he wouldn't have had any interruptions.

Y/n was standing by the door, saying goodbye to each of them as they left one by one. It was close to midnight. Taehyung was hung up on the fact that he kept failing to get her under the mistletoe properly.

Finally, he heard the front door close, indicating that the last person would have left. This was it. Finally free of interruptions.

<Attempt 4>

"Hey, Y/n? Is this your phone?" He asked from the living room loudly enough for her to hear.

She began to check her pockets for her phone, but it was just where she remembered putting it; in her back pocket. Which meant that the phone that Taehyung found wasn't hers.

"Phone? Maybe one of the guys left theirs, I have mine in my back pocket," she cooed as she walked up to Taehyung.

He was leaning against the doorframe with a smug look on his face. Y/n finally understood why he was there. There was no phone. He just used that as an excuse to get her back into the 'hotspot'—if you want to call it that.

"No more interruptions," he crooned to her as he gently placed his arm around her waist, "this mistletoe has been waiting for you to do your job."

Just as he had finished his sentence, Y/n's phone rang. She reached in the back of her jeans for the phone, never removing Taehyung's hand from her waist.

"Taehyung, it's my mother, I'm sorry, I need to take this." She apologised as she walked away from the doorframe.

<Attempt 4: failed>

At this point, Taehyung had given up. He had lost hope in trying to get her to initiate the kiss. It was already close to midnight so he decided to just head to bed and wallow in disappointment.

Y/n had been on the call with her mother for a while. She never even noticed Taehyung's disappearance since she was so engrossed in her conversation.

After a few minutes had passed, the two had ended the call, wishing each other sweet dreams and many festivities for the morning.

She glanced at the clock in the kitchen, noticing that it was already morning. It had just passed Zero O'clock, meaning that it was already Christmas morning.

When she made her way back to the living room, she felt the emptiness. He wasn't there anymore. Taehyung can sometimes be petty, so she had already assumed where he would be. Sulking in bed.

The thought of this made Y/n feel a little guilty. He tried so hard the entire day but it ended being like a trite episode of Tom and Jerry, trying to reach their goals but never succeeding.

She walked up to his bedroom and ever so slowly opened the door, causing a slight creak to echo through the room. Everything was dark inside, the lights were all off and his phone was on charge on the nightstand. When she walked closer to him, she could hear the soft snores of her sleeping tiger.

She crouched down at the side of his bed, caressing his hair with her guilt-filled hands. Ever so gently, she knelt down and leaned in towards him and pressed her lips on his. A simple peck was all that occurred before she pulled away, simply staring at his lips.

Taehyung exhaled a heavy breath and he stirred in his sleep, but never awoke from it.
She continued stroking his smooth locks as he nuzzled even closer into her hand—still, never waking up.

"Merry Christmas, my winter bear,"

<Christmas Afternoon>

It was finally time for the big lunch. Taehyung's mother had been preparing this lunch for days. Everything was just as she wanted it. Perfect. Her guests were just about to arrive—the guests being Bangtan.

The two lovers of them were helping her set up the dining-room table. They were going back and forth, bringing one item to the table and going back to the kitchen to bring the next.

Taehyung was heading back to the kitchen while Y/n was bringing the eating utensils out. The two ended up bumping into each other. They just stood there, giggling at the situation and being thankful that Y/n didn't have any knives. She then remembered something.

"Hey, look up," she spoke out.

The mistletoe was right above them, meaning that Taehyung had to kiss her. She leaned forward, playfully closing her eyes and puckering up her lips while holding the utensils behind her back.

Before anything could even happen, the doorbell had rung.

"Ah, sorry. It's the guys. I need to open the door," he ironically joked with a smirk on his face.

He walked away, giggling with every step he took, making his way to open the door. There, he left an embarrassed Y/n, standing under the mistletoe alone with her body still leaned in...

"Yah! Kim Taehyung!"
