Chapter One

Alex

Ever since I can remember, I've been told never to trust a demon. I've been told that they're evil. I've been told that we, the angels, are supposed to be enemies with the demons. I used to wonder if an angel had ever fallen in love with a demon before.

I am a 17 year old angel. My name is Alex. I go to school at Littlewood High School .I'm new to the school. It's the middle of the school year.

I walked into the school and looked around. Tons of people filled the hallways. The floors were red and blue. The lockers were a pattern of red, yellow, orange, then blue. I went up to a pretty girl with black hair, fair skin, and piercing green eyes. Freckles were splashed across her face.

"Excuse me," I said. "Do you know where the office is? I'm new here."

She opened her mouth to say something, but she was cut off by yelling.

"Brendon!!!" I heard a loud female voice say.

I saw a male coming towards us. He was tall and muscular. His hair was an amazing mix of black and red. He was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and a black leather jacket.

"Hey, Callie," the guy said as he got to us. He looked about my age. "Who's the guy?" He nodded towards me.

"Oh, he's new. He wanted to know where the office was."

The guy smirked.

"So," the girl said, turning to me, "what's your name?"

"Alex."

"Okay. Cool. Alex, I'm Callie. This is Brendon."

"Brendon!!" I saw a man with silver hair and wrinkles coming towards us. "Office! Now!!"

Brendon smirked.

"Alex, you can follow me to the office."

I followed Brendon down the halls until we reached a door labeled in bold letters OFFICE.

Brendon walked in and I followed.

Inside there was a desk piled with papers in the far right corner. There were a few more doors along the walls. One door was open, but I couldn't see inside because it was out of eye shot.

"Let's me guess," I heard a voice call. "Brendon Muller?"

"Yep!" Brendon said, popping the 'p.' "And I brought someone with me!"

A tall bald guy walked out of the room that had its door open. He looked friendly.

"Hello," he said to me. "I'm the principal, Mr. Bruno. I see you've met the school trouble maker. Some would say he's like a demon."

Brendon laughed. Woah, he had an awesome laugh. Shut up, Alex. You're supposed to be straight.

"You never know, maybe I am a demon."

Brendon smirked at me.

Wait, was he really a demon?

"Brendon, you know the drill. Get in there and we'll have a talk later."

Brendon walked into the room that Mr. Bruno had come out of, after winking at me.

Mr. Bruno sighed.

"He is such a handful. So, what do you need?"

"I'm new here. My name's Alex Pan."

"Ah, yes. Mr. Pan. I have your schedule right over here."

Mr. Bruno went over to the desk and looked around in the papers.

"Ah! Here it is!"

He handed me the paper.

"So, Mr. Douglas teaches two classes?" I asked.

"No, there are two of them and they're married."

"They're gay?"

"Yes."

"Okay."

"I'll write you a note and then you can get off to class."

Mr. Bruno got a sticky note, wrote on it, gave it to me, and sent me off to class.

I wandered around the halls looking for room 209.

I found it and walked in.

"Hello," the teacher said. "What do you need?"

"I'm new here and it says this is my first class."

"Alright. Take a seat."

I took an empty seat in the back of the class.

*LUNCH TIME*

I sat down at a table no one was at with my food tray.

I began eating my broccoli when someone sat down in front of me.

"Hey. Alex, was it?"

"Yeah. Callie, right?"

Callie nodded.

"What's up?" Callie asked.

"Nothing much. Just eating my broccoli."
(AN Seriously? No one was gonna tell me it said earing instead of eating)

"You like the school so far?"

"Eh, I guess. Brendon seems cool. You do too."

"Well, if you wanted to ask him out, he's gay and single," Callie told me with a smirk.

"What?! I'm not gonna ask him out. Why would you think that? What would make you think that?"

"I saw the way you looked at him. You think he's hot."

"What?! I do not think he's hot!"

"Awww, that hurts my feelings," Brendon said with a hurt look, sitting down beside me.

"Brendon! Hi! Fancy seeing you here! What a surprise!" I exclaimed quickly.

"Well, I mean, we do go to the same school, that we are in right now. I mean, there's no reason at all you'd see me here," Brendon told me sarcastically.

I pouted and ate a carrot.

"Shut up," I mumbled.

Brendon laughed.

"That's rude. You'd think that for an angel, you'd be nicer."

"Huh?"

"I saw your reflection in the windows in the office," Brendon replied casually.

"And you just say it here at the lunch table around other people? Wait, only angels and demons can see true reflections. What are you?"

He flashed me a smirk.

"Take a guess, love."

I saw a flame flicker in his beautiful green eyes. Woah. I think my heart just skipped a beat. Stop it, Alex.

"Demon?" I questioned.

He nodded.

"What about her?" I asked, pointing to Callie.

"She's my sister."

"Okay.."

I had to leave. I couldn't be hanging out with demons. I had to leave now.

But I couldn't.

I couldn't leave.

I couldn't move.

I couldn't help it.

I just felt a click.

The first time I saw him, I felt something.

I don't know what it was, but it was something.

I knew that if my parents found out they would kill me.

But I didn't care.

I stayed.

I sat and ate with the two demons before me.

Brendon would occasionally lean over and "accidentally" touch me.

After lunch, the day continued.

Brendon stayed on my mind.

I found that I had most classes with him, but he skipped a lot, so I didn't see him.

I wanted to see him.

What was I thinking? I couldn't be friends with a demon, let alone wish to see it.

Yeah. I said "it".

I couldn't do this.

I had to avoid him- it- at all costs.

This was going to be hard.
