9 - Dog Park
We never went back to PE. We never went back to any class to be quite honest. I stayed at the infirmary the entire day and Taehyung stayed by my side. He never left. He told me to try to sleep a little bit, to tell the truth, I was afraid to fall asleep. I was afraid that when I wake up he wouldn't be there anymore.
That was when he clasped my hand with both of his and held it against his forehead, with which, he closed his eyes and uttered the words, "I'll be here always. Count on me"
I felt much more at ease by this and eventually fell asleep with my hand in his. Later on, when I had woken up from the most peaceful sleep I've had in ages, I found that he was still right there next to me. His fingers were intertwined with mine and he laid his head at the end of the bed, asleep.
I gently ran the fingers of my free hand through his hair, never letting go of the hand that so peacefully held on to mine. His hair was fluffy and soft. I hadn't realised that I began caressing his hair which slowly caused him to stir in his sleep. He soon woke up and noticed my fingers entangled in his hair. When I realised that he was awake, I pulled my fingers back, worried that he might find it weird.
"Aww. Why'd you stop?" He asked to my surprise, not raising his head from the side of the bed.
"Ah. I'm sorry, I-I didn't notice that you were awake." I said nervously when he lifted his head and looked me straight in the eye.
"So if I were still asleep, you'd play with my hair?" He asked to which I blushed and looked down. In the middle of my embarrassing blush, he chuckled a little.
"Haha, I'm sorry. Why don't we head home now? School ended a while ago." He said as he tilted his head and lifted my hand to his face to press on his cheek while giving me a cute pout. I nodded nervously.
When we left school, he insisted on walking me home. My jacket filled with dried up blood was in my bag and I still had his own. I feel as though I can trust him now but I'm still not ready to talk about my parents to anyone.
"Can we stop by the dog park?" I asked, not wanting to go home yet.
"I don't mind, but, wouldn't you rather be home to rest up?" He asked as I shook my head, my timidity shone through and he might have gotten the picture. "Ok. Sure then. Let's go."
We began walking to the dog park, along the way, our hands kept bumping into each other. Just the feeling of his skin grazing on mine was enough to send butterflies to my stomach. He suddenly pointed to one of the dogs and grabbed my hand as he ran with me forced to follow behind him.
"Look! Y/n! Isn't he cute!?" He said as me and the dog's owner just chuckled at the sight of this cute creature who was so amused by a furry friend. "Awww!! Y/n! He licked my face!"
While I was completely immersed in the sight in from of me, the lady who was holding the leash kept chuckling at us. "You make a cute couple." She said.
I blushed and tried to retort her statement. "Ah- actually w—"
"Y/n-ah~! Can you take a picture for me?" Taehyung cut me off as the lady kept snickering at us. I took a few pictures. He was just so photogenic that regardless of the angle or pose, he still cares out handsome in the photo. After that, we spent hours just watching and playing with the dogs.
"Oh, y/n, it's getting kind of late. I should get you home." He said. I didn't completely hate this idea anymore. Today was more fun than any other day that I came here alone.
He walked me home and we shared a few words. Most of which was Taehyung talking about how cute the dogs were.
"We should do that again sometime. I'd love to bring my dog there too." He said.
"You have a dog?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Yeah, a little Pomeranian. His name is Yeontan." He replied as he smiled and took out his phone to show me a picture. "That's my little Tannie~!"
"He's cute. I'd love to meet him sometime." I said, feeling much more comfortable with Tae now after this day we've spent together.
We eventually reached my house and we had to bid our farewells. Mom wasn't home, which was slightly relieving but since it was so late, I was a little worried.
The entire weekend passed and it's Sunday afternoon. Mom hadn't come back the whole weekend and I was pretty sure I knew why. Either she was drunk with her friends or with her boss while his wife was away.
I missed Tae a bit and I was regretting not having his contact details on my phone. Maybe I'll ask him on Tomorrow, or.... maybe not. Self-confidence isn't a flower that grows in everybody's garden =_=.
Eventually, Monday rolled around and it was time to go to school again. I woke up feeling great really. This was the first weekend that I hadn't used the blade. My body was blood-free and my mind was clear for once. Well, almost.
I still had this lingering feeling every time I thought about Tae. Every time I looked at his jacket I'd get this weird feeling in my stomach and when I recall our time at the dog park, I find myself grinning and I'm happy.
I had gotten to school with his jacket in another gift bag to give back to him when I see him. I ignored all of the sexual remarks and flirtatious whistles directed at me. Of course, it still bothered me, but it isn't as though it's new. It's been happening for years. So I set it aside and focused on my goal. Get Taehyungs contact details.
The lesson just sped past since I was barely paying attention. I ignored the glares shot at me as whispers still floated across the room and were only focused on the man behind me. Sometimes, if I focused hard enough, I could hear his breathing as it grew heavier and then calmed down again.
In my head, I was playing over scenarios of how I would ask him. Unfortunately, every time... he either said no or laughed. I know that he wouldn't do that and I'm overthinking this but I just don't want to risk it.
After the class was over, I waited for everyone to leave, including Taehyung who smiled at me before he could walk out so that I could talk to the teacher for a second.
"U-Uh, Mr. Min." I asked as approached his table.
"Hello y/n, is something wrong?" He asked, putting down his books to give me his undivided attention.
"Well, Uhm. I was hoping.... that... I could speak to... Yoongi?" I said with excessive hesitation since I was afraid that he would reject my request.
"Ahh. Personal problem hey?" He walked around his desk and sat down at one of the students' tables in the front row. "Well, y/n, since I'm talking to you as a friend, it wouldn't make sense to sit at my desk, would it?"
He pulled out the chair next to him for me to sit down and have a conversation one on one.
"So what's on your mind y/n?" He asked.
"Well... you see." I said while still trying to formulate the question properly in my head. "How does a person know when they... you know... like another person... more than platonically?" I looked down as I was afraid to see his reaction to my question.
"I see. How do you know when you're in love?" He further simplified my question.
"It depends really. It's different from person to person. I think that romance begins with trust. You might even find yourself smiling at just the thought of the person and you want them to be happy no matter what. Whenever you see them, you get these butterflies in your stomach and you always want them close to you."
He finished off as I looked up to see his hand on his chin waiting for me to respond.
"I-I see, so what steps should one take when they've established that ...that they're..." I said nervously, to which he chuckled.
"When you realise you're in love, I think the first step is communication. To further deepen their bond." He replied. I nodded and slowly stood up.
"I think I understand now Mr. M— I mean... Yoongi." I said with a smile as I thanked him and walked over to the door, only for him to call me back once more.
"Y/n!" He called out as I turned to him sitting on the student chair. "I believe in you. He's a nice boy so don't be afraid." He finished as I blushed at the fact that he knew exactly who I was talking about this entire time. He chuckled lightly and gave me the go-ahead to cheer me on.
"HOW?!...... how do you know who it is?" I asked as I mentally face palmed myself, embarrassed that I raised my voice.
He chuckled at me and replied, "y/n. I've only seen you talk to two people since you got here, and one of them is Jungkook from one grade below." He stepped towards me and ruffled my hair as I timidly twiddled my thumbs. "You'll be fine. Just talk to him more." I nodded my head with his hand still placed on my scalp.
"Yoongi, one more question." I said as he tilted his head out of curiosity.
"How do I ask a boy for his number?"
