Chapter 7 - Knight in shining armor
I make my way through the busy corridors, trying to find my Math classroom. Why am I so short? I can barely see the numbers of the doors with these many people blocking my view.
As I look down to re-check my classroom number again on my schedule, I bump into a hard surface. I let out an "Oof" but before I can fall on my but, two hands grab tightly onto my shoulders. I look up and freeze. Standing in front of me is the captain of the lacrosse team a.k.a one of my biggest bullies. Cole.
"Well, well, well... Look what we have here. I gotta say, for a freak you got a nice body. Wanna share?" he says, lust burning in his eyes as he rakes me up and down, his gaze lingering on my naked legs. I try to get away from him, but his hold on my shoulders tightens painfully, making me release a whimper. Students look at us but do nothing to intervene. The girls smirk at the scene, jealousy getting the best of them, while the guys are too afraid to go against one of the most popular people in the school.
"Ohh where are you going? Don't you wanna have some fun? I certainly do." He says with a wicked smirk, his eyes dark. I let out a yelp as one of his hands squeeze my butt cheek roughly while the other is still holding me in place. I start to panic as I fight him with all my strength but to no avail. He towers over me at 6 feet, and his body is very muscular due to all his lacrosse workouts, making it a perfect cage with no escape.
"Unless you want to look a panda and have your bones rearranged, I suggest you let go of her right now." a menacing, low voice says from behind me, one I would recognize anywhere. In front of me, my bully's face blanches, and his arrogant smirk is wiped off his face. Not even he would dare go against my knight in shining armor.
Suddenly, he takes his hands off of me, as if touching burning coals, and walks away, but not before shooting a glare at my savior. I sight in relief, my quick breathing slowly coming back to normal. I turn around and hug the leaving daylights out of him, taking him by surprise.
"Thanks, Griff." I mumble into his muscular chest. His strong arms wrap around my shoulders, safety and protectiveness radiating from his soothing embrace.
"No problem, Trouble" He answers in his deep voice, the corner of his lips lifting slightly as we break apart. People around us look at him as if he just sprouted another head, no doubt from seeing the second most intimidating person in the school almost smile. The first being my dearest brother Alexander.
"When are you going to stop calling me those weird nicknames?" I groan up at him, only for a small smirk to appear on his handsome face.
"When are you going to stop being yourself, Trouble?" he questions back at me, his smirk widening a little.
"Never?" I answer, sounding more like a question. I tilt my head to the side, eyeing him curiously. What did this have to do with anything?
"Exactly." he gives me a pointed look as if to say that's-exactly-why. I just give him a deadpan one in return, knowing there was no way I was going to win this argument. I then remember what I was doing before bumping into Cole and look up at Griffin.
"Hey, do you by any chance know where the Maths class is this year? I can't find it" I ask him. He grumbled something under his breath that sounded a lot like 'shortie' making me glare at him. He casually puts his hands up in surrender mode before actually answering my question.
"Yeah, I was actually headed there. Guess we are in the same class this year." He answers me as we start making our way towards what I assume is our classroom. As we walk through the now empty hallways he turns to face me, still moving forwards.
"Loving the hair by the way." he says with a teasing smirk. I groan having forgotten all about it until now and grumble a few profanities under my breath, making him let out one of his rare chuckles.
As we enter the classroom, I barely have any time to take notice that the teacher isn't here yet before something barrels into me, bringing me down with it.
"Luna!" I recognize Alison's voice scream before she hugs the life out of me. Meanwhile, I'm still recovering from the fall, wheezing from the air that was knocked out of my lungs.
"Alison! Be careful you idiot!" He hisses at her while pulling her up by her ear, making her swat his hand away in annoyance. When I have recovered my breath, Griffin gently helps me up, making sure I am steady before letting go of me. It is then that I realize that the judgemental gazes of our peers are all on me, making me feel uncomfortable and hide my face behind my hair in embarrassment.
"What are you all looking at?! I know she's beautiful but has no one taught you that staring is rude?" Alison hollers at them, annoyance radiating off of her, contrasting with her happy aura from seconds before. Everyone looks away, not wanting to be confronted by Lis. She can be very scary... She then turns to look at me, a smile back again on her face.
"Now, tell me-" she is interrupted by the door of the classroom opening and a very grumpy old lady walking inside.
"Everyone to your seats. Now! Don't waste my time." she shouts at us. Someone must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed I think to myself.
We take our seats, me besides Griffin and Ali in front of us. I give her a look that says we'll talk later before the both of us turn around, readying ourselves for 2 hours of torture...

Griff, Ali and I are now making our way towards the cafeteria. Turns out we have most of our classes together, which works great for me. Ever since the accident, I get nervous if I have no one that I trust around me and I don't know why. It's like if I'm alone, I'll be sucked into my memories again, but this time there will be no one there to pull me back, leaving me to re-live that scene over and over again, countless times, until I have lost sense of time and who I am.
I am snapped out of my thoughts by the opening of the squeaky doors that lead into the lunch hall. We weave our way in between tables until we reach the one where all of our friends are seated. As soon as Char sees me she comes running and engulfs me in a tight hug, asking how I am and what I have been up to when we break apart and make our way to sit down. I sit in between Pollo and Griffin at the circular table, everyone else occupying the remaining seats. I turn around to greet Apollo, only to be met by his frown.
"Pollo, aren't you gonna give me a hug?" I ask him with my arms open.
"No! I am mad at you!" he says in a childish voice, meaning every word. I look at him confused. Did I do something?
"Why?" I question further, trying to understand what had put my most bubbly friend in such a mood.
"You had a triplets' day without me" he pouts, looking like a child who has just dropped their ice cream. I look at him weirdly before speaking in a soft, paced tone.
"Api, no one has ever had a triplets' day with Levi, Luca, and I because that's just what it is. A day to spend alone with my triplets" I explain to him slowly, as if he were a five-year-old, gesturing at me and my brothers.
"Fine..." he says giving me a side hug, but still with a pout on his face. I swear he is a child locked in a body that has grown too much. I sigh before turning to him again.
"Don't worry. You didn't lose much" I say, trying to comfort him while giving a knowing look to my brothers, who return it.
"What is that look?" Roman, the ever so observant one, asks us, his eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"Well, it didn't go exactly as planned. Actually, that would be an understatement. Let's just say that Levi lost his temper-" I started only for my sentence to be continued by Luca.
"-and Luna had a panic attack-" he is also interrupted by Levi who finishes our line of thinking.
"-and they almost killed our brothers with food poisoning." Levi says pointing at me and Luca.
"It was a joint effort!" we shout in unison, giving him the evil eye.
"Wait, hold up. Panic attack? Are you okay Lu?" Riley asks, his eyebrows furrowed with concern.
"I'm fine Riles. No need to worry" I say smiling at him softly when he releases a breath of relief.
"Oh my god you had a panic attack and you weren't going to tell us? You could have died!" the ever so dramatic Lottie says as she examines every bit of my body, hands twisting and turning my limbs to check if everything is working fine. Everyone at the table gives her amused looks, which she is completely oblivious to.
"As I said earlier, I'm perfectly okay Lottie. No need to fuss over me" I say, taking both of her hands in mine and looking her in the eye. She looks unsure but reluctantly nods her head, turning back to her forgotten lunch while sneaking peeks at me every once in a while.
"Fin, any idea why Cole is shooting daggers at you with his eyes?" Levi asks him with his eyebrows raised in question. I can see Griffin's jaw clench and I mentally wince, remembering what had taken place earlier today.
"The little fucker thought it would be funny to corner your sister and grope her" he manages to say as his hands ball into fists. Hearing his words, both Levi's and Roman's eyes darken, hatred swimming in them. It was a scary sight. Not Levi, but Roman. While Lev was impulsive and had a short temper, Roman was level headed and usually calm. This was very out of his character but I can understand why.
"That dick is going to regret ever being born!" Levi manages through gritted teeth, standing up with Griff and Roman, only to be stopped by Apollo's arm. All amusement gone, he had a serious face.
"Don't. As much as I want to punch his face in, it will do Luna no good and only getting you in trouble. Look at her. She is fine and safe. Here. With us." All eyes snap to me and I give a reassuring smile at the three raging boys, verifying Pollo's words.
"As much as I want to rip that son of a bitch apart, Api here is right. It's in the past. The best we can do is move on, but if it happens again, I'll need a shovel" says Ali in all seriousness. Noticing the tense atmosphere, Riley decides to be the one to break the ice.
"Now, why don't we talk about that lovely hair of yours Lu?" he says shooting me a smirk and I groan, putting my face in my hands. I have been doing a lot of groaning today I think to myself
"One word." Luc says, trying to hide a smile. I go back to how I got my purple hair, and I say the only thing I need for everyone to understand what happened. The one word that leaves my mouth, sounding sour as a lemon.
"River"
