Chapter 5: An Old Friend
The Leader
I watched as Bonnie and Charlie looked at each other on the battlefield I had designed. It interchanged between environments so that every Pokémon had a chance to have the advantage.
"Go Dedene!!!" Bonnie cheered, jumping into the air, her left hand stretching up and the right hanging by her side. In her left hand was Dedene's Pokeball, and at the near peak of her jump, she tossed it above her. She looked up at it as the blue flash revealed Dedene waking up from his nap. He yawned, revealing his baby buck teeth.
"STEELIX! CHRUSH OUR OPPONENT!" Charlie cried as he tossed his Pokeball in the default fashion.
ALRIGHT! The massive ground-type Pokémon roared.
"Both battlers ready?" the referee questioned. Both Bonnie and Charlie nodded. "Alright then, BATTLE BEGIN!" he shouted, bringing down his hand.
"Dedene!" Bonnie called. "Use thunder shock!"
The mouse-like Pokémon responded with the shock fired in the Steelix's direction. He roared as the electricity coursed through his body, but I knew he wasn't in any real pain.
"Steelix! Use sandstorm!" (A/N: If this is not one of Steelix's moves, then I apologize, because I have no real idea what moves he might have.) The arena suddenly had a fierce breeze whistling through it. Sand whipped through the air stinging cheeks and dancing through hair. I blinked and bright blue figurines appeared in my vision, replacing people and Pokémon. Steelix's sandstorm blew Dedene to the wall, where he was knocked out.
Time Skip~! (Brought to you by a rose)
"Gogoat is unable to battle! Ghastly wins! Thus Bonnie is the winner of this match!" the referee cried.
"That was awesome Bonnie!" Clemont and Max cheered at the same time. She ran to the group and they embraced her in a hug.
I walked over to the group as they broke apart, knelt in front of Bonnie, and said, "Your name is Bonnie?" She nodded and gave me a big smile. "Do you happen to be the daughter of Meyer, the former gym leader, and the sister of Clemont, the present gym leader?" The inn went silent. Clemont stepped forwards.
"Yes, her name is Bonnie, and I am Clemont the Luminose city gym leader." I reached above me. A neon blue oval of aura appeared above my hand and a Pokeball dropped out of it and into my hand.
"Well, this is for you." I smiled, handing her the Pokeball as the portal closed. I started to walk away, but then I turned back and said, "Oh, and one last thing." I jerked my thumb towards the battle field. "You might want to release him there. Congrats on your win by the way." I walked back to Jimmy and Ritchie. They winked and I grinned.
"Huh?" Bonnie looked at me to the Pokeball. She shrugged and made her way to the battle field. She looked at the Pokeball once more. "Alright! Go Pokeball!" She shouted throwing it in her unique way.
When the Pokémon roared, all conversations stopped to stare at the giant dinosaur-like Pokémon. She gasped in happiness before jumping at the Pokémon.
"Bonnie!!!" Several people cried out, worried for the 13 year old girl. (A/N: I don't think I've mentioned this, but about 4 years have pasted since Ash has died, so Bonnie was 9 when he died.) Tyrantrum let out a roar of joy as he recognized Bonnie he stomped over to her as blew a gust of air at her, making her hair flutter. Bonnie turned to me. "Thank you. Thank you for bringing me my friend!!!" She cried sprinting towards me before flinging her arms around me. Max and Clemont stiffened, muscles tense, ready to leap into action in case Bonnie somehow got hurt, while the Pika Gang stiffened because no one has touched me since she died. I gave her a genuine smile and squeezed her back. She brought me down to her level and whispered, "We're going to talk later about where you've been, Ash." She let go, smiled, and ran back to Max and Clemont. I was frozen like ice, but my mind was on fire. How did she know....
