10 ~ present
You watched the snow fall outside. You were just sitting on the couch in the living room. Everyone was decorating the manor with Christmas decoration.
'Oh look at this.' Narcissa smiled.
She grabbed a piece of decoration with a moving picture of tiny Draco in it. You never knew that a Malfoy could be that cute.
'Give that a nice place.'
She handed it to Draco who put it away. You watched him for a moment. You wanted to help decorate but your mother sent you away. When Draco turned around you quickly looked away.
Narcissa reached into one of the boxes which your mother put away because it was empty.
'You missed one.' Narcissa said.
Your parents looked at her. She wiped off some dust of the thing she was holding.
'Oh look at that. How cute.' She smiled. 'How old are you here?' Narcissa asked you.
You looked up. She walked over to you and showed it.
'Six.. seven maybe.' You said.
You hadn't seen that in ages.
'Draco, put that next to yours.'
Draco walked over to you two. You refused to look at him. Draco grabbed it and walked back to put it away. Your parents clearly weren't happy with it. Narcissa had been trying to improve the relationship between you and rest but that wasn't really working.
Draco looked at it for a moment. Nik's picture was also there. All the kids were up there. It was weird to see it again. It had been out of that box for several years.
You watched your parents and the Malfoys putting down the presents neat the fireplace. You were hoping that there was at least one for you there.
Draco watched you look at it. You looked away and got up. You walked back towards the window to look at the beautiful view.
'Why don't you take a break, Draco?' Narcissa said.
'Sure.' He said.
You decided you wanted to go outside. You put on your coat and shoes and walked towards the backdoor. As soon as you opened it a cold breeze blew through your hair.
You closed the door behind you and walked through the snow covered garden. Draco decided to follow you. He had to try to just get you to say something to him.
He followed your footsteps. He saw you standing a bit further in the garden, wiping some snow of a bench. You sat down and took a deep breath. You looked at the ground and moved your foot through the snow.
'You know you can't avoid or ignore me forever, right?'
You really didn't want this right now. You sighed and rolled your eyes. At least he got a reaction.
'Especially not when you're celebrating Christmas here.'
You got up and wanted to walk away but Draco pushed you back onto the bench. You looked up at him with a deadly glare.. but you still didn't speak.
'Y/N, I'm serious. It was one silly comment. Are you seriously being like this because of one comment?'
The fact that he just wanted to forget it never happened showed how much he didn't care. He didn't care at all.. and all that that did to you was hurt you more. You wanted it to stop. He just had to leave you alone.
'Fine, don't talk to me. I don't care.'
You so badly wanted to answer but you didn't. You were biting the inside of your cheek to stay quiet. Draco stuffed his hands in his pocket and looked at you.
You looked back up at him. The snow was really complimenting his look. You didn't want to think that but you did.
'Listen to me, Y/N, you're not making your life any easier by being like this. In this world you need to be able to take certain things.'
Draco literally tried everything to get you to talk. Apologising was the last thing he would ever do. He walked away from you. You watched him leave and sighed.
~
You stared at everyone opening their presents. You were a bit further away from them, just watching the scene. There were almost no presents left and you didn't get a single one.
It surprised you. Normally you got like one tiny gift. It always made you happy because at least they thought about you.. It didn't seem to be that way this year.
Draco looked at you. You still hadn't talked to him since the fight. As soon as he walked into a room you left. As soon as you entered a room with him in it while you didn't necessarily have to be in the room, you left. You completely ignored him. You still completely ignored him. It made him feel even worse.
'That was it. I hope you guys are happy.' Narcissa smiled.
You stared at the empty floor around you. Your brother was surrounded by gifts and so was Draco. Narcissa looked at you. She was doubting whether or not she had to buy you something but your mother told her not to. She said she had it covered.
While they expressed their gratitude you just got up and left. You couldn't take it anymore. You just felt so much pain all the time. You never expressed it because no one would care. Now it was all too much. You felt the tears roll down your cheeks as you made your way towards the stairs.
Draco heard your tiny sobs. He got up and walked towards the stairs. He heard you door close. You then finally allowed yourself to just break down for a moment. Not for long. No one could know. You just had to for a few seconds.
You managed to get yourself to stop crying moments later. You just sat down on your bed and stared at the wall. You just wanted to be accepted. You just wanted to belong to their family. Why couldn't you? You were still a Y/L.. just in a different situation. That's all.
You were trapped in your thoughts but got dragged out when something landed besides you. You looked at it, it was a tiny squared object. It was wrapped.
You looked up. Draco was standing in your doorpost. He was leaning against the side of it. He tilted his head towards the gift, signing to you that you had to open it.
You grabbed it. You were honestly just expecting some sort of joke. You were preparing yourself for the worse. Inside was a tiny jewellery box. You opened it and saw a fancy bracelet.
'I had it laying around for my mum's birthday.. but I thought you needed It more than she does. I'll get her something else.'
'Is this your way of apologising to me?' You asked.
You looked up at him, knowing that it was still visible that you cried just moments ago. Draco smiled when you finally talked to him again.
'I guess you can say that.' He said. 'Happy Christmas.' He then smiled.
His smile made you smile. Draco never apologised. He was too proud for that.
'Malfoy.' You said while he turned around.
He stopped.
'I saw you reading the alchemy book I was reading.' You said. 'Isn't that a bit lame?' You asked.
Draco smiled.
'Are you using my own words against me?' He asked while turning around.
'Maybe.' You said with a tiny smile.
'It actually seemed pretty interesting to me. It suits me.' He said. 'So thank you.'
Your smile grew a little wider.
'I should be the one to thank you. It's gorgeous.'
'You shouldn't be. I was a jerk.' He said.
You grabbed the bracelet out of the box.
'Will you help me put it on?' You asked.
Draco approached your bed. His hands were in his pockets like he was a little shy. He sat down besides you and grabbed it. You held up your arm so he could put on your bracelet.
You looked at his face. He was truly gorgeous. You couldn't help yourself thinking that. It was pretty obvious to you now. How could you have possibly fallen for someone who had always been such an ass to you? It was a mystery.
Draco looked up. His eyes met yours. You quickly looked away. He smiled a little. What you thought about him, he also thought about you. He let the bracelet go. You looked back at him.
'Thank you.' You smiled.
'No problem.'
You two just sat there for a moment. He then got up.
'I-I'll see you later.' He said.
'Yeah.. Yeah you will.' You said while you watched him leave.
