CHAPTER TWO

CHAPTER TWO
OBSESSED
"why you so obsessed with me"
˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

"I-I have to go." Cara had exclaimed, making a beeline for the exit. She had completely abounded both Jackson and his essay and the british guy at the table, panic settling in. She was sure she had looked like a maniac running down the street, but she was too freaked out to even care. Myles jumped in his seat when the dark haired girl burst into the apartment they shared. His head reeled around, suprised by her early arrival.

"You're back early. How did it go?" Myles question, not knowing just how badly it had went.

Cara refrained from answering. Instead she rushed into her room, starting to shuffle through the several books propped up in the bookshelf. There's got to be something here that can help me undo this, the Jenkins girl though as her eyes skimmed over the title of the books. Myles hurried after her, watching as she messily hurled book after book across the room. He even had to duck to make sure one of them didn't hit him smack bang in the middle of his forehead.

"What the hell is going on?" He exclaimed, grabbing Cara's hands to stop her from continuing throwing stuff around. "Calm down and tell me what happened to make you this crazy."

Cara shook head, pulling the hair tie out of her ponytail to ease her pounding headache. "You don't understand, I've really messed up this time. Like, really freaking messed up." She said, forcing a hand through her messy hair.

"It can't possibly be that bad. What did you do? Did you have food stuck in your teeth or something? Because that has happened to me on a date before, and it really isn't that big of a deal." Myles rambled, attempting to calm the girl down.

"No, Myles, it's not what I did today. It's what I did yesterday." Myles tilted his head in confusion, not catching what she was saying.

"What are you talking about? What happened yesterday?" Myles asked. "Did you accidentally kill his dog or something?" He joked.

Cara groaned loudly. "This isn't the time for jokes, Myles. I just need to find out how to undo what I've done, okay?" Cara said, returning to searching through her books. She had inherited a ton of old spell books from her grandmother when she had passed, which is where she had found that stupid potion to begin with. Shit, she should've listened to the coven when they warned her that it was a bad idea. Cara just had to undo this before anyone got wind of what she had done, because if the coven found out, they would surely throw her out. And Cara wasn't in a position where she could fend for herself. Not with what Marcel had been doing to the city. She needed the coven.

"Undo what? Cara, what the hell did you do?" Myles demanded to know. Cara took a deep sigh, turning to face the boy. She could trust him.

"Okay. Okay, so I found this spell in one of nana's old books." Cara began, watching relizeation dawn on the boy infront of her. "And-and I made this, uh, potion. I swear I followed the recipe exactly! There is no way I messed that part up, I'm sure of it."

"Cara, what potion did you make?"

Cara averted her gaze, finding the floor much more interesting to stare at. "It was. . . It was a love potion."

     "What?!"

"I swear it wasn't suppose to be this strong! I just slipped one, two drops max, into his coffee and it was suppose to be enough to get his attention!" Cara started explaining.

Myles shook his head in disbelief. "You put a spell on Jackson so that he'd fall in love with you? Cara, out of all the crazy things you've done, this takes the cake. You're clinically insane."

"No, I'm not I was just desperate. And I didn't think it would backfire like this!" Cara sighed.

"You didn't think that an old love potion that you're entire coven warned you about wouldn't backfire? Really?" Myles said, arms crossed over his chest.

"Okay, yes I thought maybe there would be some side effects. But this didn't just backfire. It was straight up instant karma."

"So the issue at hand is that Jackson is completely obsessed with you? I mean, it could have been worse." Myles tried lightening the mood. Cara shook her head, a guilty look clouding her face. "Oh no. What did you do Cara?"

"I might've accidentally given the drink with the potion to the wrong guy—"

"What!?" Myles yelled. "Oh you've really messed up. Big time. Cara you have to tell the coven—"

"What? No!" Cara interrupted. "I can't do that, they'll kill me!"

"You're kidding, right? Cara you have put a love spell on the wrong guy and you're telling me you won't tell the coven about it? Cara you have to." Myles said. On one side, he was right. The coven had a right to know what spells their witches were going around putting on people. And they could help reverse it. But on the other hand the coven would punish her big time for this.

"Myles just let me deal with it myself. I found the spell in one of nana's books, and I'm sure it's reversible. Everything I need to know—" Cara paused, waving a book in the air. "— is right here. I just need to find out how to fix it before anyone finds out what I've done. It's no big deal, I'm going to make this right again."

"Yeah, I hope you're right, C, because if you're not, the coven is the least of your problems." Cara ran a hand over her face. Her time to fix this was running out. She had forgotten one little detail before setting this plan of hers into motion. Marcel had a way of knowing whenever any of the witches in the french quarter performed magic without his permission, and it was only a matter of time before he'd know about what she has done. Shit, shit, shit.

"Is the guy at least hot?"

After hours of flipping through books, Cara was exhausted. And for every second thst passed, the fear of being caught made her grew in the very pit of her stomach. She wanted to throw up, scream and cry. Myles, in typical Myles fashion, kept making lame jokes and comments here and there to help keep the mood up, but he was failing miserably at it. What he did succeed doing was getting on Cara's every last nerve. So much so that at one point she considered telling the coven herself so that she'd free herself from his annoying and constant banter.

"I didn't really have time to check him out considering the circumstances." Cara replied, tossing yet another book aside. "God, this is completely useless. I'm never finding out how to reverse the spell, and am no stuck with some British guy till I die. I just have to lie, say it was love at first sight and marry him. That's the only solution."

"He's British?! Oh honey you did not tell me that. That makes this all ten times better. Love at first sight between you and some blonde guy? Eh. But love at first sight with you and some dark haired British guy? Now that is believable. You'll just lie and tell everyone that the accent reeled you in the second you heard it." Myles gushed. He had a thing for accents.

"This is serious, I'm literally screwed." Cara loudly sighed, hiding her face in her hands.

"Well, getting screwed by a hot guy with an accent is really not that bad—"

"Myles!" Cara warned, shutting him up. The Dooley boy put his hands up in defense, retreating back into the corner of Cara's room. She rubbed her temples in an attempt to ease her mind, trying her best to remember if she had seen anything like the love potions in any other books. God, her brain felt at mushy and fried. There was no way she was finding a solution to her problem tonight. Luckily for her, the coven wasn't hot on her trail quite yet. But someone unfortunately was. . .

Cara and Myles fell silent upon hearing the knocking echoing through their small apartment. The two shared a frightened look as they tried their best to figure out who could possibly be at the door. Maybe it was Marcel finally there to put Cara out of the misery she had put upon herself, or maybe it was someone else and the pair had nothing to worry about. There was only one was to find out.

The Jenkins girl daringly walked to the front door. Her hand fell on the door knob, and with one deep breath the pulled the door open. Her mouth fell open at the man standing infront of her. It was him. Dressed in the same suit from earlier and with a charming grin on display. His hands were stuffed in the pockets of his pants as he leaned against the doorframe. Out of instinct, Cara went to throw the door shut, but before she could, he blocked the door with his foot.

"Ouch." He said jokingly, forcing her to keep the door cracked open.

"What are you doing here and how do you know where I live." Cara rushed out, wide eyes staring at the man. Myles had crept up to the door himself, listening intently from behind.

"I'm sorry for the intrusion, and for what happened at the small coffee shop. I apologize if I've been to forward, I am usually not as. . . vulgar with my doings. But as mentioned, I can not stop thinking about you. I just had to see you again." The man explained. "Oh, pardon me for not introducing myself. I'm Elijah, Elijah Mikealson."

Cara wasn't even sure how it was possible, but the revelation of his name just made the situation ten times worse than it already was. He was Elijah Mikealson, one out of several other siblings in the Mikealson family. Also known as the originals, the original vampires. Cara wasn't even sure if the Mikealson's were a myth or actually existed, but Elijah here confirmed all the stories she had heard of the vicious vampires and just how powerful they were. In fact, years back they controlled the streets of New Orleans with an iron fist, just like the way Marcel was doing now.

"Are you not going to say anything?" Elijah questioned, pulling the girl out of her train of thought. Cara shook her head. She was completely speechless. How had she managed to screw things up this bad? "Can I at least have your name?"

Before Cara could refuse, Myles threw the door open, grinning widely at Elijah. "Her name is Cara Jenkins, and she is very pleased to meet you." Cara stared at the Dooley boy in disbelief.

"I am very pleased to make her acquaintance as well. And you are?"

Grinning viciously, Myles introduced himself. "Myles Dooley, her best friend and wingman."

"Myles can't I speak with you for a moment? Alone?" Cara strictly demanded, glaring at him.

"Don't be rude to our guest here—"

"We'll only be a moment, excuse us." Cara interrupted, throwing the door shut. She turned to face Myles. "What the hell are you doing? I need to keep as much distance from this situation as possible till I figure out how to deal with it, alright?"

"The most handsome looking guy I have ever seen is standing at our doorstep because he wants to see you. You know you're allowed to have fun with this, right? I mean, the mistake has already been made. Why not have some fun with it while you can?" Myles suggested. "And besides, I think you should keep close to him to make sure he doesn't say or do something he shouldn't. You know, keep an eye on the situation."

"It's not right. And it's not real. I'm going to make it clear to him that I'm not interested. Maybe that'll help him relent. Now please go to your room or something so I can handle this on my own." Cara instructed.

"Fine, mom, but I'm telling you, you're going to regret this." Myles said, retreating to his room. Cara let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. Taking a moment to recollect herself, she opened the door. Surprisingly, Elijah was patiently waiting.

"I'm sorry but—"

"Let me take you out." He immediately interrupted Cara. He had listened in to their conversation, and he was convinced that he was going to get her to go out with him. She just needed a little persuasion.

"Look, I'm sorry but I'm not really looking for anything romantic right now." Cara excused.

"Then we'll go out as friends." He replied. "There's something about you that I can't quiet put my finger on. But something between us is pulling me towards you, and I want to explore what this pull is. We don't need to jump into anything straight away, but please just give it a shot. I'll make it worth you're while."

With Myles' words echoing in the back of her head, Cara made yet another mistake. She just didn't know it yet.
