Chapter 40
× Sting POV ×
My eyes slowly opened, it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to my surroundings and when my eyes opened I smelt a familiar scent. 'Lucy? ' The sight of her made me feel relieved. She was still sound asleep, my arms wrapped around her. I brought her closer to me and breathed, "I'm not sure how I got here but I'm glad I am."
I was about to go back to sleep but I realized I was shirtless. Shirtless. Does that mean she found out? Slowly, I got out of the bed without waking her and walked over to her mirror. I turned around and looked back at the mirror and saw that my wounds were cleaned and some were bandaged. "Oh no.." I quickly put my shirt on that was laying on the floor and walked over to Lucy who was still sleeping peacefully.
"I'll be back Lucy." I kissed her forehead and left her apartment.

I turned on my side expecting to feel Sting laying next to me but he wasn't. My eyes opened and saw that he was gone. But I just assumed he was somewhere else in the house so I sat up and stretched. "Sting?...." I softly called out. No answer. "Sting?" I called out once again but a bit louder. Still, it was quiet. Of course, he left. I should've expected that from him nowadays.
When I was done getting ready I headed over to the guild, hoping Sting was there. But when I opened the guild doors he wasn't there. Of course he wasn't. I got my hopes up for no reason. I sat with the girls and smiled, "Ohayo minna!" They all smiled and greeted me back. "How are you feeling today Lucy?" Erza asked. "Great!" I grinned.

I ran, pushed the door open and was gasping for air. "Oh, you're back huh?" I glanced up at him and rolled my eyes. "I have the money. Now can I have it? I made it in time for the deadline."
"You got 10,000,00 Jewel in a week? Impossible!" he laughed hysterically at me but I threw him the sack of money causing him to look a bit startled. "Whaa.." he gasped peeking in the bag. I shot him a glare, "Jeez, 10,000,000 Jewel your highness. No more, no less." He gave me a reassuring grin and gave me what I wanted. "Just like you asked for. No other place gives that out! Custom made! Haha, enjoy!" he gave a loud hard laugh.
Yet again I rolled my eyes and left feeling tired, irritated but satisfied and proud. "It was enough. It was worth it." I grinned and started heading back to Sabertooth. When I got there I whistled happily to myself and walked over to the bar. "Another beer Sting?" the bartender asked but I shook my head, "Just give me water."
"Water eh? Interesting."
I turned my head slightly and saw Yukino taking a seat next to me. "I haven't seen you sober in awhile huh?" I laughed and shrugged at her. "I guess so. You want anything?" But she shook her head. "You know, Rogue has been worried about you. So was I, but as a friend of course! Not like a girlfriend cause that would be weird since you're getting married and --"
"Okay okay, I get it Yukino." I chuckled. "You know Sting, I just wanted to apologize for my behavior and for everything I did. So I just want us to forget about all this and--"
"Forget about what? What happened?"
Her eyes widened then a smile appeared on her face. "Arigatou Sting."
"Mm. No problem."

"Haha!" I laughed hysterically as me and the girls were talking. "Ne Lucy, when are you gonna marry Sting?" Mira wiggled her eyebrows. My smile faded and my eyes dimmed down, "Hm. I don't know.."
They all glanced at each other than back at me. "You don't know about what? When you're gonna get married or if you still wanna get married?"
I looked away and shrugged. "...both."
"Whatt!!" they screamed in unison. "What happened?" Levy asked, fully concerned. "He seems different." I frowned.
"Different how?"
"He barely comes to see me anymore and he's keeping secrets from me. Last night he came to my apartment totally drunk out of his mind. Then when I woke up this morning he was gone without saying anything."
"Oh come on Lucy. Maybe he's just feeling scared. Marriage is a big commitment."
I thought and smiled. "Yeah... you're right." But I was still unsure.
"Great! Now, let's start on planning the wedding. So Lucy I was thinking about making the decorations all pinkk!" Mira suggested but everyone disagreed.
× Sting POV ×
"You think this is gonna work Rogue?" I questioned and he nodded. "I must admit Sting you had me really worried."
"Ha! Don't worry bro. I'm Sting Eucliffe." I punched his shoulder playfully. "Indeed." he nodded, grinning.
"I'll see you later! I'm gonna go see Lucy." I waved as I left the guild.

When I got to Fairy Tail I looked around for Lucy but couldn't find her. "Mirajane? Wheres Lucy?" she glanced up at me and smiled, "Hi Sting, I'm not sure where she is. She left awhile ago, I think she might've gone home. Although, Lucy didn't seem like herself today..." she trailed off. I sighed, "Probably because of me."
"Oh its not a 'probably.' Its a definitely. She told us everything that has been happening. Come on Sting! You just proposed not to long ago and you're already losing her!"
I began to get really nervous. "Losing her? What do you mean by that?" But she simply shrugged and went back to wiping some glasses with a white rag. "Mira, please tell me what you know."
She was quiet for a couple seconds then sighed. "Natsu and Lucy went out somewhere. He came up to us and whispered something to Lucy and then they left. But all I know is , you better get out there and find them before my wedding plans get ruined!" And by that time I was already running out the doors.
Goddamit Natsu!
I was running around the town looking everywhere. I even ran to her apartment to check if they were in there but they weren't. I checked the market, bakery, church, stores, parks. Everywhere!
Maybe after 2 hours I gave up and sat down on a nearby bench and took a breather. "I'm the worst...."
"Yeah, you really are."
That voice. I watched Natsu take a seat next to me and sighed. "Where the hell is Lucy?"
"Don't worry you idiot. Nothing happened. I just wanted to talk to her about something, that was it."
"What was that something?"
"You."
I was kinda confused. "Me? Why.....OH! Whoaaaa there! Hate to break it to ya' but I'm into girls, and that girl being Lucy." He looked at me then bursted into a fit of laughter. "Oh boy, you really are stupid." Natsu patted me on the shoulder. "Says you."
We sat there in silence for a bit. "She really does love you. I don't know how much times I have to tell you that. You know every time Lucy ever needed me I was always there to help her. I'd give up anything and everything to see her smile and for her to be happy. I still would. But now, she doesn't need me. She needs you. You were there for her in the beginning, with the mark, with the baby and you just kept her happy. What happened Sting? She needs you now and you aren't there. You're busy drowning yourself in booze, getting into fights and making stupid mistakes. Lucy needs you and you're not there. My advice to you, be there for her cause she was always there for you and if you don't, you'll lose her." he exhaled then left. Everything he said was true.
I got up from the bench and started running to the one place I didn't check. When I got to the hill that was overlooking the city I was relieved to see her there. I walked up the hill and huffed, "I've been looking everywhere for you.." I heard her gasp then sigh. "How'd you find me?"
"It took awhile. But I figured I check this place since I knew how much you liked the sunset." I stood next to her. "I'm really sorry Lucy. I am so sorry for always abandoning you nowadays. For drinking and making stupid mistakes and decisions. For making you cry and suffer. I'm sorry that I suck. I just really fucking suck."
I glanced at her and seen her closing her eyes. "You feel that Sting?"
"Uh, no."
"The wind.
Only then did I feel the cool wind blowing against us. "He fell from the sky, and brightened her night. She caught him in her eyes, and absorbed his light. She breathed his stardust, he kissed her story. She became his only wish, he became her only memory." she softly said.
"Lucy...."
"I'm not sure thats what it was but I heard that once before. I thought it was nice, can't believe I still remember." she giggled quietly then looked at me with a saddened grin. "Why do you keep secrets from me Sting?"
"Huh? What secrets?"
"I don't know..... why do you have all those scratches, cuts and bruises on your back? Why are you getting drunk every other day? Why aren't you coming to see me anymore? And..... do you even wanna get married still?"
My eyes widened in shock as tears fell from her face. "Please don't cry Blondie. I hate seeing you cry." She wiped her tears away then giggled. "Blondie? Whatever happened to Lucy?" she sniffled. "Who?" she giggled again. "Their you go. You look most beautiful when you smile."
Lucy smiled then looked away. "Answer me. Answer all my questions Sting. Please."
I sighed. "I was drinking because I felt pressured. I'm so sorry I haven't been coming to see you lately and yes I do wanna marry you still. I want you to be my wife."
"And what about your back?"
Suddenly, I felt nervous. "My back? Oh -- well, uhm, I got into another fight at the bar. Yeah that guy was totally crazy. I took a real bad beating." She looked at me for a bit then nodded. "Mmkay. If you say so."
