Blue Fire

No one's POV: (except my own)

Marinette stared at her phone's screen, reading the same text over and over again.

Hey. Have a shoot today. Care to watch? I think my princess will enjoy it *insert lenny face*

Obviously it was from Adrien. Damn that bastard, Marinette thought, I thought I told him to not show up in front of me until he got his life straight. And it had only been a night since she told him this. Surely, everything wasn't fixed in so little time.

I thought I told you to stay away from me until you got your game together. She texted him furiously.

Uh-uh-uh. You said not to show up in front of you. I'm not doing anything of the sort, I'm miles away from you right now.

"You know what I meant," Marinette hissed under her breath, setting her phone down. She sighed, head aching and still worried about some things. She knew it wasn't really something she should worry about, but she couldn't help it.

She knew how to get answers, but her pride didn't approve of the method. However, the anxiety would drive her insane if she didn't set her pride aside.

She grabbed her phone and opened her texts to Luka quickly, as if trying to do it before she changed her mind.

What happened to Evelyn?

After waiting a few minutes for a response, she gave up and decided to go out. Yes, to Adrien's photo shoot.

It's not like she wanted to see him, it was just that she was curious...um, about the process of modeling. And how it was like. Yeah, that was it. She was just curious and bored, with nothing better to do.

She changed her clothes and headed out. Adrien texted her the address, in case she changed her mind. Which she had.

When she reached the location, she couldn't see Adrien. Perhaps the idiot is late, Marinette thought.

Instead she saw a few other models. Female ones, at that. The thought made her stomach churn, but she shoved it aside. Then, she noticed one in particular. In fact, she probably wasn't the only one who noticed that this one was different.

At first, Marinette couldn't put her finger on what it was that made her stand out. Then it came to her.

It was her eyes. The girl's beautiful blue eyes. They were different than Marinette's bluebell eyes. Marinette's eyes were more calm. They were more mysterious and intriguing.

They were often referred to as oceanic.

But these eyes had a different glow. It had a glint of excitement and glee, of ecstasy and pride, of happiness and radiance.

The girl lit up a whole room with those simple eyes.

Marinette watched as she skipped from person to person, making small talk and giggling. Each person she spoke to seemed to enjoy their conversation of small talk much more than they should. Soon, Marinette realized she was staring and quickly turned away.

She wasn't staring because of the magnificent aura that surrounded this woman, which she would admit existed, but she was staring because....those eyes...

Seemed to almost challenge her.

Marinette shook her head furiously for having such a thought. She usually avoided those kinds of people who are bubbly and chatty, but she didn't know this girl, so she had no right to make enemies with her already.

Until she heard her name.

"Evelyn! " A photographer called. "Your up next!"

"Coming!" she chirped.

Marinette's jaw dropped.

No.

No, no, no, no, no.

No. It wasn't the same one. There was no way. It wasn't possible.

She looked so different. But those eyes, those eyes she would never forget.

Those eyes were like blue fire. The extremely hot kind. The kind that was dangerous but couldn't keep you from staring as the mesmerizing flames lashed and sputtered at the air.

Marinette gulped, her body trembling. It was coming back, it was all coming back. The nights of crying. The days of attempted suicide. The blood. The pain. The monster that grew inside of her and destroyed her.

Piece by piece.

Marinette glanced around, looking at anything else but Evelyn. Trying to pry her eyes off her, her mind off the memories.

"Excuse me, miss." Someone said from next to her. "We're holding a photo shoot here. You're not permitted to be here unless you're a guest of one of our models. Apologies."

Marinette forced a weary smile. "No, don't worry about it. Actually, I was just about to leave-"

"Who gave you permission to leave?" A familiar male voice said as an arm looped around her shoulder. "Sir, she's my guest."

The man nodded and left.

"Come on, you came all the way here, why leave now?" Adrien grinned.

"Personal reasons." Marinette shot a glare at him as she wriggled out of his arm. She turned to leave, but Adrien grabbed by the waist and sat her down into a chair, earning a small yelp from her.

"There's a reason I asked you here." he continued. "I wanted to introduce you to someone."

"Who?"

"Wait till she's off set," Adrien responded. Marinette frowned, because of two things. The use of the word "she" and because the only person on set was Eveyln.

"Do you mean E-I mean, the girl with the long blonde hair?"

"Yeah, her." Adrien smiled, seeming to be proud of something.

Marinette felt a sudden urge to vomit.

"Adrien, I need to go." she said.

"Nope, your not going anywhere."

"No, you don't understand. I-"

"No."

"Please, Adrien." Marinette felt a lump in her throat. No, she hissed to herself, you do not get to cry. Only the weak cry. Stay strong, don't let her conquer you like this.

"Marinette?" Adrien asked. "Are you okay? You look-"

Suddenly, someone looped their arms around Adrien's neck from the backside. "Adrien! You're finally here, silly! Late as always, I see."

Adrien's face lit up, forgetting all about Marinette's traumatic conditions. "Evelyn, it's been so long! You look stunning!"

"Yeah, wish I could say the same about you!" Evelyn giggled, poking Adrien in the cheek.

Adrien smirked, rolling his eyes. "If only they could photo shop some chest onto you, everything would be almost decent."

"Oh, come on, gimme a break!" Evelyn laughed, putting her hands on her hips.

Marinette glanced between them. Back and forth, back and forth. She wasn't looking at them, precisely, but looking at how they acted. Evelyn, the usual devil with an angel's halo. And Adrien, the one she knew. The jovial, teasing, lighthearted Adrien.

She felt like throwing up again. It didn't matter if this Evelyn wasn't the same one, but she reminded Marinette of her, and that was all it took to send Marinette into a frenzy.

"Marinette, I'd like you to meet Evelyn. We met about  a year ago in America for a shoot. That was your debut, wasn't it?"

"It sure was! Adrien and I have been in touch ever since then! We're pracitcally best friends."

I see. So there's no "nice to meet you, Marinette"? Marinette thought dryly. And she questioned what they meant by "best friends".

When Marinette didn't respond, Evelyn did for her.

"Don't worry about formalities, Adrien. Marinette and I have already met before. We were classmates in school, weren't we, Marinette?" She smiled innocently, but Marinette saw right through it all.

"I'll be leaving now," Marinette's eyes were cold and fierce, but she didn't mean to be rude. They just sent off that digusted look. "It was nice to see you, Evelyn." she murmured. "Again."

As she walked off, Adrien watched her go, and turned to Evelyn.

"You don't think I've offended her in some way, right?" She asked.

"No, no." Adrien waved a hand of dismissal. "You could never offend anyone, even if you tried. She's always like this, the moody type. She's simply in a rough mood today. That's all."

All though he was talking to Evelyn, it seemed like Adrien was trying to convince himself that his words were true.

Well. 1300 words. Yay. Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
