(7) - Here we are

ACE TRIPPED OVER HER BRA and scowled at the piece of clothing. After stealing from that man she went home for some alone time. She put on some pajamas and practiced her fighting skills. Ace still felt bad for yelling at Natasha but Natasha had no reason to be prying for information that was none of her business. Ace sat down at the desk and opened her laptop; when the screen lit up the photo of Natasha from a few days ago appears.

How can something so beautiful be so damaged?

Natasha is deadly, she carries the name of the Black Widow. And she kills like such, but she defended Ace. She saved Ace's life when her luck seemed to be running out. Whenever Ace thought of Nat, she saw the smiles that she had been able to get out of the seemingly emotionless woman.

Ace always felt like she wouldn't find anyone to ever be entranced by, someone to breathe in and just enjoy but she thinks that she has. This woman, the anomaly has taken over her mind and has made her question everything. Ace was fine- content even -with not knowing who she was and why she didn't remember her life before. She was fine with that.

But ever since Nat asked her who she was, Ace couldn't stop asking herself who she truly was.

Here she was, questioning herself because of someone she didn't even know. Ace opens a new tab and hesitates before typing in the search engine. "How to know you like someone" She bites her lip as she waits for her slow wifi to work. The first result is a list that tells someone if they like "him". Ace clicks on it and the first thing it says to do is to write it down.

"Alrighty then," Ace mumbles and grabs a pen and paper.

"I feel like she enjoys my presence but I feel like I annoy her. She makes me smile and feel less like a weirdo. She's very sensitive about what she lets others see and I feel proud that I can see through her facade. She makes me laugh. Her hair reminds me of fire and her personality reminds me of fading embers.

Because she's firey then suddenly she's a fire that's been dowsed in water. Her eyes are so easy to get lost in even though they lack so much emotion because she's so incredibly good at hiding her emotions.

I wish she would give me something other than asking who I am because I don't know. I wish I did so I had something to give her... I want to make her smile because her smile is very beautiful and I love the sound of her laugh. It feels weird to like her since she doesn't seem to like anyone. I am thankful that Rose erased her memories because she doesn't have this fire I have. She had something so terrible she had to forget but I have this woman that makes me so goddamn confused.

I wish she loved me back."

Ace scribbles the last sentence out. She sets the pen down with haste; then grabs the piece of paper and is about to rip it up but a hand grabs her milky wrist. "Nattie-" Natasha is standing behind Ace reading the paper, Ace closes her eyes and feels like crying but doesn't. Natasha sets the paper down, she strokes Ace's hair.

"I'm sorry for prying Crazy..." Ace unintentionally leans into Nat's hand and Natasha smiles down at the woman. Ace was smiling too, but her smile was weak. "I don't know why I want to know who you are but I do. I know I ask you who you are but I don't even know who I am." Natasha walks away from Ace and Ace feels the spot where Natasha's hand was.

Ace wants to say 'It's okay Nattie, you can pry all you want.' But it wasn't fine. If Natasha didn't want anyone to know who she was then why would she try to know who someone else was; after that person said they didn't know multiple times. "Okay." Is all Ace says, she closes her laptop, and stands up.

"How did I get here?"

Ace asks Nat, "I don't know... I've just been trying to gain a new cover and you've been very good at helping me pass the time." Natasha is running her fingers along the painting on the wall.

"Thanks..." Ace mumbles. She didn't like being considered a distraction but if she were to be deemed Natasha Romanoff's distraction then she would be fine with it. Ace fidgets with her shirt hem.

She wanted to say so many things to Natasha.

She wants to ask if it's wrong to feel that way. If it was okay for Ace to have a crush on her, she wants to know if Natasha felt the same. Ace shook her head at herself for these crazy thoughts. She knew the answer to that already, Natasha doesn't feel anything. Natasha is trained to lack emotion and Ace knows that. But she wants to convince the Widow to feel things, for this crazy woman.

"I accept your apology, Nattie." Natasha turns back toward Ace and there's the ghost of a smile on her lips.

"Thank you," Ace's face feels hot as she grabs her jacket from Natasha's outstretched hand and blurts something along the lines of, 'I gotta go, bye!' and she's out the door. Ace didn't know where she was going to go but her bike looked lonely.

She hops on the kickstart and the loud rev of the engine brings a smile to her lips.

Ace loved riding her bike and it always calmed her nerves so she pulled out of the driveway and began making her way toward the city. "Time for some trouble!" She laughs at her thoughts of how to antagonize the cops and speeds down the streets. She's driving way over the speed limit and she cackles at the sight of the surprised cops as they rush to their vehicles.
