27 - Speaking of Birthdays...
<Y/n POV>
"Jungkook? What are you doing here?" I asked. His face looked pale and he just grabbed my hand.
"Shh, be quiet." Before I knew it we were running. I almost fell down the stairs but our quiet footsteps soon reached a few flights down. "Do you think they heard us?"
"Jungkook. What's happening?" I asked while still panting heavily as though my life depended on it. Actually, it did depend on it. Sports is not my strong suit.
"Shh." He hushed me even though he started talking first. "Let's get out of here first."
He let go of my hand and just motioned me to continue speed walking down the stairs until we were finally out of sight from whoever was on the roof. We walked into his empty homeroom classroom.
"What's wrong? Why did you run?" I asked and his face just grew concerned.
"Noona, can I ask you something?" He spoke to which I nodded, "are you happy with Hyung?"
"Why are you asking this," I asked him nervously, remembering why I came here in the first place.
"Wait, speaking of him, where is he?" Jungkook asked when he realised I was alone.
His words made me realise that too. This whole running thing made me forget why I was upset again, but when he mentioned Tae, I started to remember how depressed I was.
"He's with Irene," I hissed, "She called him to pick her up this morning. So I'm here alone."
Jungkook's expression grew even more concerned while I could feel my eyes start to get misty.
"Noona..." he chimed. It seemed like he wanted to say something, but he just stopped there.
"So, why were you running? Why did you drag me? I just wanted some air." I spoke out like a child throwing a tantrum.
"Uhm, exercise?" He cooed. Wow. Muscle pig forever.
Jungkook and I made our way to my classroom. We decided to wait for the guys there since he didn't want to go back to the roof, claiming that he was too tired after running. The minutes dragged, each seemingly longer than the last.
Jungkook is acting weird though. His usual bubbly self seemed like it was hiding today. He's the one that normally strikes up a conversation but today, it's as though he's got something on his mind. Every time I tried to start up a conversation, he just gave me unadorned answers of grunted in my direction.
"Jungkook? Is everything okay?" I asked since it was obvious that there was something on his mind.
"Hmm?" he hummed at me, "Oh, no, I'm just thinking about something."
With his words being a little more than suspicious, I wondered whether he was really okay. Before I could pry any deeper, Jimin and Taehyung had walked into the classroom, followed by Namjoon and Hobi trailing not too far behind. I was glad to have only seen them. As petty as it seems, I'm glad to see that Irene wasn't with them.
Taehyung laid his eyes on me. Eyes that effulged with a flame that could scorn me with love upon first glance. He smiled at me with those lips that can make you dissolve when they're pressed against yours. I gave him a small chuckle as we just stared at each other lovingly. Our moment lasted for a few seconds until Namjoon fake coughed, taking us both out of this trance-like state of mind that we were in.
"We're here too, lover boy," he stated with a grin in an attempt to tease the two of us.
The guys all started talking about arbitrary things like games and music, topics that I also love so I was listening in as well. Everyone was seemingly normal except for Jungkook once again. Taehyung kept sneaking me glances and making me blush at his teasing, making me slightly unaware of Jungkook's sudden withdrawn attitude.
In no time, the bell had rung for homeroom and everyone left for their respective classrooms with exception to Jimin, Taehyung and I. Mr Min had come in to take the register. Whilst he was doing that, Taehyung kept poking at my back and trying to irritate me cutely. When Mr Min had finally left the class to take the register to the main office, the class had begun to talk again.
"Y/n, there's something in your hair," he spoke out.
My response was to gently tilt my head over and run my fingers through it, waiting for something to fall out. When I noticed that nothing fell out, I looked up at Taehyung and he just chuckled at me and gestured for me to come closer. His fingers entangled themselves in my locks but to my surprise, he began stroking my hair and placed his palm on my face.
"Just kidding," he crooned, making me giggle at his action, "I just miss you."
He is really starting to confuse me with his actions now. One minute he's all buddy-buddy with Irene and the next he's acting lovey-dovey with me.

Later at lunch

We're all having lunch like a real family today. Even Jimin is with us, which is kind of rare these days. He usually isn't even anywhere that we can see him. He's awfully quiet though, should I try to make conversation?
"That's a pretty necklace, Jimin," I said happily.
"Thanks." He practically whispered to me. Wow, this might be harder than I expected.
"Where did you get it?" I asked.
His response was simply to gesture his head in Taehyung's direction and stuff a potato chip in his mouth. It makes you wonder if he even heard me but he obviously did due to his response.
"I got it for his birthday last year," Taehyung answered in his place. At least someone cares.
"Speaking of birthdays," spoke Jungkook, "Noona, when is yours?"
"Uhm, this weekend," I replied nonchalantly.
Everyone's faces shot up and glared at me. They look surprised.
"What? And you didn't tell me?" Taehyung asked in a somewhat interrogative manner.
"I don't really celebrate my birthday. I didn't think it was important."
"Baka! (Fool) Of course, it is!" Taehyung said as he flicked my forehead, "when is it?"
"Ahh, Saturday," I answered.
Before either of us could get in another word, a storm approached. She came with her stiletto heels and a designer handbag. Not to mention the beautiful manicure. Hair that's on fleek with light make-up that magnifies her beauty.
"Taehyungieeee!" She chimed as she draped herself on his back and allowed her arms to dangle in front of him.
"Irene? Hey, why don't you join us?" He replied.
Wow, did he already forget about our conversation? This is why I said it isn't important because nobody cares about it. I was hoping that Tae did, but I guess not. It doesn't even matter anymore.
"Jal meogeotseumnida.*" I spoke out and left the table to clear my tray.
*T/N "The meal was good" or "Thank You"
Typically said after finishing a meal.
"Noona, hold on," Jungkook spoke out as he ran after me with his empty tray. "Are you done? You still have a bunch of fries."
"I'm done. Thank you." I said bluntly.
"So, your birthday? What do you wanna do?" He asked which surprised me. I would have just assumed that everyone would have discarded the conversation.
"Oh, anything is fine," I replied, to which he smiled at me and helped me empty my tray.
"You should tell Hyung too," Jungkook said.
We both looked back and saw him talking to Irene. She was being touchy with him. If I'm being honest, he looked a bit awkward there, but since we're being honest, I feel a little betrayed over here.
"He seems preoccupied," I spoke monotonously at Jungkook and turned to walk away.
"Hold on! Wait up! Let me walk you to class."
I can't shake this feeling that Jungkook wants to tell me something. Since this morning when we were running down the stairs, he just looks like he's just itching to say it but then changes the topic. Now was a good example. Instead, he just changed the topic and walked.
"Jungkook, is everything okay?" I asked. He was fiddling with his thumbs the whole way. He just seemed very nervous.
"Noona, don't get angry... but... I need to tell you something." He chimed.
Hearing him practically whisper these words to me filled me with trepidation. He's been acting strange ever since this morning. Looking at his nervous state leaves me wondering how serious this truly is.
"What's wrong? Talk to me." I persisted.
Suddenly, he stopped walking. A shadow of hesitation clouded his eyes as he looked up at me. I stopped walking and instead, just stared at his physical state.
"You see, Noona," he started while twiddling his thumbs, "this morning, I..."
"This morning you what?" I persisted further, causing him to grow more hesitant.
"I may or may not have overheard a conversation"
