Sudha was elated when she saw how happy and excited shyam was with her acceptance. She informed him of the day they would be going for an interview and shyam immediately accepted without a pause.

" Maa sudha and I will be going to town on Thursday for an interview. I think sudha will be joining in the job soon " shyam informed Devamma during breakfast.

" That's great news shyam. Congratulations sudha. You will prove yourself. I am so happy for you " Devamma said with a smile. Later sudha went to Aabida's home to spend some time. Her husband was already gone so she was alone as usual.

" Sudha child. Heard that you applied for a job? What happened? " Aabida asked cleaning the kitchen.

" Yes aunty I did apply and I will go for an interview on Thursday " sudha replied.

" Good. And what is that job you applied for? " Aabida asked curiously wanting to know.

" It's for an editor and story writing job in the local newspaper " sudha replied excitedly reminiscing all her past stories she had written.

Aabida tried to think what that meant as she don't know what that actually means. She is an illiterate and she never ever showed any interest in education although her husband tried.

" Honestly speaking I don't know what that means sudha " Aabida said after washing her hands and sitting beside sudha.

" Oh so you don't know to read and write? " Sudha asked to which she nodded her head.

" Do not worry aunty. I will help you read and write " sudha said clapping her hands in excitement.

" Oh please no sudha. Already my husband failed terribly trying to make me educate. So it is better if you just let me be " Aabida said and burst into laughter.

" It means you cannot read what I write in the newspaper then? " Sudha said little upset.

" Oh don't be upset child. What if I cannot read! You are here to read me. Are you not? " Aabida said placing her hand on her shoulder to which sudha nodded her head.

......

Radha was laying in bed as she had been throwing up whole day. She was feeling very tired and unwell so she thought of taking a little nap.

" Radha what's wrong? " Zamindar sahab's wife asked standing in the doorway.

" Maaji, I am tired let me sleep for a while " Radha said getting up a little.

" No first you eat and then sleep or else your papa ji will get angry with me " she said referring to her husband who ordered her to take care of Radha who was pregnant.

" No maaji. I will tell papaji about my situation. Please you go ahead and eat. I will eat later on " Radha said and closed her eyes as she was feeling very drowsy and fatigue.

" No you cannot sleep like that " saying so she went near Radha and pulled her up holding her hand. Radha jerked with fear due to sudden pull. She made her stand up forcefully and took her to the dining room. Radha protested wanting to lay down but she didn't pay heed.

" Please maaji. Let me sleep " Radha cried.

" What please? You are bearing the first child and acting like a queen. I am at least asking you to eat and you do this drama? My mother in law never took care of me but I am trying to feed you. Don't pretend like I made a mistake here " she angrily shouted at her making Radha scare. She sat down immediately to eat. She ate all the food she was served although her eyes were filling with tears.

" Good now go and sleep " she said sarcastically to which radha nodded and went to her room. She wanted to throw up but she swallowed fearing that her mother in law will again shout at her. She laid in bed but all she felt was uneasiness.

" Radha, how are you feeling? " Kishore asked after he came back from work. He saw how she was throwing up whole day and did not want to leave her alone. But the work was urgent and he cannot ignore it.

" I want...... " Radha was about to say but the bile rose in her tummy making her run towards the washroom. She emptied her stomach completely and was about to lose control. Kishore held her back and helped her clean up. Radha tiredly laid her head on his shoulder and dozed off. He carried her to bed and made her sleep.

Later on he got to know how his mother forced her to eat eventhough she was not willing to eat. He sighed knowing it was time to take some step away from this drama.

" Papa I need to talk to you " kishore said to his father, zamindar sahab.

" What is it kishore? " Zamindar sahab asked placing the file on the table.

" Papa I am planning to shift to the paternal house in the town " kishore said.

" But why son? Radha is pregnant and it is safe for her to stay here under everyone's guidance rather than alone in that house " zamindar sahab said looking at his son.

" It's not like that papa. I just want my baby to be born in dadaji's house. I believe he will be very happy and bless our child. And moreover dadi is staying there. She will take care of Radha " kishore said cautiously not wanting to reveal the fact that his mother is not being normal towards his wife.

" I am happy to hear that son. I will inform maa about your stay there. She will make the necessary arrangements meanwhile you can start packing " zamindar sahab replied. Kishore sighed in relieft that his father bought his words and agreed or else he would have been in trouble.

" Radha we will be going to dadi's home soon. So pack everything once and for all. She will take care of you " kishore said to Radha and she looked puzzled.

" But why suddenly? We are good here right? I am not offending but still I want to know the reason " Radha said.

" I heard what happened in the afternoon and I don't want that to happen again. I want you and the baby to be happy and stress free and I believe you will stay peaceful there " kishore said placing his hand in Radha's hand. Radha stayed silent for a moment.

" And do you think your dadi will be alright with us staying there? " She asked.

" Radha, you don't know about my dadi. She is the coolest person in our family. She had been insisting me to come there for a long time but I denied but now that you are pregnant she will be delighted to have us with her " kishore replied making Radha smile. She was happy that she do not have to deal with her mother in law who seemed to have problem with her no matter what.

......

As planned, on Thursday sudha and shyam got ready to leave. They both took blessings from Devamma and started their journey in their cart.

" Are you ready sudha? " Shyam asked excitedly.

" I am but I am a little nervous " she replied looking down.

" Hey do not worry. Everything will be alright " he said and continued the journey.

They reached the destination and she became nervous again standing outside the office. She kept rubbing her sweat and playing with her fingers which was very unlike her.

" What's wrong sudha? " Shyam asked.

" I don't know " she replied pressing her lips together.

" Sudha just remember I am here with you and you will be definitely selected. And if you are not selected also don't worry. We will try somewhere else. Okay? " Shyam said assuring her. Sudha nodded although her heart beat increased with each step she took inside.

Shyam stood outside the office while sudha went inside with required documents and turned one last time towards shyam who smiled with a thumps up.

Nearly forty minutes later sudha emerged out of the office and shyam immediately got up from his seat.

" Sudha are you alright? " He asked when he saw sudha all silent and expressionless. She didn't reply anything and kept looking at him.

" Don't take it seriously sudha. As I said even if you couldn't make it we can try.... " Shyam was saying when sudha cut him off.

" I am in " she said making him stop talking.

" What? " He asked again to which she nodded positively with a smile and he was about to hug her when she moved back. Shyam looked around and saw how people were moving here and there and doing their work. He understood it was inappropriate for him to hug her so he took her away from there.

Shyam hugged her as soon as they stood in an isolated place and sudha's eyes filled with tears. She never imagined that her career will restart after marriage but to her surprise it was her husband who was supporting her throughout.

Both of them went home happily and shyam departed as he had work at the field.

First of all sorry for the delay guys. I was quite busy.
Few people asked me if the story is ending soon? And the answer is a big yes. It will end soon. I planned few chapters and we will have to say good bye to these people 🥺🥺
