Lena pov- 

'LEANNA MARIE! YOU BETTER GET UP!"          

From downstairs, my mother yells. As I flopped over and moan, I glance at my phone. The time is 6.55 a.m. As I massage my eyes, I sigh. I do not enjoy the mornings. Since today is my first day of school, I particularly dislike having to get out of bed. I've got to senior year.I feel like it has taken a long time, yet I'm ready for it to be done with it. When I wasn't working or applying to colleges over the summer. I love my mother and hate to leave her, but this town is awful, and I can't wait to get away from it.

After my father passed away, my mother raised me all by herself. Since he died when I was five years old, I don't really remember him, but my mother claims that I was his entire world and that he would risk his life to protect me. said the time of my birth was the happiest she had ever witnessed him. I wish he was still alive or that I could recall more about him. I wonder how things would have been if he had been here.

My mother did get remarried, but it wasn't until I was 14 years old, and Freddie has been wonderful. In addition to teaching me how to paint, he also taught me how to drive. Even during my first heartbreak, he was there for me when I needed him. Even though my father isn't present, I'm happy Freddie is.

I get out of bed, open my dresser, and put on a pair of black jeans with small tears in them before slipping on a red crop top sweater with two white stripes, one on each arm. I get my bag, head downstairs, put my hair up in a messy bun, put my shoes on, and grab my purse. Breakfast is currently being eaten at the table by Mom and Freddie.

“ There she is glad to see you are alive.” my mom jokes and I roll my eyes.

“ Yes I'm up, it does not take that long to get ready and the school is like 10 minutes away if that.” I grab my car keys and my mom smiles at me and shakes her head. 

"My little girl is a senior, and I can't believe it. When did that happen? She hugs me, and I slowly back away.

 “Okay Mom I have to go now remember I won't be home for dinner I have work.” she nods and I head for the door as she and Freddie both yell out.

“ Have a great day Lena!!” 

I leave for school, and as soon as I get there, I unload my belongings into my locker. Everyone is hugging and talking about their summertime getaways in the crowded halls. As a result of taking additional classes the previous year, I just have to attend school for half a day this year. I leave school at 12.30. Jamie, my best friend, was not where I expected her to be, so I shut my locker and jumped a mile. She holds me tightly and exclaims, 

"Girl, we did it! We are seniors!"

It's simply too early in the morning for someone to be this cheerful, so I whisper to her.

“Jamie too early in the morning to be this happy.” She laughs and pushes me playfully.

 “ oh come on Lena you love me and you know it.” She is right. I will always do anything for her. She has been my best friend since 2nd grade. We have been through a lot together. We are like sisters. 

“ you are right I do”  I slip my book into my bag as she grins.

“ Did you hear we got a new student this year? I shrug.

 "No I didn't hear that surprisingly where is he from?" I ask. 

“Like 2 towns over or something like that his name is Theo and he is a senior he is super hot !!”. She sounds all excited and I just laugh. 

" Well Jamie guess the only way to find out Is if you meet him huh ? " she rolls her eyes as we walk to class. We walk in and I take my normal seat in the back pulling out my notebook. 

It is way too early for me to want to be up, so I yawn as I glance out the window. The teacher is standing in front of the class when the bell sounds. I'm still dozing off as I gaze out the window at the darkening sky and approaching clouds.

"Okay class, welcome back from summer break. I hope you all had a good break, but before we start class, I wanna introduce a new student Theo." When I look up, I see a man who is easily 6 feet tall, with dark brown hair, emerald green eyes, and occasionally, when the sun is shining just right, a trace of hazel. I feel like I can't breathe when we lock eyes. I quickly glance away as my face becomes quite bright red.                                               

Theo pov-

My alarm sounds. I moan and turn over, grabbing a black hoodie and a pair of jeans. Since it's just for school, I don't care what I wear. There is no one I have to win over. I take my keys and go to class. When I arrive, I enter the office, take my schedule, and wander around. I locate my first class and enter the room as the teacher is speaking. I take a few moment to glance around. I quickly shake my head and take a seat after locking eyes with a girl who has lovely golden brown hair and bright blue eyes.

The teacher discusses the assignments we will complete this semester. I keep giving her sidelong glances. When the bell sounds, I watch her dash out the door as I try to catch up with her. She pauses when I put my hand on her shoulder, and her face becomes a sweet shade of red.

"Hello, I'm Theo," She looks down, then back up at me as I jitterily rub the back of my neck.

''I'm Lena, and it's nice to meet you, Theo. I nervously nip at my lip.''

 "Well, as you have heard, the teacher is new here, and I was wondering if you know where room 321 is," she knows.

Just follow me, and I'll take you there, she replied.

I nod as she smiles and move to follow her. Being the new kid wasn't going to be difficult enough for me, but I'm also a senior, which makes it even more difficult because everyone has already formed their friend groups, although Lena looks pleasant. It would be wonderful to have at least one person to chat to, so hopefully I can get to know her a little better.
