Chapter 2[1/2]

Unknown POV:

The room is filled with a low blue light reflected from the laptop screen, casting long shadows across the walls behind the person as she taps her slender finger on the keyboard.

As they write quickly, the person's eyes are locked on the computer, their brows furrowed in concentration, and the words they are typing appear on the screen as they reflect into their wet eyes. Their whole range of emotions has been written into the keyboard characters, creating words that appear on the screen.

TITLE: "In the Wait"

The words of title entered and then the words started to flow, Like a tears that couldn't stop.

"I'm sorry" is just a fragile word,
Can it heal the pain we've stirred?
When you hurt them day by day,
Leaving them waiting, led astray.

With eyes so wide, full of hope and plea,
They wait for you, wanting to see,
But you turn away, lost in your own haste,
As if their love can be left to waste.

Busy with things that seem so grand,
But isn't it for them you should take a stand?
To make them proud, to light their way,
To bring them joy, every single day.

For in their smiles, your heart should shine,
Their happiness, a sign so fine,
That all you do is for their grace,
To lift them up in love's embrace.

But the question is, will they understand?
That your heart breaks, held in your hand,
Making them wait, leaving them cold,
Empty inside when you don't hold.

Do they know how hard you've tried?
Hiding your pain, pushing it aside,
To keep them safe, to make them smile,
To protect them, even if just for a while.

But in the end, who is the one hurt?
While you drown in feelings that flirt,
Maybe one day, they'll see it all,
Maybe they'll understand after all.

Their gaze finally fell on the publish button, which they hesitated to click as the words came to an end. Their eyes scanned the published words one more time, feeling a sense of satisfaction and relief.

Wiping their hands on their pants, they closed the laptop as darkness surrounded the room along with the sea of silence and let out a deep sigh. Their eyes fell upon the digital clock, the red-colored light showing the numbers 11:59 PM. They realized they had been writing for hours without even noticing the time passing by. With a sense of accomplishment, they finally allowed themselves to relax and unwind after a long writing session.

As they stretched their arms and stood up from the desk, they couldn't help but feel so tired and exhausted. They never think about the reads, because it's the only source of comfort they find when the world becomes so burdened over her shoulders.

But there is only a small hope that maybe at least one person can relate to and appreciate their work. And as they headed to bed, they knew they would wake up to face the reality of day and continue their writing journey at night.

Seokjin's POV:

"Hyung, wake up!" Seokjin was jolted awake by Jungkook's loud voice. He rubbed his eyes and watched Jungkook's bunny teeth flashing in an enthusiastic smile. Sekojin's mouth fell long as he scanned Jungkook from head to toe, staring at him as if he were actually seeing him or if he was just dreaming.

"아이씨, Come on, hyung, You have a busy day ahead, and you have to drop me at school," Jungkook said, pulling Seokjin out of bed. Seokjin is still in shock while getting dragged by the bunny boy, who seemed to have boundless energy in the early morning.

Jungkook pushed Seokjin into the bathroom. "Get ready and come quick; I'm hungry, he said and closed the door behind him. Seokjin finally snapped out of his daze. "What the hell has just happened?" he mumbled, trying to process the situation.

However, he eventually dressed and headed to the kitchen to make Jungkook breakfast before he left for school. He has a sleek, classic style, so a medium-length hairstyle with loose waves goes well with the brown blazer, white turtleneck, and black pants. That gave him a more well-balanced, effortlessly stylish look.

"Woah, hyung!" Jungkook exclaimed as Seokjin entered the kitchen. "Handsome, right? I know," Seokjin said with a smirk, flipping his hair back casually. Jungkook scoffed, "Absolutely not, hyung. You're so full of yourself." Seokjin chuckled and ruffled Jungkook's hair playfully before starting to cook breakfast for him. "I know you secretly admire my style, Kookie," Seokjin teased, earning an eye roll from his younger brother.

"But in reality, I just like making fun of you," was a smirking Jungkook's retort. "Brat," Seokjin whispered, habitually shaking his head.

After cooking breakfast, Seokjin set the table and called Jungkook over.

"Pancakes," Jungkook whined, his lips forming a pout as he sat down at the table.

"Yeah, pancakes! Don't be a picky eater. I know you eat everything, so just enjoy it," Seokjin scolded the plate in front of him.

"Fine, I'll eat it," Jungkook replied with a grin, already stuffing his mouth with a big bite.

As he chewed, Jungkook tilted his head thoughtfully. "Where do you even get all this pancake dough? You make them every day like it's no big deal."

Seokjin chuckled, shrugging casually. "할머니 (Halmeoni)," he said, the single word carrying a world of meaning.

Their grandparents owned a small restaurant nearby and always ensured Seokjin had fresh ingredients for his meals. Jungkook nodded knowingly, his grin softening as he leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes.

"I miss them. Hyung, let's visit them today," Jungkook suggested, his tone earnest.

Seokjin bit the inside of his cheek, narrowing his eyes at the younger boy. Something was off. "Yah, Jeon Jungkook," he said, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. "What's going on with you?"

Jungkook frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"

"You woke up on your own today—before I had to drag you out of bed—and you're weirdly energetic. Spill it. What's the matter?"

Jungkook's grin returned, his nose scrunching in that adorable way that always melted Seokjin's heart. "Well... I was thinking about the noona I saw yesterday."

Seokjin's brows shot up in surprise. "Noona?" He racked his brain, trying to figure out who Jungkook could be talking about. Suddenly, the realization hit him like a truck. His eyes widened.

"Jin Sooyeon? Yeah! Didn't I tell you she's older than you?" Seokjin exclaimed, his voice rising in mock frustration.

Jungkook winced at the volume. "Tch, hyung," he whined, rubbing his ear. "Just listen! I think I've seen her somewhere before."

Seokjin leaned forward, resting his hands on the table, his voice lowering in a serious tone. "Yeah, at the company. And no—don't even think about having a crush on her."

"Hyung!" Jungkook clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Just shut up and listen for a second!"

Seokjin shot him a glare so sharp that Jungkook immediately backtracked, gulping nervously. "I—I mean, listen first, please," he added quickly, raising his palms in a gesture of surrender.

Seokjin waited for him to continue, though his expression remained skeptical.

"I've seen her before," Jungkook began again, "but not at the company. I saw her in a photo on my homeroom teacher's desk."

"What?" Seokjin blinked in confusion.

"Yes!" Jungkook nodded earnestly. "She's the daughter of my homeroom teacher!"

"Jungkook," Seokjin said, wincing as he stared at the younger young one. "Are you sure of this?" He was clearly hesitant to accept Jungkook's claim at face value, as shown by the doubtful tone in which he spoke.

Jungkook gave a vigorous nod, his eyes glimmering with will. He was already going for his phone when he said, "If you don't believe me, I'll take a picture of it and send it to you as proof."

"Don't, don't do that!" Seokjin sighed resignedly and waved his hand dismissively. "I believe you," I said. Hesitantly, he spoke, but a glimmer of trust was starting to show up.

A proud smile curved Jungkook's lips. He said, smiling foolishly as he recalled the images of her from yesterday, "But, hyung, she's even prettier in person than in the photo."

Seokjin pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned. "아이씨, don't start with this, Kookie."

Ignoring him, Jungkook's smile weakened a bit, and his face became serious. His brows furrowed as he thought out loud, "But... why did she look so down?" "She looked to be bothered by something."

"Yah, yah!" Seokjin snapped, waving a hand in front of Jungkook's face to snap him out of his daze. "Don't go prying into her life! Whatever it is, it's none of your business. Understand?"

"But hyung—"

"No 'but hyung' me," Seokjin interrupted firmly. "Just focus on your schoolwork and keep your nose out of other people's problems, alright?"

Jungkook pouted but didn't argue further. He knew better than to push when Seokjin was in full protective-older-brother mode.

But then, a devilish smirk crept onto Jungkook's lips. He turned to look at Seokjin, who was now casually sipping water. ."Hm... Looks like Seokjin hyung has a crush on that noona," Jungkook teased, his voice dripping with playful mischief.

The words struck Seokjin like a freight train, and he immediately choked on the water he was drinking, sputtering it all over the table—and, unfortunately, onto Jungkook.

"YAH, HYUNG!" Jungkook yelped and jumped back to avoid the spray, wiping his face with his sleeve.

"YAH!" Seokjin coughed, his face flushed from both choking and embarrassment. "WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING?!"

Jungkook laughed heartily, enjoying his hyung's reaction. "Your face! Oh my goodness, Hyung, you look so red!

Seokjin shot him a death glare while grabbing a nearby napkin and throwing it at Jungkook, who dodged it with ease, still laughing uncontrollably. "You brat! Stop making up nonsense!"

Jungkook, however, only smiled a little wider, his eyes glimmering with mischief. "I'm not sure, Hyung. For a person without a crush, that was just too dramatic."

Seokjin groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I swear, one of these days, I'm going to regret letting you live here."

"Love you too, hyung!" Jungkook sang, waving the napkin in victory before skipping out of the room, leaving Seokjin to shake his head in exasperation. "Kids, these day are being so ridiculous" he muttered under his breath, unable to hide the small smile that tugged at his lips.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Bye, hyung," Jungkook said before closing the car door behind him and after seeing jungkook dissapring into the crowd of uniforms seokjin sped off down the driveway.

"Wow! I can't believe this kid is growing up so fast," Seokjin thought to himself, feeling a sense of pride and also a hint of sadness at how quickly time was passing. As he drove to the company, the memories of Jungkook's childhood flooded his mind, filling his heart with bittersweet nostalgia.

Jungkook is his uncle's son, practically becoming his brother. Jungkook is a 6-year-old child with big, bambi eyes and a shy kid who is always following him around, and he is 20 years old now, all grown up and ready to take on the world.

Seokjin used to go to college and get back quickly to spend time with Jungkook, and no matter how late it got, we always bought banana milk for Jungkook without forgetting.

"Seokjin-ah, you are spoiling him more than your uncle," his aunt, Jungkook's mother, complains with her sweet smile.

"I'm his hyung, so I have to," Seokjin replied with a chuckle. "This kid makes me older, taking my place," Seokjin said, ruffling little Jungkook's hair. Jungkook would just laugh and hug Seokjin tightly.
"Aw, but you are always my younger son, Seokjin-ah," Jungkook's mother said, softly patting Seokjin's head. He loves his aunt and uncle more than anyone else in the world.

"Oh, then what about me?" Seokjin's brother whines for the same affection from their aunt. But Seokjin just rolls his eyes and teases him back. "Oh come on, hyung, you are the eldest." "And you should act like it," Seokjin teased.

"Look at you now, all grown up. Elder brother Seokjinie~," his brother would say, pointing to Jungkook, who was giggling at the banter.

Every day is like that in their household, filled with playful teasing and love. Seokjin wouldn't have it any other way. But one day it changed everything. Seokjin was busy as usual writing his notes when his brother burst into the room, tears streaming down his face. "S-seokjin-ah"

"Hyung! What happened?" Seokjin asked, concern evident in his voice as he rushed to his brother's side. "We—we got a call, and it's Uncle and Aunt in a car accident. They didn't make it," his brother choked out between sobs. Seokjin's heart sank as he realized their lives would never be the same again.

Seokjin quickly ran out of his room downstairs; he couldn't find his father, mother, or even their grandparents, not even Jungkook.

"They all are at the spot," his brother said from behind. "Let's go." Seokjin nodded, his mind racing with thoughts of the family members he had lost in an instant. As they drove to the accident site, Seokjin held onto his brother's hand tightly, finding comfort in their shared grief and determination to support each other through the tragedy.

"Seokjin-ah, don't, don't cry, okay? Hyung is with you," his brother said, his voice shaking with emotion. Seokjin wiped away his tears, trying to be strong for his brother. The car pulled up to the accident site, and Seokjin took a deep breath before stepping out into the chaos.

The sirens of ambulances and police vehicles blared in the background, adding to the sense of urgency and devastation that surrounded them. Seokjin knew that facing this reality head-on would be one of the hardest things he would ever have to do.

"EOMMA! APPA!" The loud cries of Jungkook pierced through the chaos, causing Seokjin's heart to ache even more. He knew that their lives would never be the same after this tragic event.

Seokjin ran to jungkook , tears streaming down his face, and held him tight in his arms, trying to stop him to run behind the abmbulnce.

"Jungkook-ah, Jungkook-ah," Seokjin whispered, his voice breaking as he held the younger boy, unable to keep his tears from falling.

Seokjin held Jungkook firmly, refusing to let him go even though he fought in his arms. Seokjin couldn't stand to watch Jungkook suffer; the pain was too deep. They both looked to be drowning in an unbreakable sadness.

"Hyung is here... I'm here," Seokjin whispered, trying to comfort him despite his own heartbreak.

Seokjin knew he had to be strong for the three of them. For his brother, as a grown man and supportive sibling, and for Jungkook, as elder hyung, and himself as well, he has to stay strong.

Jungkook finally stopped struggling and buried his face in Seokjin's chest, allowing himself to be comforted. Seokjin held him tighter, silently promising to always be there for him no matter what. Seokjin's brother joined them in the embrace, wrapping his arms around both of them.

After completing the funeral arrangements, they all got back to their home. While the elder brother took care of bringing supplies and helping his father, Seokjin used to take care of the little Jungkook, making sure he was eating and sleeping properly.

"We are not going to take care of him," said Jungkook's mother's side of the family. "Whoever asked you to take care of him?" Seokjin's brother snapped back, his protective instincts kicking in.

"Oh, look at him. Seojin, right? Your name?" said a man in his 40s Seokjin's brother glared at the man. "Yes," he replied. The man continued, "Well, Seojin, how do you even take care of him while you yourself have responsibility for your family as an eldest?"

"It's none of your business when you said you don't want to take the responsibility of him," Seojin, Seokjin's brother, replied firmly, refusing to engage in further conversation with the man, who was clearly trying to guilt trip him.

"Kim Seojin!" their father called out from across the room, his voice stern. Seojin turned to face his father, a look of defiance in his eyes. "I will not allow this disrespect in my house," he stated firmly.

"but appa," Seojin's father cut him off, his expression unwavering. "That's enough." Seojin's father's tone left no room for argument, and Seojin knew it was best to be quiet.

Seojin looked at Seokjin and the 6-year-old, who was wrapping his little arms around the younger's waist.

"What do you want me to do?" With a milder tone now, Seokjin's father questioned Jungkook's uncle. He paused before turning back to Seokjin's father and then to his family. "As you have two sons who need to be taken care of as they have been growing into adults, and your small business and your parents small restaurant are not even enough to support them all," he said.

"Even we have enough children in our household to take care of them," he said. "So, it's better to send Jungkook to an orphanage and let us take care of him."

"What?!" At the idea, Seokjin's father's eyes widened, and he called out in surprise.

"ENOUGH!" Everyone in the living room was nearly shocked by Seokjin's loudness. He was fed up with the nonsense. He even stayed quiet when his brother said to be quiet, but sending Jungkook to an orphanage when he had a family who could take care of him was unacceptable to Seokjin. He knew he had to speak up and defend his brother's place in the family.

"If you feel such a burden, then you may leave this place and never return," Seokjin said firmly. Seokjin's father was taken aback by his son's strong words, but Seokjin stood his ground.

"If you feel that my brother has to take responsibility for the family, then fine, I'll take the responsibility of Jungkook," he said, glaring at Jungkook's uncle.

Seokjin's father realized that his son was serious about standing up for Jungkook, and he somehow felt a little proud of his son. He knew that Seokjin had truly become a man. Even Seojin was shocked at the younger's outburst, but deep down he was holding his winning smile.

"Alright," Jungkook's uncle stood up, "Then let's see what you can do." With that, he stomped out of Seokjin's house.

The car came to a halt as he reached the company building, and Seokjin took a deep breath while his hands were still clutching the steering wheel as the past memories rushed into his head. He looked at the small frame of him and Jungkook's, which was taken during Jungkook's middle school graduation, a time when Seokjin was still trying to figure out how to be a good role model for his brother.

He reached for the small frame, both of them smiling like fools in front of a backdrop of balloons. The younger had grown so much since then, but Seokjin was aware that deep down, Jungkook would always be that shy six-year-old who used to follow him around, looking up to him with those big, innocent eyes.

You did well, Kookie. Seokjin thought to himself with a smile at how Jungkook had grown into a strong and talented 18-year-old.

But that proudness didn't last even for a moment as Seokjin remembered this morning how he made him breathless with his teasing "brat." He mumbled with a playful frown and placed the frame where it is.

He got out of the car and walked towards the entrance of the building, ready to face the day ahead.
